I am one of the harmonies to all the notes you play,Al !! One stage before as example and many, many more of your masterpieces. Thank's for posting, uploader!!
So beautifully, enchantingly mystical, w/ lyrics/arrangement suited together perfectly, and once again: content highly intelligent and precocious...As stated before, when I bought this album (cat) in my early 20's soon upon release, it was unfortunately a bit over my relatively superficial, wee head! Such complex and erudite lyrics easily superceded music/production for me. Pretty much same story w/ entire musical recording biz both then and now, generally speaking, as well...
its a bit uncanny the line " half familiar faces in the second row " as in 1973 I was in the 2nd row at fairfield hall croydon, and he said" I can only see to the 2nd row and theres my friend", reffering to me, which was nice. since he went to america hes a bit more off hand, but the musics still good.
Back when Columbia House was still in business.......this was one of many albums I bought. And I accquired it just about the time I was attending community college, taking a creative writing course and into the whole poetry thing. I had naive, silly dreams of being a singer/songwriter, or at least writing songs for a struggling singer who would someday make it big. Those were the days.....
..."And some of you are harmonies to all the notes I play although we may not meet, whilst others talk in secret keys and transpose all I say." I find this truth every day.
This song is just so amazing!! I so love the feel of this song. So haunting to the soul!! Takes me back to better days. This song takes me back to days of true happiness and innocence. I miss those days. My heart just aches for those days. What a time that was! Never to be forgotten! There was a magic in the air back then that you just cant feel today and that is a real shame. This song is pure magic in itself! Missing those days but hold the memories in my heart forever!!☺♥

This man had some amazing music, just as good as Pink Floyd in my opinion. Great guitar solo.

Being a Al Stewart fan and a Moody Blues fan go hand in hand. I've been immersed in both for 35 years. Their music never gets old. It is timeless.
