to be honest i'm sad that u didn't sing this version on american idol... cause i feel this one is funnier than the one u did before... to be honest you really can't sing... but i feel that ur voice is good for those scary movies... =P but honestly don't sing.... i say u should try singing classes but i feel it won't work... you know u remind me of a teacher i know named mr. fedderman... jus askin what was in paula's cup?
I'm sorry, buddy, but you shouldn't sing so low and also get a vocal coach. I'm a believer in the fact that you can't learn to sing better on your own necessarily.
I sang this in chest voice (low larynx) for maximum resonance. I just recorded a version of this in which I do just the opposite, and I also sing with a whispery tone to take the sharpness out of it. (I posted it as a video response.) However, I think the Kargyraa vocals of my Trilingual Song are more suited to my voice. What do you think?
Absolutely horrible! Listen to Jay and the Americans and then listen to yourself. If you can't hear why you're horrible - don't even try to improve! Just stop singing!
You suck. Sorry but you need some kind of personal voice trainer to help you. No Youtube videos. The computer won't tell you when your voice something wrong.
omg! that´s exactly what i was thinking. I think that song was made for you, handsome ;) to hear you sing it would make my day!!! NO....MY entire LIFE you fine specimin of a man!
I agree with everyone that says you've improved. One thing to work on is the last note--I noticed you held it but then went sharp for the final seconds. Keep working :)
Personally I think you might be forcing it, the vibrato is forced, if you're really wanting to sing you should get a teacher. It would help with some of the things you could improve on. Otherwise, you might want to move onto something else, if you are into music then play the piano, or guitar.. something of that sort possibly?
Dude, not to hate (cuz I know you get a lot of negative comments), but the low stuff is not for you. Please try to find some more mid-range stuff. I think you'll find them easier to sing and more pleasing to our ears.
when you're singing, you should try to lower your larynx and lift your soft palate. it produces the best sounds and gets rid of tension. if you are tightening any part of your throat, it can cause damage.
mmmm a little too low for you, and the tremble in your voice (is that what people are calling a vibrato?) gets tedious after a couple notes. maybe you should try keeping your voice steady.
Then after you get that, start finding ways not to make each note so long and slow. It's as if you are thinking about it. You'll have to change notes up to about 5 to 10 times faster than that. Good singers have practiced so much, they don't have to do that. It's like riding a bike. They don't think all day about how to balance. It just comes naturally. You really shouldn't be trying to sing professionally. But if you insist, I hope you at least take the advice.
Also you are making a huge mistake with vibrato. With vibrato, the note varies up and down in pitch around a center point, but you're varies too much. Also someone who has great vibrato usually starts out singing the beginning of the note with NO vibrato, and as the note is held it gets more and more vibrato. You just start with vibrato and it sounds stuck that way. Try singing with no vibrato and then slowly adding it to each note near the middle.
To be honest, You're sing too low, have too much vibrato and carry each note WAY TOO LONG. It's NOT enjoyable and that's the truth. That's why people think it sounds funny. The worst thing is you carrying each note so long with the over done vibrato. If you can't phrase words any quicker, or sing higher, or lose the over dramatic, over exaggerated vibrato you won't be able to sing well.
As soon as my throat heals from the winter, I plan to try this with my larynx fixed in a slightly higher position for a softer, marginally higher sound. (Not as high as in the higher notes in "Ave Maria", though, because that causes throat pain after a while.)
If you listen to the original song, you'll note that I'm not as much slower as you think. I've been getting a smaller vibrato, but perhaps I can make it even more subtle...
Ross, I think you have a very nice voice, but it sounds to me like you're trying to force more darkness and bass sound into it than wants to come naturally. I have to admit I'm no expert on the mechanics of singing; I'm a beginner myself. But I used to be guilty of the same mistake you're making,. I also remember when G3 was a high note for me, about a year ago, now I can hit an F4. I'm not actually a basso profundo like I thought I was. will comment more laater. Keep practicing!
You might be onto something, but F4 is overkill. Based on another comment you wrote, your range is about like mine, and to get to an F4 in modal voice, I have to raise my larynx as high as it will go, which gives me throat/neck pains if I do it for too long.
I think I'll try to find a middle ground between what I do here and that painfully high F4 stuff. So did you ever get passing, shooting neck pains from singing high?
I have had some neck pain in the past, and when that happens, it's a sure sign that you are straining to reach that high. I wouldn't call F4 "overkill", in the sense that I want to sing opera, and E and F are fairly common in operatic bass parts. all in all, the best advice I can give is to try to find a good techer.
I say, you've gotta let your natural voice come out a bit more. It seems as if your trying to sing and singing should come naturally, freely, no tention.
Don't feel the need to go so bassy. But i would say like someone else mentioned, get a classically trained vocal teacher cause you have that type voice. You do have a good vibrato happening which is nice.
I see what you're saying about the vaguely artificial tone. I don't feel tension, though, so it'll be hard for me to release it.
So far the highest note I can hit with my larynx down for maximum resonance (where it naturally migrates when speaking) is G3, but I'm a bit shy of that in this clip. If I go higher, my larynx raises and I lose the resonance or "power". Hopefully I can develop higher notes later...
I'm glad that my vibrato is coming along. That has been a stumbling block for me.

You should try singing 'if I were king of the forest' from the wizard of oz. I think that would suit your voice.

Because of the vibrato? I know that sort of theatrical performance would be fun.

Yeah, I would love to hear you sing that song. Please try it out it, I think you would sound awsome.
