  • Both Alien’s director Ridley Scott and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon claimed that they had never seen Planet of the Vampires.

  • I completely agree. in a certain way its plagerism very good observation terrapinbear

  • where is the vampire of this movie?

  • "you can't harm me with violence" 5:14 then his girly scream at 5:51 . LOL

  • H. R. Giger is a Swiss painter most noted for his unsettling designs for Ridley Scott’s film Alien. The original alien creature was based on an already existing painting of his called “Necronom IV”.

  • 5:38 holds the gun the wrong way

  • ridley scott based the horseshoe shaped spaceship, giant skeleton, and alien creature on paintings by H. R. GEIGER. maybe thats who was influenced by this movie. just sayin, maybe

  • why did they have to blow up the other ship? a classic stupid mistake in movies is when the bad guys hold their weapon at the good guys so close that they can grab it from them. no one would be dumb enough to do that in real life.

  • lol they didn't know their friends were killed by the vampires, but left 'em anyways..gotta love movie logic

  • I do not know who did Tin Man on SyFy; however, the uniforms and much of the technology reminds me of that. The rounded tele screens and such. I would swear the director or writer, or even property manager had to have seen this movie.

  • Vampires and Zombies often get mixed up in horror movies. Part of our nature.

  • It's weird. I watch that movie and you don't must follow the plot you have the sounds and the pictures,. It's amazing and a kind of Hypnagogic. Never felt that by a movie before. It's like a dream it happens and not more.

  • @ov4kill I agree... It's very hypnotic. This is really an odd movie and for any Horror or Sci-fi fan I highly suggest they watch it.

  • ov4kill...Hypnagogic??

  • @lasktguy just a word for half sleep

  • I love this movie. I should be writing statements of purpose and applications to schools, while finishing my papers -- instead, I'm watching this and being amazed by how good it is. I saw it years ago, it's still good.

  • I wonder why they went with "Planet of the Vampires"?

"Planet of the Zombies" or "Planet of the Possessed" would be more accurate.

  • Fascinating info about Bava's use of just two rocks.

  • Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon may claim not to be infuenced by this film when they made "Alien", but the production design is everywhere:

    1. Helmets next to the flight chairs.

    2. Planet's surface and climate

    3. Alien ship

    4. Alien ship's interior

    5. Giant alien skeletons

    6. Ray guns that look like flame throwers

Biggest differences are the space suits and ridiculous amount of wasted space inside the space ships.

  • It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958)

  • @terrapinbear, actually I saw somewhere where they did admit this movie inflenced them.

  • @lasktguy both movies on IMDB make no mention of either, but on Alien site on IMDB does clam that "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" (1958) is an influence.

  • @terrapinbear Very true non the less both movies on IMDB make no mention of either, but on Alien site on IMDB does clam that "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" (1958) is an influence.

  • Who cares? Vamps are gay.

  • that ray gun looked like a flame thrower. no wonder Alien was full of em.
