HOLD TIGHT the Dave & the Penny for putting on many many wicked Helter Skelters :) :) Wicked tapes in '94, '95 & '96 went off the scene after that, turned way too wank and cheesy for me.
Also BIG RESPECT to the Jay P, the Daz, the Chris & MCGQ for World Dance WICKED MEMORIES 4EVA :) :)

Like others, rueing the day I lost the tapepack. Thanks for posting!
OMG & Goosebumps indeed .. I turned 18 @ midnight & got engaged to this Hype GQ combo up on stage wiv em - surreal, Wat an amazing event, world dance still rate as all time top nights out, along with Dreamscape, Raindance & Helter Skelter, Glad I was part of it & glad its part of me!
I'm sure this is where we first heard "Keep jumpin' yer b'stards" ( I think that's what it was called??) with GQ MCing to it, man we went totally mental!
the very 1st World Dance Lydd Airport I ever went to!.....fuckin goosebumps listening to this.....time to get the tapepacks down from the loft and convert to MP3 I think! ;-)
was at this rave all the way from n,london and hypes set the amp blew up people thought it was indore pirotechnics coz it did make a bang but then there was no tunes for about 10 mins until it got sorted
i went to nearly all the world dances some of my best nights ever memories will stay with me forever . this set from hype in this vid is tough the mixing and scratching is criss i would love to find the rest of this set ???
dj hype...what have an old dove with yourself mate? dj hype.... hype... hype...give me the phone...what happened to the rush hour...mc mc....and hypes dog!
I was under the speakers on the left side of the hanger. This was the best set of the night. MAGIC. Wasnt the best sound system though. They changed it for the next 1. Think it was june 21st summer solstice. Did anyone go? Still got the tape packs from all and the videos. GQ was awsome all night
The sound of the bass vibrating the hanger as you arrived set goosebumps off everytime even just waiting in the queue, fucked up in a long dark tunnel!
certainly were good days, hype is the d&b don, saw him play in melbourne down under where i'm now living a couple of years ago and he's still the master, can't believe no one has mentioned how fucking cold it was at lydd!!!!
I remember trading this tape with all my pals back in 1994 - it was LEGENDRY - the 1st time we'd heard the "beep" and the 3 decks.......i'm now 30 and living in Los Angeles and still getting goose bumps.....good times people....never to be repeated...peace
"Had" the same tape m8, copied from my friend (with DJ Kidd @ Big Luv on the flip side) >>> EVERYONE wanted a copy back then!!! Shame I have it no more & the sample from 'Wings of the Apachy' with; Tommy Lee Jones' voice-over, isn't included @ the start here of 'Helicopter / Copter'...goose bumps Galore >> Each & Every time I hear this tho, with GQ mc'ing, still! Gr8 days :) .....& you are right, Never 2 b repeated! So f@#king glad I was there, then! Peace ;)
quality tunes, GQ was a good MC aswell, always knew when to shutup and just listen to the music. so did most mcs back then (ribbz, mc mc etc) nowadays the mcs overpower the tunes.
@Smylez403 Its the drop, that drop is simply breathtaking! Even now, 20 years later!!! I prefer the MC to just STFU when this kind of tune comes in, that drop, wow!
of fuck yeah this was my last wd i remember these days just about it isnt this same anymore no way could the music beat this era,i cant say anymore sad they are gone now JUST SIMPLY A FACEMELTER OF A TIME FUCK YEAH!
Cant believe i was lucky enough to have been there i went to them all. last one was nov 95 remember it so clearly. ah man this set brings back so many memories............
hows i miss the lydd days....how i miss tunes like pulp fiction....how i miss hype dropping long dark tunnel about 2/3 tunes into every set he played....how i miss hype scratching a sample of his dog barking....how i miss stevie hyper d
todays dnb scene hasnt got anything on those days, such a shame :(
World Dance Parties were off the leash, anyone who bangs on about the new era hasn't been in an Airport Hanger with a load of nutters for 12 hours....Hats off to the GQ and the man like the Hype!!!
GQ knows when to talk and when to shut up unlike all the RUBBISH MC's who think their voice is more important than the music.........big up GQ. old school master.......
this is pure memories-lydd was wicked-rmemba the portable loos outside!dancin til the sun came up-wicked times.anyone who doesnt rate gq knows nothing about jungle-hes a legend
whenever you are on a cd/tape pack and have earned more than GQ - won awards for your talent as an MC mate, then come back and run your mouth... Until then keep it zip dickhead.
It's about the music and not the MC. GQ knows when to shut up. Not like the MCs now who have to go on and on and drown the tunes out. Interludes (with some fucking good samples) always expanded my mind more than jump up jungle did. Someone like MC Det is ok but in small doses. This era was the real deal. You 18 year olds need to get hold of some old tapes and hear some real shit
Agreed! GQ was an intelligent mc. He wasnt cheesy, the fella knew when to keep it buttoned and went to roll with it. World dance was the nuts although i wernt too keane on the amnisty box followed by old bill when you qued to go in..wink! wink!
holy shit that was wrong 2 of my mates got caught and spent the night in the car i had a wicked night lucky for me i didnt neck anything before i went i waited knowing about those cocks on the door sanctuary was easy though strait in fucked or not.
dj timraw....nice name btw....ur 19, ur own youtube page plays eurodisco..u probably have no idea where lydd airport is or at leat used to be. give it a rest
GQ has been in the game a long time show a bit of respect ...ask any MC worth there salt what they think of GQ today and they have BIG respect for him ...so kindly fuck off you little negative cunt
fuck me someone with sense kids today just dont know!GQ was the first mc to come out with some badarse lyrics and anyone saying any different couldnt have been there at the time
i got this tape pack i lent the hype tape out and never got it back its one of the best sets ever GQ and HYPE were the best back then hype still runs it today not sure about gq hes not as popular i went to the world dance fireworks do after this fucking niiiice.

I might be able to get hold of Slim's set. Had it on cassette (the 90's) but my mate has been working on converting them. Mickey Slim's set was LEGENDARY! I've a shit load load of Jungle Fever etc stuff on CD I can ship over.
This is some of the finest jungle ever, this set is legendary as far as im concerned, ive managed to lose this set on cd and tape, gutted, great to hear it again!!!
this is the first piece of music i ever owned !!! as a young black man livin in south london (14) while all my mates wer rockin hiphop i had my own lil jungle world that they cudnt understand hahah. and still today nuthin touches the hostin skills of gq and the ability of the dj.
