@10KLaura Honestly. I'm not really sure. I can't make a lot of sense of the lyrics. I highly doubt it. I don't think they would put out something THAT twisted back in those days. That's pretty sick. That's a good question. (???!)
@10KLaura Probably. You wanna hear DIRTY?? Look up a song called, Shave Em' Dry. It's from the 30s' and is.. Well, pretty graphic.. So it is very possible that this means. I mean, one of the other songs on this record was "Grandma's Life is Soft Since Grandpa's Eight-Four" or something to that matter, so.. Umm.. Yeah...
Great stuff. Joe Davis, the owner of Beacon, released a lot of legitimate r&b records in the 50's.
This sounds incredible. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of cart and phono stage are you using? I recently got an AT-MONO 3/LP that works wonders on mono records and I'm running the signal through a PEQ-20 phono stage.
@MrPJSoul Hi. On this, I used the phono stage from a vintage Yamaha CR-440 receiver. The cart is an Ortofon 2M Blue. In experimenting thus far on the working audio gear I have, I like the 2M Blue best through the phono stage of that receiver. I'm not real crazy about it through anything else I've tried. Finding the right match for stuff seems to be very important. The stylus is probably broken in better now too. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks!
@chompo7 I see what you mean, but I don't think it's her. It's a great shot of whoever it is. I'd like to know for sure. You would think it would be someone famous. The girl on the cover has different eyes, and a different build to me than Stefanie Powers. I appreciate the comment.
@727JeffN It's a variety of performers. Novelty type LP with all of the song subjects having sexual/double meanings. It's pretty good really. I'll put some more of it up.
This sounds like it is a take off of the Bette Davis 'What Ever happened To Baby Jane' movie song 'I've Written a Letter To Daddy'. I wonder if this song was really supposed to be about her cat? Interesting upload Dale~
aww what a beautful heartwarming tribute to a man and his cat. :)

I wonder if this ever gets played at those father/daughter virginity balls?

Tons of old torchy/jazzy/bluesy records have a gal referring to her fella as "Daddy"--So the incestuous thing is there only if you want it to be!
LeshaAnn 3 months ago
@LeshaAnn Except the first thing established is that she's talking about "the children playing in the house across the way."

Not being funny but is this song meant to imply themes of incestuous pedophilia ?

@10KLaura It's certainly playing on the double entendre and leading people to make the leap to that conclusion.

@stringchild1 i suppose we will never know but to me the eyes and the nose look like her, plus the red hair
sexy cute girl whoever she was!

@chompo7 Doubt it. It would have to be a *very* young Stephanie Powers. She was born in 1942, this album is from 1957.

@Paneeks1960 That's quite likely. You may very well be right. I haven't done much research on the songs.
