NOOOOOOO! Not another silent video. At least explain the "dang" rules. Actually, I'm gonna say it, because I can't stand you and these videos. They would be the best DAMN games if you could tell us how they worked.
Why have this video up? It pains me to know someone went to effort to show me as much about power grid as, say, steve-o showed me about power grid on dancing with the stars.
Can you clarify a bit? Which facet of this video shows a lack of effort? I think that this is a pretty decent overview of the game. What was left out?
Oh, no, the effort is there, I didn't say there was a lack of effort.
However, peek at the back of the box. What's there? Words. I mean, without words, this is just a collection of cardboard bits and pictures. Likewise, a collection of moving pictures doesn't really tell us a lot about this game.
The other videos bestdanggames do, have sound for the most part. So there's some value in having some explanation and they know it. I apologize for the flames, but I'm a user from boardgamegeek
I really wanted to see more about this game, but, all I got was "you buy stuff, and prices go up, and here are the box pieces". It was like, "video review...awesome." then it was like, "video review...no sound." It was like meeting someone off of craigslist before finding out what t4m means.
I find a level of irony in saying they don't want this to be a distraction, but you have to be watching it intently to get even the vaguest of ideas about this game.
We have chosen to make them with no audio for a couple of reasons.
1) Quicker to produce.
2) They appear in eBay auctions, store listings, and blog posts. The lack of audio allows someone watching them to not be distracted.
3) I was hoping to focus the viewer on the game elements and remove the confusion of someone trying to tell you what all the stuff was, how it is played, and other commentary.
Why have video if it's not a distraction? I mean, most of your youtube video embeds need you to click-to-play anyway, so clearly there's an established interest.
Why would we ever want to know "what all the stuff was, how it is played, and other commentary"?

I think your silent reviews completely misuse the benefits of Youtube as a great medium. Poorly done.

Can you qualify that a bit? I don't seem how one misuses YouTube by not having an audio track.
