stock clock for my hd4850 is 650mhz, also i tried a VERY similar method. underclocking it to 624mhz seems to have fixed this issue for me, thanks again. been looking for months since i got the card on how to fix the issue and well, now it's gone. =)
buying nvidia 9800gtx aint fixing this problem. this is easily fixed without having to buy other gpu...

Just under clock the memomy thru ati overdrive tab to hmm... not sure anymore but i think it was 900 or 800mhz. then on 3d tab disable catalyst ai.

wtf :D Core clock should be 650 and memory about 1004mhz.
