  • So many videos! So many DVDs! I can play a bunch of chords and some fingerpicking stuff, pentatonic scales up and down the fretboard but I generally feel kind of lost. Where is a good place to start learning blues? thanks

  • @diptwares steffan grossmans how to play blues guitar volumes 1-3 on the guitar workshop site. i was in the same position as you and picked those up and my playing improved immensely. they are fantastic and steffan teaches so clearly.

  • it's skipping - any chance of uploading it again?

  • Well, thank you indeed! I really enjoyed your break down and delivery of such a beautiful song to play on the guitar. A pleasure to listen to you play.

  • I love your work, and think that you are the best teacher in the business. I especially love your Oak Anth. books with the great interviews, excellent insight into styles of individual players (and how the styles of diff. players relate), and your obvious passion for the blues.

  • thanks for the lesson - very enjoyable as is all your work.

  • einfach geil, geil , geil ,

    Danke Stefan für die Lektion

  • Excellent Vids

  • Great video!

In the MJH book there is tab for guitar break only, is there any place i can find the tab for this part as well? thanks agin

  • I love this music, wish country blues/folk would make a comeback.

  • Hi, when you stop playing, and rest in an no moving instant , i am sure of the "nature" or the "direction" of your spirit . Too short was the meeting.

  • Stefan is such a natural teacher, I'll be telling a few of my guitar friends about this channell very soon. Fantastic work

  • SuperFinfers,Master.

  • Very nice sounding Martin

  • it's an fmaj7 when you play the open e

  • Excellent absolutely inspiring and a far better sound on a Martin guitar

  • Good Lesson, Stefan, you was a name I heard very much in my youth when playing on Dadi's and other folkpicking methods.

  • Nice Shirt.

  • Man, you are an awesome teacher! Thank you!

  • I really like Leo Kottke's arrangement of Corrina Corrina more than John Hurt's. I'd buy your DVD if it was that one.

  • Fully agreed, Leo Kottke's version is so amazing! I wish it was up on YouTube

  • Hi Stefan, First I have to say thank-you for all your great lessons. I have several of your books and dvds and I find that you are an excellent teacher. I have learned so much from you. Second of all I really like your shirt in this video, very handsome.

  • Thank you Stefan for posting this video. It helped me to better understand the melody line. Definately, have to thank you and Happy Traum for your fine instructional tapes. Back in the 80's, when I was in the USAF stationed in San Antonio Tx, you provided hours of practice material. Those where cassette tapes. Even better today with video. Wishing you Health, Wealth, and Happiness for 2009. Cheers!

  • Homespun should take lessons from this youtube idea of yours...I'm going to now buy this DVD so I can get the tabs etc. I own several of your DVDs (Paul Simon and Fingerstyle Jazz--they are great.

  • Great Picking!

    Thank's!

  • And what an AMAZING sounding guitar! That's not just an OM-41 is it?

    And that's an FMajor7 with the open high E (not a 6).

  • That a Martin HJ-38 (Signature Model).

  • Does that stand for Herringbone Jumbo? I don't know the "38" designation. But I like it! I like the medium amount of abalone with the diamond fretboard inlays. A little Uptown, but not TOO flashy.

  • This is the "Stefan Grossman" signature Martin. You can find the specs on the "Martin Guitars" website.

Regarding the DVD: most of the songs are in open tunings. I think the tunings are DADGAD, open D, open C and dropped D. Mr. Grossman posted a list with the songs and their tunings at his forum "The Woodshed".

  • The first DVD has the tunes in standard tuning. The second DVD explores dropped D, DADGAD, Open D, Open C etc.

  • Thank you. On Amazon I read, that the DVD will be available in March 2009 in Germany. That sucks. Hurry up, guys! I need to have that DVD!!! ;-)

I would love a DVD with "Auroras Powder Rag", "God moves on the Water" and " Bermuda Triangle Exit", too...

  • @cosmojh this is correct....

  • can't wait to get your DVD!!!country blues/folk blues around christmas,thats all i want!

  • Dear Stefan,

    first to see it,

first to thanks you a lot for this great gift!

With gratitute from an old italian pupil..

    Best wishes
