  • Beatleborg!

  • MAKEABOT 1800$, MAKEABOT.COM

  • How is $3,149.30 an "Affordable Desktop 3D Printer"?

  • @Casper3417 Good question. You could spend a crap load of money to have someone do the work of building one for you or you could make one yourself that is every bit as good for next to nothing.

  • Ok your product is 2x's as much as a Makerb but does it give 2x's as much detail in printing? No it does not. Make your machine cost as much as a Makerb does now and I'll buy it. Right now your in crazy land just like the Makerb people are that many people will want to pay that much for a mediocre 3-d printer.

  • 2:10 GAY BACON STRIPS

  • I want to make fleshlights

  • This company must be doing quite well as they can afford to totally ignore Canadian customers. Oh well, by the time the dust settles this printer will cost me close to $6000.00. I'll wait a year and get something twice as good for half the price.

  • Why my oven can't do that?

  • I'll wait till a printer can make me a pair of clothes

  • Looks like a slightly altered reprap. Look up reprap.org if you want a much cheaper version (and want to build it yourself.

  • 5:21 DERP THANKS

  • Everyone interested, look up Blender get ready for 3-d design objects to take off pretty soon.

  • @MrVictorPhoenix being using blender for years mate!!!!

  • @molceonly Then do a quick Google of Shapeways its a great site that allows you to up load 3-d designs to be printed in many different mediums, plastic, ceramic, steel, and you can get paid to place designs on the site for others to print.

  • @MrVictorPhoenix Seriously dude? how it works?

  • How fortunate that granddad happens to be skilled in using professional 3D modelling software

  • Normal People:

"Uhm a 3D Printer that I can Buy, Nice"

    Designers/Animators/Engineers:

    "OMG I'M CUMIN *NerGasm*"

    That's what I felt.

  • Lol @ 2:15 the printer calles for Black up!

  • Looks great. I work for an Art School that work with 3D software. Is the software compatible with Autodesk Max, Maya and CAD? The students would flip for an opportunity to work with a 3D printer.

  • It needs a 3D scanner so if you want a replica of something, you could put it in the scanner, it would automatically record all the measurements, then print out a copy. (And then if you want it bigger or smaller you could do 50% or 200% or whatever size you want.)

Do 3D printers have anything like that?

  • @wednesday55 The Thing is that With kind of technoly that right now is Only Available with Microsoft's Design an Original Idea (KINECT) the price will Go Up A LOT!

May be in a couple of years when 3D cameras be used in a more open way, we'll see 3D Printers with that kind of Hardware Built In, RIGHT NOW there are ways to do that with Kinect :)

There is a Friend at MIT that has a 3D Printer with Kinect Built in (HE DID THAT)

and he scans his own models instead of going in to the PC to Design

  • @MNiTwInInG Good to know. Thanks for your response!

  • @MNiTwInInG What kinds of Kinect-scanned things is he printing?

  • who else would make little aperture toys if they got one?

  • But will it blend?

  • I didint know we where that far In the future.

  • @lonelywaterbottle We are farther then you think! Trust me,theres many other crazy things out there to.Just no economy for them i guess?Because the price has gotta start out high. And not many people can afford them at first since its a brand new invention.

  • @CookieCrumbs31 There is a huge business opportunity here for a chain of 3D copy machine shops, where people can go to get their copies printed out on what is currently prohibitively costly for an individual to buy, maintain, and operate. I am looking for investors now.

  • @upcycle yes indeed, it's actually hip up now in Indonesia!

  • There is a makerbot, same thing but cheaper (around $1300).

  • Print a gun.

  • those robot foot......close enough

  • If i break my PS3 controller, i could build more?!?! RAGEQuit! ::Prints a new controller:: RAGEQuit!!

  • I'm sorry, you call $2500 AFFORDABLE? Yes, it's cheaper then giant company printers, but come on. You market it like it'll be $60 or something, then never actually say the price in the video. Because its not affordable.

  • @NinjaBuddy98 It's kind of like a..lets see.Like a mac desktop lets say.Its a higher brand and not as many people have it.So they have to keep the price high.None of my neighbors have 3D printers just sittin around. Its a brand new invention.Like the telephone when it was first made.People couldnt believe it...

  • @NinjaBuddy98 It is affordable... like a car is too... if something is harder to produce it is more expensive... anyway I would go with a makerbot replicator... less expensive, more powerful bigger output size. (fully assembeled 1700 Dollar or at a max 2000 Dollars if you want to print in two colors...)

  • @NinjaBuddy98 It's a fucking 3D printer. Compared to what you'd expect, it's not that pricey. You spend much more on a car.

  • @NinjaBuddy98 I can expect it to cost that much because its new technology. new technology always expensive at first but than it lowers to a even more affordable price!! =D

  • @NinjaBuddy98 anybody who has any idea of what a 3D printer is would expect that it wouldn't be 60 $, i wouldn't buy that if it cost 60$ because it would be definitely a piece of shit, these machines are used to create cheap prototypes and visual representations of models. and relatively for what this machine does 2500$ isn't asking alot. Relatively, i don't have 2500 to blow and neither do most americans, its there for those who a. have the money, or b. have a practical use for it, or c. both.

  • @NinjaBuddy98 normal 3d printers cost over $30'000

  • @NinjaBuddy98 Yep. I think it's safe to estimate they will be that kind of affordable in 10 years or so. Just gotta give it time. It's inevitable that these will be in homes everywhere within the near future though.

  • @NinjaBuddy98 also gotta remember, when these things first came out back around 07 they were still about the same price as a luxury car or higher, so it is a pretty huge drop since then.

  • @NinjaBuddy98 Seriously? You're going to bitch bout a $2500 machine that can earn you its price back within 6 months when there are people surfing FACEBOOK via $3000+ Apple computers?!

  • How much

  • i HAVE A QUESTION. IF WE PRINTED BIKE THEN CAN WE USE IT?

  • Interesting. Looks like these devices are really gonna take off sometime soon, what with a certain well known site having people spread the model data...

  • great fantastic who gives fuck anymore jesus christ iwas just amking a simple cooment i a dont fucking care and i tired of getting fucking comments FUCK!!

  • In the future you will contact a company for a broken part and they will email your printer. It will take seconds to send, receive and produce. Much like you've seen on Star Trek. Hay that's a good idea...sure hope someone doesn't run with it and make the world AWESOME.

  • 1.) Buy the printer.

2.) Use the printer to make more printers.

    3.) ?????

    4.) Proft

  • @RT325ci Sooooo, pretty much the Reprap project?

  • @RT325ci Do I detect South Parker?

  • @RT325ci tired of seeing these ignorant posts...

    1) does the printer fit inside itself to be printed? NO

    2) do you think that it will print wires and electrical components? NO

    3) do you think it will print programming? NO

    4) think harder next time...

  • @TaylorHutyra Did you really think that was a serious comment? NO

    Think harder next time.

  • @TaylorHutyra Look up the RepRap project. They're making printers that are made to print half their parts so you can make more of them.

  • How much does it cost, and what if I would like to built one? I'm a 3D specialist and industrial designer and I would like to have one right on my desktop to make something real finally coming out from the screen of my computer, would you please send some more informations about, I could deal sending any eventually 3D object files you might need. Thanks a lot and congratulations for you amazing job.

  • Luckily, some of us are deep into 3d printing through our education, and those who aren't can be given simple software for specific tasks. @jdhitc is right, the new generation is super savvy. Many kids are picking up 3d modeling software like their playing a video game. Designers will continue to be facilitators and people will continue to make on their own as they always have. This time, it's just in a new more versatile manner.

  • our school was looking at geting a 3d printer... it was too expensive though, we got a cnc laser cutter instead, i might show our tech teacher this

also was that blender? the interface at 5:58 looked like it

  • I just bought a printrbot+ for $650 (8x8x8) that was promoted on kickstarter. They even had a $500 (6x6x6) model. If you want cheap prototype models or just make your own stuff, this is really affordable.

  • In the video you seem to be using only white ABS, but are there any other colours availible?

  • Comment removed

  • What language does it use for software design? I have a guy in my shop who needs to do proto and low production ( 20 pieces per month) for some equipment we manufacture. Will this thing work? is the tolerance good on the parts?

  • Where can I go to get a close up view of the work that this machine produces?

  • Well guys, (GHOSTTOYS) I've been out of college for many years. So the teens at school for me was 29 - 33 years ago. The machine for $1,099, is it of good quality and resolution. At some point in the next month, I will post video of the work I do in CNC milling. If the machine in this post comes close to matching the resolution, I'm interested. And MakerBot, Is it a serious machine?

  • Lol he didn't put the printed knob into the oven.

  • The price is currently $2450 for xmas special. It is fully assembled and the output quality is fair superior to a well tuned makerb.

  • @3dprintingsystems

for real? $2500 for this crap? what a load. i build a mendel twice that big with scrap parts for under $200 can probably be done cheaper with an arduino instead of commercial drivers

  • @3dprintingsystems How is this affordable? please explain, the makerbot is twice than cheaper than this and probably outputs the same quality, and you should watch out for the makible, which is a 300$ 3D printer

  • @3dprintingsystems affordable ??? lol

  • affordable you say ! .... yours around 4000$ us ...... makerbot is like 1099 $ us

  • To TheSocialGamer, If this machine is durable, accurate and reliable, it's well worth that. I haven't seen it work first hand, but I have 3 other desk top machines. They are all CNC. Each of 2 of them cost that much. The other one was over 4 grand. So it's safe for me to say. If you want it for less, you are best to find a reliable resource for 2nd hand equipment. I know that if I find a 2nd hand resource, I would have more equipment. If it's new, You get what you pay for. If use look for deals.

  • I've been interested in FDM rapid prototyping for a while. But I've been forced to go with milling out mould plated and casting out the prototype portions of my creations. After that, upon approving it I then assemble and create a rubber mould. FDM machines did not have a good enough resolution for my work. If your machine can supply the resolution, I would be interested only if it is affordable. It looks great. I will look further. Thanks.

  • Its well worth it. About five jobs paid for it. Wow.

  • i would sell you my wife for one of these!

  • i'd imagine one day in the future you will be able to buy a "device" like this that comes with a scanner as well. Allowing the consumer to place any object they would like to replicate in it and the software uploads it to the printer. That way people wont have to learn how to use CAD.

  • I'm sorry but $2,600.00 is not affordable for consumers, it's affordable for a company or corporation. Great product but just to out of reach for my wallet. Even Maker-Boy can be had for around a grand if you put it together yourself. I'll be getting one of those instead, though I would love to use this one. Maybe if i get corp. backing?! :(

  • That is really cool. If it decent CAD software were included for a total price of $499, I'd buy one. I know this is a ridiculous price, but I can't see spending any more on this.

  • 1. Buy 3D printer

    2. Acquire 3D printer blueprints

    3. Print 3D printer

    4. ???

    5. PROFIT

  • People said that driving a car is too complicated for most people... it seems that most people have figured that out.

  • Now I can make my own butt plugs! SWEET!

  • Just looked it up and it says $1500, so much for affordable lol

  • Who is the idiot who disliked this..

  • what does this thing cost? And just how hard is it to master so a person could make models of his/her invention ideas?

  • they still make beetleborg action figures?

  • It looks really cool, though overpriced. Also, Blender ftw.

  • Now it wont be too long until robots start cloning themselves and take over the world xD

  • maybe this is why lego sells for so much now.. pretty soon you'll just need the instructions..

  • cost???

  • this is awesome but seriously 3d modeling is not something joe on the street is going to be able to pick up, i can't see my parents or friends just sitting down and being like oh man i need a robot foot(or whatever), and being able to get all the details of that thing correctly, people go to school to learn all this i just dont see how this would be of use if you dont have a good knowledge of cad or whatever program. this will be great when you can click purchase and print

  • @jdhitc google .thingiverse if you want to see how this really could be useful. While you are at it, google reprap.

  • @Toehead698

all that is awesome and really cool concepts but i still think that if i set that up here at my work 10 out of 300 would be able to do it.... :-/ maybe 20.... :-)

put i still wont one so i can set up my own little business and start making my little figures the easy way(hard way clay, fireing, models, more models and then resin then paint)

  • @jdhitc Thanks

  • @jdhitc well obviously not everything will be created by individuals. Most of those printers allready have a large database of premade objects that you will be able to download and print. Also the products of the future could also come with a cd containing printable spare parts that you could use to replace in case something gets broken. Take your computer for example. did you write the operating system all on your own? what about the software you use? see what i mean?

  • @jdhitc lol... well if you know how to use any cad... you're good... i learned that like my freshmen year in highschool... so... yeah... and i'm pretty sure it's not that big a deal.... haha i'd rather make my own stuff too... can't wait to get one!

  • @jdhitc

People use to say the same thing about the PC

  • @jdhitc 3D modelling isn't as hard as you think, its like learning how to use Photoshop

  • @jdhitc I learned 3D printing by searching for info on google.....just so you know. ;3

  • @jdhitc Going by that logic, a 2d printer is no use if you dont know photoshop.

  • @jdhitc the new generation has little problem with this as cad programs are becoming easier to use and are taught in school

  • @3dprintingsystems yes, im 15, we a a larger one of these at school in PLTW, they are amazing and most teens at my school can operate them easily.

  • @jdhitc CAD software is not that difficult to learn, mate.. I taught myself autocad 3d, rhino 3d and turbocad.. if you have the inclination its not hard.. but regardless you dont need to be able to draw in CAD, you just need the STL file.. I.E. have someone draw it for you or find the plans online and just print that!

  • @jdhitc do you have any idea how complicated a bog standard printer is, its amazing they have gotten the price down as much as they have. Give it another 3 to 5 years and one of these will be about $250-$350. This technology is still in its infancy. HP have started investing millions on these things and it wont be long before other companies jump ship and accelerate development.

  • @jdhitc I dissagree . You tryed using sketchup ?

  • How funny would it have been if once they fixed the foot on that toy robot if when the little kid was moving it broke right away again. Lmao

  • @Ronaldinho0927 The printer prints in tough ABS plastic, so it would be stronger than the original part.

  • @Ronaldinho0927 I thought it would be funny if the robot obviously had two right feet. But seriously, this machine is very cool.

  • @Ronaldinho0927 notta robot, thats a beetle borg...or beetle fighter if your from japan

  • Do you sell this? What is the price? How big the model can the machine make? What is the thickness of the layer?

    Thanks!

  • Palestinian rockets?

  • Wow.

I've looked at other more affordable 3D printers, but this one looks amazing. I'd love to hold an actual object made from it to see it's durability.

  • is it really just 3k? that's not bad, if you're going to make some kinda business out of it

  • @kylle26 Yea it is good.

  • 3D printing will change _everything_ once they start mass-producing these printers for the consumer market. Imagine downloading things from online stores and printing them in the comfort of your home.

  • So when will it be able to print me a mobile phone including the electronics ?

  • We have a 3d printer promotion on until 21st July 2011 where if one you get a 3d circumference scanner for free!

  • What is the 3D programs being used in this video to create the STL?

  • sounds great!

  • Thanks, someone in Queensland won one of our 3D Printers, so hang out and we might have another promotion soon.

  • @3dprintingsystems Can you message me if you ever have any promotion or chance for me to get a try of your printer in NZ? :)

  • great video :) wish i had one!
