  • blues?? thats metal! yeah!

  • I love the stripes, but was anyone else expecting a nice acoustic song, and get the shit scared out of them by the opening riff lmao? fuck my headphones just tried to kill me

  • wow. the master at work.

  • Ja pierdole rozjebało mi to mózg.... osom nuta-> great song, blows my mind up

  • fuck jack white.

  • STOP BREAKING DOWN

    WOOOOOO

    STOP BREAKING DOWN

  • Love this version, it rocks

  • ill admit i was expecting this to be awful. Im a huge RJ fan, n i like his version better. but this song is far from "bad". Good cover. Any ballsy dj's/mc's out there that see this, try this guitar n drums backing with Roberts voice and itll be my favorite song of all time.

  • anyone know how to play this on guitar or where i can find somewhere to learn it like a video or helpful tab?

  • looking for the original, this sucks sounds like typical heroin addict L.A. shit

  • @cyclops1092 no appreciation for a cover I see.

  • @kenlor71 overrated

  • LOL

  • This is a really cool take on the Robert Johnson song. I've always appreciated that Jack White never seems to try to impress as a musical virtuoso but instead puts tons of pathos and emotion into his performance. Its all about the feeling.

  • Disgraceful, to have RJ's photo up there with this utter shite!

  • @surfercrow you are a retard

  • @shannoncafagna - you're a fucktard, you twat!

  • @surfercrow The stripes have done a lot to keep the blues alive. They have a ton of respect for the early song writers, and even if it's not to your particular liking you have to appreciate the effort and the pure musicianship. Jack has got an amazing talent for presenting music that folks love. You may not appreciate it, but millions of others do. I did actually find a Johnson cd last year, and now I have respect for the original tunes too. Try not to be so closed minded.

  • @kenlor71 - Closed minded? You have no idea who i am and what i listen to, or anything about my "mind".

Now go listen to Trout Mask Replica and get back to me...

  • HA??

  • WTF??? Most definitely not RJ...

  • maaaaan! now i got the blues, too! thanks rob johnson!!!

  • childish abd boring turgid gear

  • 007shanman, DEFINETLY A SHITTY COVER AND WAY OUT OF JACK WHITES LEAGUE.

  • I LIKE IT very M

  • DISRESPECTFUL TO A GREAT LEGEND...SHAME ON YOU!

  • In "It Might Get Loud", Jack White said he and Meg only formed white stripes to cover bands like this and bring em back. Great job.

  • Jack White is amazing. But please!!! Don't put Robert Johnson's pic up.

    disrespectful to both.

  • anybody heard the rolling stones version? try to avoid it because its the worst thing i've ever heard

  • @RussianThickness1 Hey, whoa dude, hate to tell you this but you're wrong. The Stones' version is a little bit classic! Worst thing you ever heard? Really?!? Try searching for 'worst cover ever! *the final count down*' on here and then tell me the Stones' cover is the worst thing you ever heard!

tbh I like all three versions of 'Stop Breakin' Down' I've heard (Johnson, Stones, Stripes). So shoot me.

  • love Jack White.

But cheap shot putting his version under Robert Johnson's name and pic.

  • That ain't singing that's damn noise---ELVIS PRESLEY RULES!!!

  • Elvis aint up to this standerd

  • @vinniedurrant THAT'S YOUR OPINION FELLA-----ELVIS PRESLEY HAD A REAL VOICE NOT THIS DANG SLOP MASQUERADING AS MUSIC

  • white kids playin devils choice its way cool :)

  • Sort the title of the video out.

  • power.

  • lower me under ground, this song will play me out.

  • The BBC Version is good... This is AMAZING!

  • Still prefer the BBC live version, but this is a whole different take... love it

  • jack white is my hero

  • Mine too bra

  • sloppy great

  • i dig it its groovy

  • Live is better:

The White Stripes - Stop Breaking Down (Live on BBC Radio 1)

  • Thumbs down

  • Just listen to whatever you want and screw everyone else. Even if it's bad electro-pop disco, or Nigeria folk music. If it rocks your boat, who cares.

    Play it loud.

  • What bugs me is that all the "cool" kids today listen to Good Charlotte Fall Out Boy My Chemical Romance and Green Day but I couldn't disagree more I think this song is great and I listen to The White Stripes R. Johnson Beck and bands like that. Although this comment will get a thousand thumbs down I wanted to make my point.

  • no thumbs down from me, but it's not about listening to the 'right' band. it's about listening to a wide variety of music and finding what's cool about each type. sure music is a way to express your individuality, but it's also a way to appreciate shit that's different than you as well.

  • i disagree all the cool kids are listin to this (the white stripes) and other bands with substance

  • It`s the evolution of music rather than what`s cool. there is a new musical era every 5 years or so. Everyone picks up a little influence along the way and tries to be more creative than the last. When everyone starts to sound alike again, it will change again for better or worse. Green Day seems to be standing the test of time. No thumbs down from me either.

  • The point is that the these band(Fall out boy...and new similar bands) have a serious lack of soul to put on their songs!!!

I mean, all the original (around 30's) blues-men had a great motive 'cause they had pain and true feelings about they hard life back then(slavery).

That's why they could express so many emotions in a chord, note, guitar bend, guitar slide, soulful voice...

  • good point only one problem:slavery was abolish in the 1860s well before the 1930s. true they had hard live but i doubt many if any of them had living realatives who were slaves and pay attention there is no apostrophe at the end of decades

  • Have you heard of Jim Crow laws, Plessey v Ferguson, etc?

    In Mississippi until 1966:

"Any person...who shall be guilty of printing, publishing or circulating printed, typewritten or written matter urging or presenting for public acceptance or general information, arguments or suggestions in favor of social equality or of intermarriage between whites and Negroes, shall be guilty subject to fine not exceeding five hundred (500.00) dollars or imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months or both."

  • true did i say they didn't exist at any point. thats oppresion not slavery. big difference

  • oops forgot to log my freind off my comp.... but still while niether is anything resembeling right thos e two are very different

  • amen to that

  • I was listening to WS on my ipod on the way to school and I realized that every other kid on the bus was listening to rap music and hip hop. WHile I was lsitening to Son House covers.

  • It's a great thing when you realize that.

  • No dude.. Seriously your not..

You don't wear your music like it's some sort of fashion label..

    Thats not cool..

  • ur fukin gay man

  • not where im from, the d.c. maryland area. cool kids listen to indie shit, hip hop or rock... or whatever they want really. like MGMT, Deerhunter, The Cool Kids, A Tribe Called Quest, The Black Kids, the Black Keys, Silversun Pickups, Datarock... and stuff like that.

  • @gta387 Dont let that shit bother you man, just do what you do and "leave them kids alone" lol

Only fcuking with ya, I agree 100% with you

  • @gta387 well if you like this listen to some 60's and 70's rock too

  • @gta387 Beck? lol

  • I love the stripes. I like this song as a song itself. But as an RJ cover? not even close. I think the Stones have the best cover to date. That version is just so lively and loose. Groovey? Signature Stones sound without butchering. Not a song you want to cover with distortion as a tribute. No knock on jack.

  • Obviously it doesn't sound anything like RJ but in a way it's more authentic for a couple of white kids from Detroit ( and they don't come much whiter than Jack, lol) to jump on a distortion pedal than it would be if they tried to sound like the original.

  • actually, jack grew up in a mexican neighborhood.

  • actually, screenname87 is right. Jack White grew up in the Hispanic part of town while meg grew up in another area. Just look up any of the biographies made about them.

  • That's one of the rawest guitar tones I've ever heard and a voice with a ton of soul--no butchering here!! What's the point of trying to make a cover sound just like the original?

  • i have "the white stripes" and it's the best album ever recorded!!! buy it!

  • This song is so awesome.

And to all you people ranitng baout legality, STFU and enjoy the damn song.

  • Awesome, from which album is this??

  • The debut, the white stripes

  • the debut

  • This song is totally awesome. I didn't know it was a cover, btw ;]

  • How do u get music to play in a video?

  • it depends on what editing software you are using.
