One minor correction to what Jean Jacques Perrey says in his spoken intro: The actual melody this is based on is not "Turkey in the Straw" (which dates back to 1830 or so), but rather a 1910 ragtime piece called "Chicken Reel" (you can find dozens of versions on YouTube). But he's not totally wrong, either, since "Chicken Reel" and "Turkey in the Straw" are often performed together as a medley.
