I remember reading that they didn't call it the Executor brcause they thought it would be too violent a name and that parent's would get upset and not buy the thing. Plus it's a meditation chamber, not a recharge station, what they mean now Darth Vader is stronger?

Could anybody understand how EVERY other ship in Kenner's collection was much bigger than the Star Destroyer playset? Always thought that was funny..then again I guess if all the toys were proportional the Star Destroyer wouldn't have fit thru my garage door.

It was pretty much implied that kids were supposed to pretend the play set was part of a much bigger ship. That's how I used it, anyway. I got it for Christmas back in 1980 and got a LOT of mileage out of it.

Of course, Hasbro would probably sell the thing in larger scale "playsets" nowadays...such as the bridge (with officers action figures), Vader's meditation chamber (with "holographic Emperor" bust), and maybe a landing bay for the Imperial Shuttle (sold separately).

Basically, they're trying to cram the Luke & Vader duel on Bespin thing into this so-called "playset" while they were designing it. (minus the part where Luke gets his right hand amputated)

Very little of this playset is movie accurate but it's still great.

BTW, the instruction sheet makes reference to Vader communicating with the Imperial Grand Vizer, a concept in early drafts of the ESB script that was later dropped. This character apparently served as the go-between for Vader and the Emperor.

Being the Star Wars fan that I am,I gotta say,this toy was the biggest piece of shit ever made. What a flat out joke! Just what asshole gave this thing the green light to be made? It looks about as much like a Star Destroyer,as my spaghetti colander does. With a potato peeler in it!

What an absolute piece of fucking shit! This thing probably cost about $50 (make that about $150 in today's dollar) and you had to sling it across your forearm and run around like a fool to fly it? It wasn't even aerodynamic and it lacked anything that closely resembled a piloting bridge!

That toy sucked. Glad my parents didn't love me enough to get me THAT piece of shit!

Anyways, I was reading that Kenner had their people come up with a whole bunch of names for the Star Destroyer... it's funny since they gave up and just called it 'Darth Vaders Star Destroyer'.

And the original catalogue lists the emperor viewing screen as 'Dark Vizor'.

In the same way the Death Star playset was a death star. Just an evironment, but they gave it a handle grip so kids could fly it around until they got a better toy. My brother did that until he got the Slave 1...a better toy!

These toys were a hell of a lot of fun though. "They don't make 'em like they used to..." except Hasbro re-releases a lot of them ;)
