  • One time I was in a bathroom in a youth hostel in Guangzhou, China and the lyrics to this song were written in sharpie on the wall. It was about 1988.

  • 56 people would rather have a trip to planet Uranus...

  • Ha ha, check out Fred, rockin' the 'tasche!

  • i remember when this came out.we love it and i still love it.

  • Was Fred related to Irwin Allen? Seem a bit like a Guy Williams tribute..with that 'stache and all!

  • Surf Zombie

  • One of the longest hooks in pop music, the intro is almost half the song.

  • LOVE this song!!! Went and saw them last night at The Grove in Anahiem, this song was their oncore along with Rock Lobster. They were fantastic!!! I saw them 28 years ago and they are still as awesome as they were then!!!

  • What a blast from the past! Still love it!

  • this really is the best b52's video!

  • If people ever ask you "what was punk rock" tell em this was punk rock.

  • didn't they re-name Pluto, 'Planet Claire' a few years ago? Yeah, I thought so...

  • these guys are crazy ,,,,just sends shivers up my spine could not get me off the dance floor when it was number one ,,up there with ,,rock lobster ,,private idaho ,,i have it all on vinyl ,,dubstep it ,,why not ,,lol

  • Pine knob, '83, 2nd row, bitches!

  • . S.H.I.T

  • Geniuses. ahead of their time.

  • fred

  • Great memories of a really fit girl who used to dance to this song when It first came out , and at a time when I was just starting to visit night clubs for the first time. Great song, great girl.

  • yeh ryan tell those dumb buttholes whus really goin' on. dey ain't about shit...

  • I am going to planet Claire,to much chemtrailing here on Earth.

  • I am proud to say I have this on my ipod! :D

  • All I can say is... so glad that I got to dance to them in the time that was the 80's...What fun I had!

  • "Some say she's from Mars or one of the seven stars that shine after 3:30 in the morning ..... WELL SHE ISN'T !!!!!" Classic punk. I love it.

  • one of the best concerts I've ever been to was the B52's

  • yes sr166 PETER GUNN. MANY artists have used the song. DUANE EDDY would be a billionaire if he sued everyone who used the PETER GUNN song.

  • THIS is the BEST b52s song ever recorded or performed. i saw the b52s in 1979 at the COMMODORE BALLROOM in vancouver. it was the best rock concert i ever saw. the dance floor was springy so the ENTIRE audience simply jumped up and down the WHOLE time. we were all sweating from HEAD TO TOE by the end of the show. exhausted and thrilled. no time to get drunk and even if you were drunk youd end up sober from the exertion. FABULOUS!! there was NOTHING like them. btw album 1 is #1. PLAY LOUD

  • may favourite from them

  • Anyone know the dance Kate and Cindy are doing at 0:03?

  • @sdgakatbk yeah man the dance they are doin is the monkey

  • more cowbell

  • Syracuse University, on the Hill, Leslie Proulx loved this group...

  • lol @ 52 dislikes on B52's...

  • im confused with these people considerd like cool or whatever back in the day? or was this like the rebeca black of the old days?

  • Hey,If any of you have seen the movie Monsters vs. Aleins,They play this song in the credits!

  • monsters vs aliens brought me here!!!

  • my ex came from there sent her back lol .great band ti amo Kate.

  • She drove a Plymouth Satellite...

  • haha finally found it's been stuck in my head for a minute..peter gunn sample!

  • Who takes the time to go back and listen to the B52s and then hit the dislike button. That doesn't make any damn sense. This song is 32 years old. Its not like its bangin on the radio now. Dumb asses.

  • @MrRyan1962a I just re heard this song on NPR here the other day

  • @MrRyan1962a

    Dude I soooo agree!

  • @MrRyan1962a And someone dislking this affects you because?

  • @MrRyan1962a Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No matter how fucking ridiculous. Which means that, UNFORTUNATELY, people are ALLOWED to hit the dislike button. Though I sincerely agree with you!

  • The B-52s are by far the wackiest band ever!

  • When Caucasians first discovered cocaine, it got interesting. But just for a while. If you blinked, you hit it.

  • I love how pissed off Fred sounds going into the second Chorus, the "Well, she isn't!!!". Sounds genuinely angry.

  • @Numonkei no just gay

  • This can't be an original B-52's video, is it? I can tell it's the original 1979 recording of the song and see it's a rather clever compilation of several of B-52's vids though and you can't mistake the Rock Lobster!

  • @sirkalin1 It's a compilation for sure, but I have a feeling this was released as a real promo for the song at some point.

  • i just feel GOOD when i hear this....thank god for this band...over 30 years of making me wanna dance

  • I don't know why, but any time I see early B-52 videos, I'm reminded of Joy Division.

I guess it's the raw production values.

    Love it!

  • sweet as left right

  • Fantastic group...but I still maintain its Roger the Alien from American Dad on lead vocals......?

  • I wish I could spend my time doing silly shit like this.... But I have to go to work now ]:

  • So quirky and weird... it's awesome. Great sense of fun they have.

  • the b52s rock thats all i have 2 say

  • Saw them at the Cleveland Agora.

    Paid for tickets.

Someone scammed them, took money didn't deliver tickets.

Told sob story at the door.

    Got in.

Was right in front of Ricky Wilson.

    Danced the whole set.

  • i remember this and still takes me back ann

  • cool riff.

  • красавцыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыы!!!!суперррр!!!

  • The b-52s were one of the best things that music ever did

  • another great peter gunn sample was,, Genteels- take it off,,,1962,,,gipsy rose lee dances

  • This song is just too cool !! Funky.

  • im surprised there r 1977 peaple even cool enough to know about planet clair

  • 1:16 look at the singer dude go. He's got some moves going on there.lol

  • they were so young.. we all were..

  • Who is the dude with the cowbell? He's got quite the groove going there at the beginning.....lol. Love these guys!

  • YEAAAAH! A classic of the end of the 70s. What a good idea the JazzFest had of inviting them. Although their voices are not as "precise", the energy and the music are just the same. They're unique.

  • they just closed Montreal JazzFest with an awesome free show downtown. This was the first song in their encore. Shoulder to shoulder crowd for blocks....

  • @ECn4ii I was there too! It was absolutely fantastic, what a great way to end the festival! :)

  • I hope they play this song tonight at the montreal Jazz fest. it is a free outdoor concert and there is over 100,000 people expected tonight.

  • Love the staccato guitar.

  • pantera

  • It's like a psychotic version of the Peter Gunn theme song.

  • GOING TO SEE THEM in a few days at the Jazz Festival in Montreal !!!

  • oh yes.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx love it

  • is it true that the band was discovered by david byrne and eno?

  • Classic...

  • great tune

  • ...that's Islington Finsbury Library, St. John St EC1...

  • Islington Library do not have any B52's CDs. This is criminal. Protest jam outside Thursday nite 5pm Thursday 7th July where "Rock Lobster" will be performed- I'll be playing Bass, anyone else?

  • I love these guys and I dont care who knows!! lol

  • I sing this to my baby sister as a lullaby to get her to sleep. <3

Gotta start them early on good music! Because music today just ain't cutting it.

  • I love how there are literally 2 minutes before any vocals in Planet Claire lol...

  • 47 people have no musical taste...

  • OMG...how does someone come up with these lyrics???

  • @yuthdog Lots of illegal substances, lot and lots! LOL

  • killer tune ...

  • ...still sounds like 'Roger the alien' from American Dad!! Top tune though.

  • Why was the music faded out?...The ending stops abruptly...it would sound cooler to just play out the whole song.Still my favorite B-52's song after all these years.

  • Fred Schneider is and will always be a very eccentric individual. So funny and a true perfectionist. A very educated musician/artist. B52'S is a true classic!

  • spazialeeeeee

  • awesome

  • This was a fun time in my life :D

  • I Remember This From The 70s,,, They Invented Pogo Dance

  • an old favorite...and at sporto10101010, this one was actually from the 70's...they spilled over though.

  • nice of you all to post this

  • Dont have to worry about the pixels I just turn it loud!......... close my eye and just be seduced by my most favourite "Happy" song from my youth!

  • epic keyboard..... such a good track

  • For some reason this music and video make me want to watch Liquid Sky.

  • If I had a dollar for every pixel in the video, I'd have a dime.

  • best music there is no comparison!

  • I always loved their music and I still do.

  • the most original band in the world! i fell in love with them in 1980. what a trippy band. Love those guitars. and the vocals!

  • Went I first heard this song....I got scared!....Then I thought it was and is hilarious!

  • this is the affect of acid.

  • My God this was over 30 years ago....AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I was in college then, Im an old man!!!!!

  • Has any1 seen my hair hey Planet Claire........

  • sounds a little like Peter Gunn Beat...O_o

  • lol i'm only here after watching charlies angel 2

  • Those were the golden days and they ain't comin' back. You just had to be there to know what I mean.

  • @Lumicite Saw them in Athens when this single had just been released in an audience of about 50 people. It changed the way I looked at pop music forever.

  • @Lumicite I was there, I bought this cassette when it came out in 79, you will never hear another voice like Freds again, and I love Kate Pierson, she is hot, straight out of Athens Georgia, I miss these days.

  • @Lumicite some of us are still there when we listen to this. Time travel.

  • what do you have to offer after the 80s?

  • my son knows now that we were insane...love dem b's

  • HAHAHA I had no idea this tune's name was planet Claire haha

  • Such a unique sound... they were/are geniuses!

  • for gods sake... this is why I am glad I was born after the 80's... jesus

  • @SterneNash LOLOLOLOL.... oh yes you mean the 80's the decade of MTV & oversaturation of crappy bands yes I remember it well.... The state of music is simply wonderful now thanks to MTV..... lololol.. yeah right...

  • 80's !! I love The B52's!!

  • Holy shit their first album was good. I only know them for their super cheesy stuff.

  • @sleepx2 I have a few of their CD's but I always play their first one in rotation. In high school most of my friends were older and listened to hard rock, metal, Zeppelin, etc and the B's were my guilty pleasure when I was alone. I'm one of the fastest workers at my job. Amazing what listening to Rock Lobster w/your head phones on after a shot of a 5 hour energy drink how much work gets done.

  • Ha! What a bunch of weirdos!

    I love 'em. XD

  • Here's to COlonel Kurt's. Apparently he was only looking for a fight according to Afro, wasnt' up to humping it ova the course, enway thnx 4 all the help, I will always be grateful. I had a dream once where people only walk in dreams. The weirdest thing was it was set in Sth Amerique, years later was one about a pack o headless zebra's vs a white horse that scared the shit outta me. Looking back I realise being so ugo I needed the insecurity of logick and reason. The fool I was.

  • superb - more superb than superb!

    i forgive you america.......

  • why can't i make it louder, baby jesus?

  • i will hear this for ever

  • ficken

  • alive in the 70's that should be, from poster above, as this was B side to rock lobster 1978.

  • The B-52's are a band that really knew what punk-rock was all about. The point was to mock rock-and-roll, not to try to "defeat" it. They knew how to have fun and put a smile on my face every time one of their songs would come on the radio.

  • WELL SHE ISN'T!!!!

  • @MrMisterMetalfreak I laughed outloud over that line in the song....what a fun goofy song

  • @MrMisterMetalfreak possibly one of the finest lyrics in the history of lyrics ever.

  • God help me, I still love those gals.

  • whats wid der hair??....

  • oh the big big hair I love this band. the 80's were the best

  • Post punk classic.

  • Hellooooo 80's....I saw the B's many times....still love them...

  • While we're diggin' this Peter Gunn riff, leave us not neglect "Mission of Mercy" by the Motels.

  • How can U not love every second of this vid!?

  • 44 people think she's from Mars

Or one of the seven stars

That shine after 3:30 in the morning

  • awesomeness....♥♥♥
