One time I was in a bathroom in a youth hostel in Guangzhou, China and the lyrics to this song were written in sharpie on the wall. It was about 1988.
LOVE this song!!! Went and saw them last night at The Grove in Anahiem, this song was their oncore along with Rock Lobster. They were fantastic!!! I saw them 28 years ago and they are still as awesome as they were then!!!
these guys are crazy ,,,,just sends shivers up my spine could not get me off the dance floor when it was number one ,,up there with ,,rock lobster ,,private idaho ,,i have it all on vinyl ,,dubstep it ,,why not ,,lol
Great memories of a really fit girl who used to dance to this song when It first came out , and at a time when I was just starting to visit night clubs for the first time. Great song, great girl.
THIS is the BEST b52s song ever recorded or performed. i saw the b52s in 1979 at the COMMODORE BALLROOM in vancouver. it was the best rock concert i ever saw. the dance floor was springy so the ENTIRE audience simply jumped up and down the WHOLE time. we were all sweating from HEAD TO TOE by the end of the show. exhausted and thrilled. no time to get drunk and even if you were drunk youd end up sober from the exertion. FABULOUS!! there was NOTHING like them. btw album 1 is #1. PLAY LOUD
Who takes the time to go back and listen to the B52s and then hit the dislike button. That doesn't make any damn sense. This song is 32 years old. Its not like its bangin on the radio now. Dumb asses.
@MrRyan1962a Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No matter how fucking ridiculous. Which means that, UNFORTUNATELY, people are ALLOWED to hit the dislike button. Though I sincerely agree with you!
This can't be an original B-52's video, is it? I can tell it's the original 1979 recording of the song and see it's a rather clever compilation of several of B-52's vids though and you can't mistake the Rock Lobster!
Like something non-mainstream? Then you may like KOZMIC DREAMERS. I find their artistic vision and expression of ideas refreshing. If you listen to them you may like them and perhaps buy a song or poem from itunes. Thanks for reading this.
WOW! Hell yeah! Love the B52's. Listening to a lot of B52's, Blondie, Hey You!, Joan Jett, No Doubt, and Patti Smith. We need more rockin' girls in 2011 !!!!
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. But they've got a cute chick singer and she ROCKS hard! you should check em out...
YEAAAAH! A classic of the end of the 70s. What a good idea the JazzFest had of inviting them. Although their voices are not as "precise", the energy and the music are just the same. They're unique.
they just closed Montreal JazzFest with an awesome free show downtown. This was the first song in their encore. Shoulder to shoulder crowd for blocks....
Islington Library do not have any B52's CDs. This is criminal. Protest jam outside Thursday nite 5pm Thursday 7th July where "Rock Lobster" will be performed- I'll be playing Bass, anyone else?
Why was the music faded out?...The ending stops abruptly...it would sound cooler to just play out the whole song.Still my favorite B-52's song after all these years.
Fred Schneider is and will always be a very eccentric individual. So funny and a true perfectionist. A very educated musician/artist. B52'S is a true classic!
@Lumicite Saw them in Athens when this single had just been released in an audience of about 50 people. It changed the way I looked at pop music forever.
@Lumicite I was there, I bought this cassette when it came out in 79, you will never hear another voice like Freds again, and I love Kate Pierson, she is hot, straight out of Athens Georgia, I miss these days.
@SterneNash LOLOLOLOL.... oh yes you mean the 80's the decade of MTV & oversaturation of crappy bands yes I remember it well.... The state of music is simply wonderful now thanks to MTV..... lololol.. yeah right...
@sleepx2 I have a few of their CD's but I always play their first one in rotation. In high school most of my friends were older and listened to hard rock, metal, Zeppelin, etc and the B's were my guilty pleasure when I was alone. I'm one of the fastest workers at my job. Amazing what listening to Rock Lobster w/your head phones on after a shot of a 5 hour energy drink how much work gets done.
Here's to COlonel Kurt's. Apparently he was only looking for a fight according to Afro, wasnt' up to humping it ova the course, enway thnx 4 all the help, I will always be grateful. I had a dream once where people only walk in dreams. The weirdest thing was it was set in Sth Amerique, years later was one about a pack o headless zebra's vs a white horse that scared the shit outta me. Looking back I realise being so ugo I needed the insecurity of logick and reason. The fool I was.
