  • This looks like an ad form an 80s TV show that is supposed to depict someone running for president in the future

  • Cliche after cliche.

  • Hart is just one of many Democrats including - Bill Cinton, John Edwards, Anthony Weiner, Charlie Rangel, Bill Jefferson, Rod Blagojevich and other- who are nothing more than common criminals! And of course, since they are Democrats, they get by with it!

  • @schs1977 i dont recall rod blagojevich getting away with anything, nor john edwards or anthony weiner.

unless your definition of "getting away with it" it not getting nailed to the cross, in which case yes they got away.

  • @jerzy862 -- They all LIED numerous times over. Keep drinking the Democrat Party Kool Aid

  • @schs1977 yeah and they got punished. blago is in jail, weiner lost his job, and john edwards has been permanently shamed.

how is that getting away with it?

  • Fuck Gary Hart.

  • One of the greatest wrestling personalities of all time.

  • Democrats suck.

  • Anyone have the 1984 Illinois primary ad that ruined any chance Hart had at winning the nomination? It linked Mondull to Chicago ward boss Fast Eddie Vrdolyak. The ad was working, but Hart--being the pious pinhead he;s always been--ordered them off the air. Except his campaign couldn't get the ads off the air, and the story became "Hart can't even run his own campaign right."

  • @swami1 I think it was due more to the famous red phone ad aired in Illinois - a theme Hillary Clinton picked up on in the famous 3AM phone call ad. Agreed here that Hart - who had a 6 point lead the final weekend before Illinois - would have probably won the nomination if he won Illinois.

  • @tommiej3 Yes, I agree he probably would have gotten the nomination. The bottom dropped out after Illinois. But he wouldn't have beaten Reagan. Reagan was unbeatable that year. Hart might have won a couple more states than Mondale did, though, and would have positioned himself well for '88 (until Monkey Business, of course).

  • @swami1 Agreed - no one would have beaten RR that year. Little known but true fact told to Newsweek reporter who had to hold it until after Nov. election: that if Mondale had lost two of the three Southern primaries Super Tuesday he would have dropped out. Hart won FL, Mondale won Alabama (with a good black vote) and Mondale won GA by only 4-5K votes! Imagine if Hart was able to swing 2500 voters or pull in another 5000.

  • Gary Carter picked a bad year 1984 to run going up against Mondale but he was a good Candidate

  • Sen. Hart definitely would have faired better against Pres. Reagan. I still think the best competitor in '84 would have been the Sen. Kennedy in a 'I told you so' moment, but he did not run. I do agree with Flynnster93 that Sen. Hart probably would have been very formidible in '88; but there ar so many what-ifs in politics, right?

  • @jon91184 Yeah, like what if Kennedy hadn't committed and act of preventable negligent homicide?

  • Who on earth was looking after his advertising... these ads are rubbish!?

  • He keeps on saying "new ideas" without saying what they are. Mondale was right!

  • @framptonorchablis Right on. It was a bunch of platitudes. There were no new ideas in his platform, just the same old stuff with a different spin, pretending to support entrepreneurism more than New Deal/Great Society liberals but without any substance.

  • So is Martin O'Malley

  • Gary Hart is an idiot

  • Gary Hart is a Very Bright Guy Especially on Foreign Policy but a Lousy Campaigner.

  • 25 years ago we were celebrating Hart's upset of Mondale in the NH primary on Feb. 28th

  • It doesn't matter who any body put up in '84 Reagan was the "Great Communicator." Reagan could out debate anyone look at the whole Age Issue thing with Mondale. Mondale had that oh man I had just lost the election look on his face. The Reagan Wit was a political powerhouse all in itself. Though, if you out Reagan's resilience against Obama, Reagan would win hands down. Reagan unlike Obama, never needed a Teleprompter. Obama sounds like an idiot without the Teleprompter.

  • Gary Hart would have made an excellent President. He probably would have won in 1988 if it weren't for Donna Rice. Such a shame.

  • That's true, but then the US Economy would have tanked in 1991 like it did for Bush Sr.,Bob Dole would have been the 1992 Republican Nominee for President and win that election (President Hart would have lost).Maybe in the afterlife we can see it all happen in technicolor.

  • Nobody knows what happnens if...

  • @Flynnster93 I doubt it.

  • @Flynnster93 Yup, it was all her fault that jackass couldn't NOT cheat on his spouse.

  • Hart was kind of like Clinton, before Clinton. Very intelligent. Confident while being outside the establishment. New way of thinking in his own party, even took a few budgeting ideas from the Republicans...

...And he had problems keeping his thing in his shorts. If he could have avoided this issue, he would have easily been elected in 1988, as he was a way, way stronger candidate than Michael Dukakis, with much better economic and security plans.

  • I still can't believe they chose Mondale over Hart, the ass kicking that we (Democrats) got in 1984 was well deserved

  • hey man. im naked!!

Do you remember me? MSG me on M.S.N. PV

  • obama08

  • hart is a pimp

    obama hart 08

  • If not for the Monkey Business debacle in 1988, Hart would have been the 41st President of the United States and the next JFK.

  • Niggas got messed up teeth.

  • What a tosser - new ideas ....change...etc...same old shit. The man was a total tosser with no belief in individuals. An arse.

  • noooooo

you don't eat the AMERICAN FLAG!!

    no wonder he lost

  • funny how 24 years later, the rhetoric is the same as now

  • Senator Hart is an intellectual & was more competent than any other candidate in '84 & '88 (from either party). But our citizens were too ighorant to see through the BS!

    Our coutries loss....

  • Gary Hart was to Walter Mondale as ______ _____ is to Hillary Clinton.

    Fill in the blank!

  • He also changed his signature twice as an adult. Weird guy.

  • George H.W. Bush (SR.) cheated on his wife.

I agree somewhat about the shortening of last name (Sen. Hart's). It's a lot of packaging & BS "marketing" of virtually ever Presidetiial candidate nowadays.

I think Hart had a lot to offer our country. My opinion; you're surely a Conservative Republican & didn't like him from the get-go.....

  • He should have been Mondales Running mate

  • Talk about TRUE "Monkey Business"...LOL!!!

  • Hart should have been President -- by far the best candidate in both '84 and '88.

  • I totally agree!!! Worked full-time in '84 campaign. I was ready for '88 but people's BS Puritan views really hurt this country.

Sen. Hart woul've made a superb President.

  • Monkey Business Crew

  • That's Monkey Boy...

  • Well guess what? Those 'liberal dorks' of which you speak are going to control Congress in a few weeks! Don't like it? Then stop whining and GET OVER IT!!

  • yes and now they have a lower approval rating than bush. CONGRATS!

  • Another liberal dork.

  • these ads are way too general to have any effect. new ideas are mentioned often, as is the perennial fav political term "special interests." hart's voice makes me fall asleep too.

  • The fuse and cake carving analogies are admitedly powerful.

  • What a loser. Liberal Dems like this really are so passe.
