come down to S.Florida, we have quakers here buy the THOUSANDS !!! these birds are so hardy there are flocks of them in cold climates like Chicago !!! down here the power company goes around to tear down nests(they build some huge ones some are 6ft in diameter)because they obstruct the power lines. quakers are some cute little devils though
I had my lorikeet outside and she flew off, but I called and she turned around and landed beside me ^__^ She's now clipped hehe but growing them again.
aww, yeah my quaker is like that too, he follows me everywhere and we have a strong emotional bond so I know he'd never try to "escape". his wings are not clipped, he flies to me. once as a baby he flew onto the roof and then wandered back and forth calling out an "uh?? uh?? uh??" and following the sound of my voice until he found me again and climbed down onto my hand :)
But other animals could get him so I wouldn't wander around outside. or a car could hit him. I'd just die.
Trust me, "T" scared all of us once. While my late sister took "T" outside one day, there were some buzzers overhead that frightened "T" and she took off into the trees. With the neighbors help, we managed to calm her down and at the time, my sister was the only person that "T" likes and watching my 4 feet tall sister climbing on a dinky ladder on a crude 40 feet tall tree to retrieve "T" was a sight to see.
Spirit(my Quaker) flew all the way down like 3 bloks into a REALLY tall tree once in December and me and my dad were looking for her in the other derection cause thats were it looked like she flew. she stayed there over night and finly we found her cause she screamed wen she hear my dads voice. and it turns out the next day we had a HUGE snow storm!
yea, but for some reason she would scream to my dads voice but would not fly down for anything! we got all the things she love and she still wouldnt come down! finly my sister came and we got her.

They can easily be scared but they always know who we are. No matter how small the animal is, they sure are a wonderful creature.

Yes, "T" loves to be out of the cage unless she is frightened. Oh, yeah, BTW, "T" is a female quaker parrot.
