It doesn't go hard if you squeeze and massage it while it crystallizes so it doesn't have the chance to form the hard structure. Then it instead turns into a powder and is much softer and more flexible.
Do not buy this product, it goes hard, really hard, so does not mold to your shoulders or back let alone be put in gloves etc.Then you have to boil it and doesnt' always go back. Much easier to use a hot water bottle or heating pad. Total con!!!

i hate the fact that you have to boil it to deactivate it... i'd rather get the zippo hand warmer.. its gives you 24 hours of heat on only .4oz of lighter fluid..
how do you get them into their liquid state ? I got one but it's rock hard and i don't know how to use it :(

i got a pack exactly the same as that one from the real heat pack company and it only lasts half an hour to an hour not two hours
