After Effects is a very user-friendly program, just like Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and its other brothers. What you're mainly doing in it is dragging and dropping effects to video layers then changing the parameters of the effect. You can also mess around with the motion and use keyframes. But you'll need a couple tutorials to get started.
Out in Hollywood, major effects films such as Harry Potter,are made with Shake for Linux and Final Cut Studio.Others use FCS and AE because they integrate.

Yes, we treated ours too, mostly food and catnip. He loves paper balls to play with, the house is filled with them.
I think by next year he will be getting more presents than me. lol

i use Sims 2 (its a game). but i have other videos with special effects and those are usually done with adobe after effects.

Careful, paper and wrapping can be harmful if ingested, especially things like ribbon and string.
