@ShannonInOurHearts I seem to recall on one of the web commentaries (some mp3 that you start playing at the same time as the episode), that Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke started a simple handshake greeting and added more and more to it as the seasons progressed. The writers noticed it and by the time they added it to an episode, it had progressed to this elaborate dance. Since this was how Donald and Sarah greeted each other daily, it was easy for them.
