Because of this, they are defending him from players, which is how they are attackable in the raid. After you defeat them, their madness is gone and they then give you a buff while you fight yogg-saron to help you defeat him. You can get a buff from Thorim, Freya, Hodir, and Mimiron. To get the achievment Alone in the Darkness, you have to defeat Yogg-Saron without any of these buffs, which makes it extremely hard. Finished :)

If you guys DID know the story, you might know that because Loken, being Thorim's brother, fell under the sway of Yogg-Saron's madness, and he, with the help of Ignis the Furnace Master, took out the remaining watchers one by one, Freya, Mimiron, Hodir, and finally when Thorim went to fight Loken, along with Razorscale, Thorim's pet, Thorim lost because Loken became more powerful because of how close he was to Yogg-Saron. All the watchers, and Razorscale, then fell under the sway of Yogg-Saron.
