Never thought about the Dingo like this before. Thanks for making me aware of it's plight. I love ALL animals but have a soft spot for the Dolphins & after reading this story feel so unhappy for the Dingo now. I hope they can be given some sort of protection. Australia needs the Dingo I believe even though I am from Scotland.
Pure bred dingoes are very rare (except on Fraser island)... The 'Dingos' that you see and hear about are cross bred with feral dogs. The government pays us $50 for each feral dog/dingo that we shoot.
@OzAnimals5 you are so sick what have the dogs done to you the aussie goverrment are so bent and if it was her dog would julia gaulard pay you 50 ponds to killer dog I dont think so the next time you kill a helpless dog think what you are doing some one should report you shame on yoy australia
those farmers in Australia dont deserve to live. a Dingo is worth a hundred times more then them ex con rednecks, May they get 20 years of drought to drive them off that land. The dingo will always live
I found one, a male, years ago. He was about 8 months old and I kept him at home for 12 years. He was so gentle with my cats, children and even other dogs. I called him Rocky. I walked him each day for hours in the streets and campaign. EACH DAY under rain or snow... He loved it. At least this dingo had a happy life!!! His eyes were full of love when he looked at me.
But beware!! A dingo is not like a dog. It loves to feel free. If you cannot offer it freedom it won't be happy at all.
She BIT him ONCE on the leg and it pierced the femoral artery. Where were his parent on this World heritage listed Island? ??? Getting pissed and fishing miles away while their kids were roaming, unsupervised.. Would you say the same uneducated dribble if some idiot let their kids wander Krugger Lion park in Africa ?? Blame the STUPID PARENTS not the wilds animal that was protecting its young from some snotty nosed feral child throwing rocks at its babies!!! STUPID PEOPLE!!!!!
rsmokidd: You stupid fucking moron! in over 200 years of recorded history in Australia, Dingoes have killed ONE (1!!!!!!!) person.. A bratty child that was throwing rocks and sticks at a Nursing Mother Dingo.. THIS IS THE ONLY proven and verified case of a Dingo 'killing someone'.. Some little feral brad kid threw rocks at her babies and she chased him down and BIT him.. Good on her!!
i just heard that perth zoo would not accept a local dingo mother and her pups into the zoo when offered up for free, but instead paid thousands of dollars to have ''alpine'' dingos sent over from the east to the same zoo. the mother and pups will be destroyed if nobody will take out a lisence and offer land to keep her and her pups.
this is yet another disgrace of our country to let our national icons die out like this!
I'm glad I saw this, had no idea...thanks for making the video & putting it out there - if you could drop the (somewhat) annoying text & replace it with a voice over the impact will be even much stronger.
They are beautiful creatures, it's sad & disappointing to know humans do that instead of cultivating & caring...your video brings much needed attention :)
Mankind thinks every thing animal vegitable or mineral has been put on the planet for him to do with as he pleases. Its just a shame he is so short sited . Greed rules his emotions and thoughts , He wont stop until there is nothing left..
@guitarbobb if you look deep enough you will see that it is the corporations and the governments doing this..not individuals. Stop thinking the way they are trying to condition you to think and open your eyes.
They show you organisations that seem independant of the government but i assure you they are all government controlled...and they work for the government and the elites.
@artsychic2000 My eyes are open, This plight is not confined to the poor dingo, but to just about every thing on the planet, from the fish in the sea to the trees in the forest, We are all guilty of contributing to this global devistation, We as a species all contribute to this unless we were to live as cave men it is almost unavoidable. To say that it is governments doing is nieve really, as WE the people demand cheaper meat , oil, timber etc. Mankind itself is the Plague that will comsume ALL.
idiotic humans they have done the same thing to wolves in the states claiming that they cost the cattle industry or attack /kill people last time i checked peple kill more people every dam day then any animal does, so using that idiology go out and shoot your neighbor for the sake of humanity humans can't be trusted!
@ironomega It is humanity without the love of God in them who can save their soul from being turned to dust when the Lord God Jesus Christ comes back with power, and great glory.
For the love of God, does Lord Jesus Christ have a glorious dingo pet or are the souls of dingos condemned to a dusty extinction in the hereafter by gun toting Christians.
@hamboot The non human animal that did not accept vanity willingly Romans 8,20 known as creature will be saved to live in heaven.20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption"death" into the glorious liberty of the children of God. "heaven" Jesus very likely could have a dingo as a pet. Anything is possible in my fathers house.
@furnesy The aboriginals do. They ARE native as much as our people are, White people do not belong in Australia all they do is destroy it with there filth and livestock.I bet you had no idea white people killed thousands of aboriginals and stole there land to have filthy livestock so they have no rights to kill anything. Maybe we want our land back we would do a better job,Europeans caused 18 extinctions in the past 200 years. We did fine without them. go back to Europe and leave us alone
@wks1978 It was here before Europeans arrived. So by legal terms it is native. Mustangs are not native to America but they are a protected species. the Australian Government has a lot to answer to,they caused the extinction of the Tasmanian tiger and they are doing it with the Dingo. Our people were here and worked along side with the Dingo. I am an aboriginal
You shouldn't make a video comparing or pointing out to another animal to ask for help for the Dingo, nor do you need to post gory images of it. There are ways which are not sick to support and help them, get busy with that instead of videos like these.
@finnerss We need to shock people into seeing the truth. no one cared when the Tasmanian Tiger slipped into extinction, and no one cared about the native Tasmanian people either.
It seems that some humans are so fond of destruction, all they know is to go through life leaving a trail of death behind; they will kil animals, make wars and murder people, destroy the world for business or for pleasure.
Here in Argentina, in a southern province there is a similar drive to wipe out the native Mountain Lion- Puma, for the same "reason".
Humans may speak different languages and live in different cultures, but some always show this same dark, monstrous face. Shameful
Thank you sooo much for this video. Unfortunately I see this kind of hypocrisy happening more and more. Anything that gets the tag "feral" is dealt with in an incredible inhumane way in Australia, again funded by the government. Anything science has evidence for when it comes to the subject of overpopulation of a species is disrespected and the hunting lobby gets its "rights" of way. It makes me very sad and very angry, too. So thanks for your outspokenness.
AAARRRGGHHH!!!! I couldn't even watch the whole thing I had to turn off once they start showing those poor dead dingos! Dingos are soooo cute - at the place I work they have Zoo Day once a year & bring in a few animals, they always include the dingos & they are so sweet & cute! Yeah yeah I realize these killings may be for "population control" but maybe a better idea would be to capture, spay/neuter and then release back to the wild! Not torture with poison & smile over their poor rotting carca
I am with you dingodaz. I am disgusted at the treatment of Fraser island dingoes. They are killing them all the time. People say don't kill the sharks that kill swimmers and surfers it's their territory. Well, the land is the dingoes territory and it has just as much right to roam it as man.
Dingo population is unnaturally high due to grazing and land clearing. To protect the species in a now foreign environment requires some killing. A few photos of dead dogs do nothing to support your cause. Which I believe honourable but miss guided. Putting a collar on a dingo does nothing to strengthen the breed, it does in fact weaken it by breeding from a smaller gene pool. The reason the is so fantastic is due to the millennia of survival in a harsh land.
Dingos and common dogs are both descended from the Asian Grey Wolf (Canis lupus) and, in fact, the grey wolf and dogs are of the same species (once again, Canis lupus). Dogs, however, evolved through domestication and/or being around people (I guess). Apparently, the folks roaming around with dingoes failed to have contact with folks roaming around with other dogs, and the same happened among the dogs themselves. Upshot: two dog subspecies of a wolf species.
love your work cuz...ima a kiwi but saw a kelpie dingo breed...my god what a beautiful clean personable and intelligent k-9....couldnt think of a dog id love more...looked just like you loxie...i agree i love my 2nd home aus and i think the dingo is integral to its identity....if you loose the dingo you lose a huge part of australia
Wait, wouldn't the dingo help to bring into check the other invasive non-native species problem that you guys have? Rabbits and cats and frogs, wouldn't the dingo be a huge help in keeping them from continuing to destroy your parks, etc? Forgive me if I'm making a big assumption, but without an apex predator to take down some of the other invader's numbers, I don't see how you all will ever be able to stop them from destroying all the native species eventually.
you obviously know nothing about australian plant species. a majority of them are fire'resistant'. australia has thousands of unreported forest fires each year, mostly due to natural causes. trees and plants developed an ability to insulate their roots from this heat and regenerate. forest fires actually helped renutrify the soil of the forests and although they occur more frequently (which is bad) its not always been bad. same goes for the savannah.
If you think that you depend on dead whales, you are totally making no sense. We all depend on whales alive and in the environmental food cycle. Least that 's Japanese wish. To maintain that cycle whalers need to do research and they hunt only allowed number of them at the same time to maintain the food culture. If you think whales go extinct for that, why do you think IWC allows Japan to do so?
tasmanian tigers and dingoes are non-related in the respect to how they feed.the thylacine was nocturnal, hunted in family groups for small nocturnal animals. it had good stamina.
dingoes are less pack-orientated and often hunt individually for larger diurnal animals. this means that neithe rhunts for the same creature. also dingoes are omnivorous:they could eat anything. thylacines= carnivore =less inclined to survive.
cats and dogs introduced are in greater numbers than dingoes ever were.
humans are the number one cause of loss of life after the last mass extinction
you cannot blame a small insignificant canine for the loss of thousands of different species. people introduced other dogs, cats. aboriginals lived pretty co-harminously with their surrounding fauna, including dingoes. dingoes have only caused problems when introduced to tasmania where another carnivore was.this would reduce the population of prey. wild dogs and CATS kill offbirds. and CATS dont even eat them.
Why is this vlog being abused by Japanese trolls?
They are in no position to police Australia's habitat destruction, although if they aired their grievances in the normal channels, they would have a much more mature response than what Japan has done, on an entirely different species, that nobody has any claim on.
Dingo's are protected. Good luck improving the existing conservationist measures, if you really cared.
but to be honest, whats right for humans is not whats right in general fo rthe planet. if the human race wants to survive it has to keep food chains working. loss of dingoes may seem unimportant to you, but considering how without them we may not have anysort of domestic dog, whaling is destroying a very important food chain, and in turn that will turn on humans.
Yep, you actually looked drugged out to me. You are not quite right in the head, and I think you should leave honest discussions for honest people, rather than playing copy cat to me.
"We beat the Japanese, the bad guy for saving beautiful whales no matter whether it is illegal or not because we are the good one!"
This is exactly what the young girl from a rich family kidnapped by the terrorists believed in.
And that idol crying over whales and supporting the terrorists who practice illegal acts in the name of saving animals exactly reminds me of the rich girl that has been brainwashed.
that makes no sense what you said. but to be honest, saving whales is just as, if not more important than 'losing' terrorists. without whales, and other animals such as rare beetles, frogs, lizards, our world collapses. if you cant care for an animal, how on earth can you care for your own race? we actually depend on LIVING whales to support our fishing. even though we're overfishing
@shazzadee feral dogs are common- dingoes are endangered you are very naive if you believe the government propaganda. Sweetheart do some reading get educated then come back and discuss this issue with the grown-ups.
@Logicbeatslies You are joking aren't you regarding the Australian dingo being the biggest cause of mass extinction. If not your ignorance is astounding. Humans hold that title and it isn't even a close call. Dingos are now an endangered species as shown by new legislation passed by the Victorian Government. But let me clarify I am talking about the Australian Dingo not feral wild dogs, the dingo is a different genetic strain than a feral dog- dog is canine -dingo is lupis.
dogs destory fauna thats retarded you do realize that there where 20 to 30 feet long liszards that killed humans so they burnt down the rainforest where they lived to kill them thats why very suddenlly alot of species of plant died out plus rabbits have caused alot of damage in australia plus no natrual preadators crocs lizards birds
We Japanese are disgusted at the anti-whale fishing of the resemblance non-environmental protection of Watson's SS. To the double standard of an Australian government. We want you to protect not only the whale but also the kangaroo and the dingo. Your governments are using the anti-whale fishing for domestic malcontent measures. It is a shameful act. As for the admission of terrorism, 911 is not impugnable. The living thing is all equal. Thank you this video.
Actually, no, they're not an introduced species. They've been here for over 4000 years. In that time, they've adjusted incredibly well to our ecosystem, keeping down populations of kangaroo, feral rabbits, crocs, etc, and have replaced the Tasmanian Tiger, which man helped to wipe out, as the top predator of Australia.
Without the dingo, our populations of native and introduced species would skyrocket out of control, too quickly for our plants and other native animals to handle.
@RabidGenet Mankind wiped out the Tasmanian Tiger on Tasmania, but it’s thought that failure to compete with the Dingo attributed to the Tasmanian Tiger being wiped out on the mainland and they don't know exactly when ding’s got there, just that it was with man. So to recap humans, dingo's and wild hares are all invasive species to Australia. The only place humans aren't invasive species is Africa. Bats are the only placental mammals native to Australia.
That being said, the Tasmanian Tiger is gone and Australia needs a large apex predator to keep grazers in check. So unless it's necessary, the Dingo should not be culled. Protecting farmland that is damaging to the environment in the long run, and livestock that are rarely attacked anyway does not count as necessary. Screw people and their feelings of entitlement.
@RabidGenet Absolutely, the Dingo didnt have the effect the Red Fox did, it wiped out the Thylacine and Tasmanian Devil, but that was millennia ago, it's now a keystone species that the native wildlife depends on.
Gidday DingoDaz. Well done mate, you did a good job with this video. Funny it has taken me 2 years to the day to see this. Slowly we are getting there to educate the public, but until we have a decent Politician who will stand up for the dingo and make some Legislative changes it will still be an uphill battle.
But the dingo IS a dog. Just of a different subspecies (Canis lupus dingo, as opposed to Canis lupus familiaris) from the usual dogs. (In contrast, all currently living people are Homo sapiens sapiens.)
Every one really must pick at least one thing that they love on this planet and do projects to help what ever it is that they have choosen or have been guided to. Every thing is in trouble.
One point. Officially any animal living wild on the Australian continent prior to 1450 is legally considered a Native Animal. Dingoes arrived here 5000 - 8000 years ago. Before ther Pyramids were even thought of, before the invention of the wheel, before man developed written language. Now tell me they are not native. They have been holding the ecology of this continent in ballance for millenia.
@dingodaz well said- facts to counteract the propaganda spread by ignorance and the our "honest politicians" now what can we do to save the Fraser Island Dingos before the idiots in power kill them all.
The Dingoes biggest threat is from hydridisation with domestic dogs! Plus the dingo fence isn't even ineffective it sure works on our place! I'm not sayin the dingo should be shot to extinction or it shouldn't be managed at all! It is a pest to primary production, though i still reckon its an key australian icon! The appropriate thing to do is still keep managing it with shooting and baiting cause if not you can kiss any sheep production in Australia good bye!
The severity of hybridisation is moderate, but shooting, baiting and trapping programs instigated by the government backed by BOUNTIES on dingo scalps is the main problem. Talked to a farmer not so long ago - the use of baits killed more livestock than the dingoes ever did. The dingo fence is lined with baits and traps, hunters LIE quite often as to what they are killing. I have seen them do this. The total loss to dingoes isn't a blip on the radar when push comes to shove.
No way full blood dingoes are predicted to be extinct by 2020 if hybridisation keeps goin and that was on a report on 4 corners! Plus what sort of herbivour eats baits? I've grown up on a grazing property and we never lost stock to baiting! And how do u know they lie do you have any evidence. When it comes down to it dingoes do need to be managed! The hybridisation of the Dingoes is the biggest factor when it comes to their survival!
Yeh but the doses put into the 1080 bait are a little over enough to kill an animal that consumes the bait it would most likely make stock sick if they drank water which had some toxin but i wouldn't be fatal. Feral dogs is a term given to most dingoes plus if they are a problem the animal they should be shot anyways. Lethal methods have indeed reduced stock losses there is evidence everywhere of that. And no i didn't know black wolves are hybrids but what has that got to do wit the topic?
1080 is a super toxin, its effect are fatal (yes the amount of poison in the baits is strong enough to kill cattle) and there is no antidote.
The fact is that dingoes are not 'feral dogs'. A feral dog is a domesticated dog gone bush, a dingo is a descendant of the Indian wolf. Lethal methods don't solve the problem of another pack entering the area, the act can lead to further predation by inexperienced younger dingoes and causes a major disruption in the balance between predators and prey.
I know a few people up the Glasshouse Mountains using Maremmas for a herd of 700 head. Used to have many predations, when they received the dogs and trained them correctly - their predation problems vanished, not to mention kept the burglars away.
Azaria wasnt found by trackers. A farmer admitted to shooting a dingo and when gutting it found baby remains.(He didn't come forward until many years later because at the time he was afraid because he lived in an area where dingo culling was illegal). Some people believe his story and others (like dingodaz) do not. The point I was making was that dingos can be dangerous as can all wild animals and I don't understand why people debate that!
pt2 so what experience have you had with Dingo's? and you still haven't answered my Q, have you ever lived in the real outbacks?
Yes they are "fluffy and nice", like most wild animals, but, if some nut nut retard forces the issue and approaches them (in most cases the Dingo will keep a distance), then they deserve to get bitten, some people don't have the sense to observe from a distance, that's their problem, and most likely the ones to get bitten are city folk.
Even if that was true 'Dingo shot, remains found..etc etc, that still doesn't "prove" A Dingo "killed" the baby, all it would prove that, a Dingo ate it, and to this day I myself don't believe a Dingo "killed" her either.
i agree see no one meantions that do they?they also kill endangered wombats.i leave wombats along they don't bother me.dingoes are not rare.see them all the time.and i only kill the ones on my land.foxes on the other hand i kill anywere.same with rabbits or feral cats.i do realize those animals are worse.
Shazza (typical) You are completely ignorant of the FACTS.. The Bilby is endangered(extinct now in the Great Sandy Desert)BECAUSE of the Dingo culling. They have lived in ecological coexsistance for well over 5000 years. The culling has broken this balance and allowed Foxes & Feral Cats to move in and break this long standing bilogical cohabitation.Dingoes are NOT common. They become rarer by the day because of ignorant people like you. Research FACTS before opinionating MYTH..
dingoes are common here.and it's a myth they only kill enough to eat one night 2 dingoes killed 6 sheep in one night.they were dingoes not dogs.i only kill dingoes that are on my land, unlike foxes, rabbits, wild dogs and feral cats.i kill them off of the grazing land as well.oh and another big pest are wild hogs
We have a mixed dingo at home (she is my parents in laws but we are living with them on their land), she is the most precious and amazing dog I have ever known. The Australian Govt treats native (as in prior to white invasion, I have no idea when the dingo originally arrived) animals, including kangaroos, in an abhorrant fashion :-(
I'm sorry but dingoes are pests. They are not rare or native. They are just feral dogs.i have killed dingoes, any that walk on my land are killed along with foxes and other pests we have here.they are just another introduced vermin.i have killed three this year already.the only good one is a dead one.you bleeding hearts probably never set foot on a farm.
and u are wrong Dingos are Native and wild-they have them in africa as well!!! and only dead being a good one-they said that about indian people once too & about africans as well-which goes to show the colonialist, imperialistic and speciecistic rotten self u are!!!!there are different ways to keep unwanted animals of your land-the only pest i see here is YOU!!!
dontlikeyou18 YOU ARE A MORON. Dingoes ARE a Native animal by all ecological and legal definitions. Any Animal exsisting in Australia before 1400AD is classed as NATIVE. Dingoes have been on the continent for well over 5000 years. Before the Pyramids were built. Before written language, Before Religion. I think they qualify.. Can you count?? It is the pests such as Foxes and Cats that do the damage to the ecology. Not that you would care. Since when has a farmer cared about ecology?? FUCKWIT!
i live in new zealand and i haven't heard of this. if i won lotto you know where i would be sending most of it. to you. thankyou for sending the message. it is absolutely heartbreaking. even though i live here i will send peter garret a message from afar. dingos are apart of the australian nationality. how can your country not fund them?? dingos are only found in australia, surely that is something to be proud off.!!!Maybe the media needs to be changing there point of view and politicians listen
Although i love the dingo and do think it shouold be saved i think your missing the point. Its not so much humans that are leading to the dingoes extinction its there hybridisation with domestic dogs which is dilute the pure dingo. Also sorry but ya wrong about the dingo fence it does work cause it ran right through the middle of our property and one side we had problems wit dingoes and the other side we didn't.
People allow this that is why it is happening. They believe one person and spend all the money to kill. Look what they do to their Kangaroo's. Australia does not have much respect or regards for animals. Shame...some day they wish they had. Sad video but good one.
Yeh they have the right to live but if they are killing your stock which can give u big losses its not like your goin to stand by and just watch your sheep get the kidneys ripped out and left to die slowly.
Yes, they can be owned as pets. I have owned a Dingo for three years now. I have had dogs all of my life and was raised with at least 4 dogs in my house as a child at all times. And the Dingo, is by far the sweetest, smartest, most loyal and most interesting dog I have ever owned. She's also a beautiful animal and incredibly well tempered.
To think what people do to them is awful, as they are so much like the dogs so many of us own as pets. The dogs that we consider family.
It is my understanding that the dingo is a decendent of dogs brought over from Asia about 3 thousand years ago. Just look at the Korean National Dog (which they eat) and similiarity is hard to miss. Animals like these will continue to suffer until governments stop putting ranchers and hunters agendas of hate as their first priority. Great vid.
What an incredibly sad and unnesecary cruelty. I sad situation that anyone would want these beautiful creatures dead. It disgusts me. thanks for the awareness on this.
I am crying so much now, I can hardly type a comment. Ever read the book 'The Dingo Fence' by Phillip Holden? It tells the story about how cruel Australians have been to the dingo.
I really hate Dolphins. They are responsible for countless acts of infanticide as well as the slaughter of any porpoises that come their way (theoried to be practice for the infanticide). They're known to attack people on a somewhat regular. Additionally there are two documented cases of people being raped by dolphins. On the other hand, I have never heard of anyone being attacked or raped by a dingo.
It's about time we realise which animals deserve our protection.
Are you kidding?Dingoes attack people all the time! Particularly children and young teens.enter Azaria Chamberlain disappearance into wiki (the most famous case in Australia because the mother was wrongly convicted!). They attack people ALL the time. They are an extremely vicious pack dog that should not be approached!and dolphin attacks are not "regular" lol.People rape other people but does that mean you hate all people because of it?!? They are extremely intelligent. Maybe more so than humans.
I specifically look for Dolphin unsafe tuna. You think that smile on a dolphins' face is anything other than a smirk of self-righteousness and superiority? It's about time that we eradicate our seas of the cetacean menace.
shazzadee If u believe "A Dingo" took Azaria, then u believe what u like, have u ever lived, experienced the outback? or taken a trip to town which takes 3 days, or getting to know the aboriginals? My family, Im sure the people who live and lived the outback life, wouldnt believe a "Dingo took my baby!" where we lived many Dingos came around, (while my brother who was 18mths wondered about the yard) but Dingos NEVER came to close. these Dingos knew their boundaries to cross.
Regardless of whether you agree with me or not, leaving an 18 month child wondering around the yard when you are aware that there are wild dogs around is extremely dangerous not to mention stupid...you're brother was just lucky not safe. so you can insult me all you like.....
shazzadee...Whats the matter with you, did the clampets have a yard sale????? lol. HELL THE HELL would you know?, have you ever lived in the REAL outbacks, it's only your opinion. I'm going by facts, and no he was not not left on his own, as you like to put it, both parent were there with him. it's people like you, that give the Dingo's a bad name.
Yes you're right. It is my opinion! And it is my opinion that the dingo (though I don't wish them harm) is not in need of protection at this stage based on the fact that they are not yet classified as endangered. They are catagorised as "vulnerable" due to uneven numbers(abundant one place, scarce another) and hybridisation with domestic and feral dogs!Dingo's have a bad name because people approach them and then get attacked because people like you tell the world how fluffy and nice they are!
If you're ever after anybody else to help out with anything, myself and Cobar are at your disposal.
I'd like to get a bit more "hands-on" but it's a little tricky with my work as I am unavailable some weekends but can sometimes get some arrangements changed with enough notice!
Thanks Lauren,..This video and all Dingodaz entries are done by Leigh,my partner who understands more of how to get a message of great importance out to the world.. Loxie and myself are so lucky to be in his grace..Love to Leigh XXX and all who love animals.Daz

Those poisons aren't going to work. The dingo is going to read that sign and know not to go in there. Stupid humans.

i just heard that perth zoo would not accept a local dingo mother and her pups into the zoo when offered up for free, but instead paid thousands of dollars to have ''alpine'' dingos sent over from the east to the same zoo. the mother and pups will be destroyed if nobody will take out a lisence and offer land to keep her and her pups.
this is yet another disgrace of our country to let our national icons die out like this!

We did fine without them. go back to Europe and leave us alone
spaceship1961 1 year ago

Well, the land is the dingoes territory and it has just as much right to roam it as man.
ms767210 1 year ago
Dingo population is unnaturally high due to grazing and land clearing. To protect the species in a now foreign environment requires some killing. A few photos of dead dogs do nothing to support your cause. Which I believe honourable but miss guided. Putting a collar on a dingo does nothing to strengthen the breed, it does in fact weaken it by breeding from a smaller gene pool. The reason the is so fantastic is due to the millennia of survival in a harsh land.
aussiebowman 1 year ago
Dingos and common dogs are both descended from the Asian Grey Wolf (Canis lupus) and, in fact, the grey wolf and dogs are of the same species (once again, Canis lupus). Dogs, however, evolved through domestication and/or being around people (I guess). Apparently, the folks roaming around with dingoes failed to have contact with folks roaming around with other dogs, and the same happened among the dogs themselves. Upshot: two dog subspecies of a wolf species.

If you think whales go extinct for that, why do you think IWC allows Japan to do so?
momox4isfunny 1 year ago
tasmanian tigers and dingoes are non-related in the respect to how they feed.the thylacine was nocturnal, hunted in family groups for small nocturnal animals. it had good stamina.
dingoes are less pack-orientated and often hunt individually for larger diurnal animals. this means that neithe rhunts for the same creature. also dingoes are omnivorous:they could eat anything. thylacines= carnivore =less inclined to survive.
cats and dogs introduced are in greater numbers than dingoes ever were.
EvilLoony 1 year ago
humans are the number one cause of loss of life after the last mass extinction
you cannot blame a small insignificant canine for the loss of thousands of different species. people introduced other dogs, cats. aboriginals lived pretty co-harminously with their surrounding fauna, including dingoes. dingoes have only caused problems when introduced to tasmania where another carnivore was.this would reduce the population of prey. wild dogs and CATS kill offbirds. and CATS dont even eat them.
EvilLoony 1 year ago
Why is this vlog being abused by Japanese trolls?
They are in no position to police Australia's habitat destruction, although if they aired their grievances in the normal channels, they would have a much more mature response than what Japan has done, on an entirely different species, that nobody has any claim on.
Dingo's are protected. Good luck improving the existing conservationist measures, if you really cared.

What is truly "the right thing"?
If it's the right thing, then why is it illegal what SS members do?
If the Japanese whaling is "the bad thing", then why do you think we strictly follow the IOC regulations?
In the entire history white people always persecuted the other traditions out of their one-sided ethics.
It's time white people stopped this cultural violation.
momox4isfunny 1 year ago
hey you're generalising alot.
but to be honest, whats right for humans is not whats right in general fo rthe planet. if the human race wants to survive it has to keep food chains working. loss of dingoes may seem unimportant to you, but considering how without them we may not have anysort of domestic dog, whaling is destroying a very important food chain, and in turn that will turn on humans.

But let me clarify I am talking about the Australian Dingo not feral wild dogs, the dingo is a different genetic strain than a feral dog- dog is canine -dingo is lupis.
echosmum 1 year ago
I agree with you, but wanted to point out:
domestic dog: canis Lupus familiaris
dingo: canis Lupus dingo.
the order is Canis
the genera is Lupus
species is the last taxa.
dingos are a seperate species, within a genus with dogs, wolves.
but they can interbreed. so both are canines and both are lupines.

RabidGenet 2 years ago 13
@RabidGenet Mankind wiped out the Tasmanian Tiger on Tasmania, but it’s thought that failure to compete with the Dingo attributed to the Tasmanian Tiger being wiped out on the mainland and they don't know exactly when ding’s got there, just that it was with man. So to recap humans, dingo's and wild hares are all invasive species to Australia. The only place humans aren't invasive species is Africa. Bats are the only placental mammals native to Australia.
Outlawzero 1 year ago
That being said, the Tasmanian Tiger is gone and Australia needs a large apex predator to keep grazers in check. So unless it's necessary, the Dingo should not be culled. Protecting farmland that is damaging to the environment in the long run, and livestock that are rarely attacked anyway does not count as necessary. Screw people and their feelings of entitlement.
Outlawzero 1 year ago
@RabidGenet Absolutely, the Dingo didnt have the effect the Red Fox did, it wiped out the Thylacine and Tasmanian Devil, but that was millennia ago, it's now a keystone species that the native wildlife depends on.

One point. Officially any animal living wild on the Australian continent prior to 1450 is legally considered a Native Animal. Dingoes arrived here 5000 - 8000 years ago.
Gaschy 3 years ago
The severity of hybridisation is moderate, but shooting, baiting and trapping programs instigated by the government backed by BOUNTIES on dingo scalps is the main problem. Talked to a farmer not so long ago - the use of baits killed more livestock than the dingoes ever did. The dingo fence is lined with baits and traps, hunters LIE quite often as to what they are killing. I have seen them do this. The total loss to dingoes isn't a blip on the radar when push comes to shove.
WiseWolf87 3 years ago
No way full blood dingoes are predicted to be extinct by 2020 if hybridisation keeps goin and that was on a report on 4 corners! Plus what sort of herbivour eats baits? I've grown up on a grazing property and we never lost stock to baiting! And how do u know they lie do you have any evidence. When it comes down to it dingoes do need to be managed! The hybridisation of the Dingoes is the biggest factor when it comes to their survival!
Gaschy 3 years ago
1. Hybridisation is an issue but not as detrimental as those of human origin.
2. 1080 is a super toxin that can spread its poison through water and touch. A cow doesn't have to eat the bait itself.
3. I've seen quite a few pictures of full bred dingoes called 'feral dogs' by hunters and farmers
4. Dingoes are apex predators quite capable of waxing and waning with their food supply
5. Lethal methods have not ceased depredation issues.
6. Did you know that black coloured wolves are hybrids?
WiseWolf87 3 years ago
Yeh but the doses put into the 1080 bait are a little over enough to kill an animal that consumes the bait it would most likely make stock sick if they drank water which had some toxin but i wouldn't be fatal. Feral dogs is a term given to most dingoes plus if they are a problem the animal they should be shot anyways. Lethal methods have indeed reduced stock losses there is evidence everywhere of that. And no i didn't know black wolves are hybrids but what has that got to do wit the topic?
Gaschy 3 years ago
1080 is a super toxin, its effect are fatal (yes the amount of poison in the baits is strong enough to kill cattle) and there is no antidote.
The fact is that dingoes are not 'feral dogs'. A feral dog is a domesticated dog gone bush, a dingo is a descendant of the Indian wolf. Lethal methods don't solve the problem of another pack entering the area, the act can lead to further predation by inexperienced younger dingoes and causes a major disruption in the balance between predators and prey.
WiseWolf87 3 years ago
I know a few people up the Glasshouse Mountains using Maremmas for a herd of 700 head. Used to have many predations, when they received the dogs and trained them correctly - their predation problems vanished, not to mention kept the burglars away.

Azaria wasnt found by trackers. A farmer admitted to shooting a dingo and when gutting it found baby remains.(He didn't come forward until many years later because at the time he was afraid because he lived in an area where dingo culling was illegal). Some people believe his story and others (like dingodaz) do not. The point I was making was that dingos can be dangerous as can all wild animals and I don't understand why people debate that!
shazzadee 3 years ago
pt2 so what experience have you had with Dingo's? and you still haven't answered my Q, have you ever lived in the real outbacks?
Yes they are "fluffy and nice", like most wild animals, but, if some nut nut retard forces the issue and approaches them (in most cases the Dingo will keep a distance), then they deserve to get bitten, some people don't have the sense to observe from a distance, that's their problem, and most likely the ones to get bitten are city folk.
vonedel 3 years ago

Even if that was true 'Dingo shot, remains found..etc etc, that still doesn't "prove" A Dingo "killed" the baby, all it would prove that, a Dingo ate it, and to this day I myself don't believe a Dingo "killed" her either.

I agree, of course!

Great video!

I'm going by facts, and no he was not not left on his own, as you like to put it, both parent were there with him. it's people like you, that give the Dingo's a bad name.
vonedel 3 years ago

Daz/Nic and everyone else involved & responsible for the production of this video - well done.
It was very moving and I hope it opened some more eyes to our beloved dingoes plight.
I will be sending it around to everyone I know.
