The ending answers a question I have. Will a KORG automatic tuner using E..A ..D..G.... work? My Mandolin is a Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin. Is this a good one? The wood features seem equal too or above much more expensive models..you tune from High to low...Why? I tend to tune from low to high is there a difference. THX
@Chaz6993X no. G, D,A, E. the courses (pairs of strings) are tuned in unison. so from highest pitched string to lowest, it would be ; E,E,A,A,D,D,G,G.
Dude, I just spent 7 minutes watching your vids. and you know what? I can play it like I play the guitar for the past 34 years . it is so easy Cuz Of you, Thanx dude, Peace,Talon
@RachieMyers I LOVE electronic tuners.... No matter how much I think I've got an instrument tuned, I check it with an electronic one and it all sounds sooo much better. It's been a year for you...have you got it all figured out by now and are playing?
If you buy an electronic tuner, make sure it has a "violin" or "chromatic" setting. You can use a guitar tuner if you have to because guitars have G-D-A-E strings too, but a violin tuner is a little easier to use. You can get tuners that clip on to the headstock of the instrument and sense the vibrations. That's great when you are trying to tune in a noisy place.

this may sound silly but i imagine you a refering to string "1" ,"2", vica versa to be the combination of the grouped strings.?
