Quick question... I just bought a new mic and it has the same problem with the one that i replaced which had the same things wrong with it and when i try my new mic on a different controller it still has the same problems.. so is the problem with the mic, the controllers or the xbox?

just keep turning your controller on and off as in remove the battery pack several times. then keep on playing, after awhile your controller will turn off by itself and turn back on with the player 1 light blinking. then try to talk. thats what i did.

I would buy your headsets elsewhere and it's a short in the wire that happens from static electricity and snapping the wire on the connectors on each end of the wire, I don't think the headsets are grounded and I used to get electric discharges from my headsets through my wireless controller. Electricity would go into my mouth and into my ear! But it could have been the police not microsoft?
So I just gave the top part of the tip a couple light squeezes with the needle nose plyers and it worked! I feelz so smart nao!!! Lulz!!! If you guys are gonna try this Make sure you squeeze it lightly and only do it a couple times, then plug the mic into your controller and test it to see if it needs any further squeezing. With the top of the tip extended slightly you will be able to make the connection and your mic should work fine! If you want to thank me, Check out my Channel!
I haven't worked out a solution to this problem, other than pushing hard when you insert your mic in. I'm about to experiment with a pair of needle nose plyers to see if maybe I can extend the microphone tip just enough so that it reaches the input properly and makes a normal connection.

What the problem is, is that the microphone tip that you insert into your controller has "shrunk" over time. If you do a side by side comparison with a working microphone, you will see it's about 1mm short

@owner123100 Nope doesnt work that way. Cause it keeps doing it. A headset has the value to go up to 3yrs if you take perfect care of it if not then about 6months to 1 year. Either the talking part goes out of the hearing part does. Sorry buddy.

@rachelamysmithtv : Well you can do two methods. 1 which is easier is go buy a new mic. Or 2 which takes some time fooling around with is, the jack isnt responding to what is inside the port in the controller. So its your mic not your controller but it aint responding to the controller fully. So you ether wrap it around your controller or you twist & take out & put back in till it works. Its really annoying, so I suggest to buy a new one. They cr*p out after awhile. Hope I helped! (:
I ran into the exact same problem. I'm going to tell you what to do so you don't mess it up again. 1. Don't pull the mic out by the cord. You probably the wire inside by doing that. 2. Never bend the wires. It could possibly split the wire inside.
dude you wrap your mic cord up around your controller so its wrapped once around your controller and you pull ( not too hard ) and it should work, but your better off buying a new mic

there is a little pisce on the plugin part of the cable that is missing i would know it happened to five of my mics it breaks off really easy if you plug it in wrong
No, I dont think you can fix it :/ You gotta just go buy another mic. If you find a way let me know cause I still have my broken one. It sucks I know it costs like 20$ but thats 20$ you can spend on something else. So you gotta bare with a bad mic or you gotta waist 20$ to buy a new one. (unless you get a wireless; which in my opinion are horrible mics lol)

Im not sure but for that one I think you need to wiggle it around and keep trying to plug it in & out makes take a few but once its in im sure it will work. If not then I have no clue buddy. :/ Wish I could be more helpful.

please rate this up cause it works a LOT of the time:
1) Get a wire for your wireless controller
2) Connect the wire to the USB port
3) Connect the other end to your controller
4) plug in your mic
5) It SHOULD work
i think its beacause of something to do with the mic not reciving power from the batteries when in wireless mode

sometimes when i connect it works for like 2sec and then it just goes out i can't hear or talk and sometimes doesn't connect at all

there is a little pisce on the plugin part of the cable that is missing i would know it happened to five of my mics it breaks off really easy if you plug it in wrong

No, I dont think you can fix it :/ You gotta just go buy another mic. If you find a way let me know cause I still have my broken one. It sucks I know it costs like 20$ but thats 20$ you can spend on something else. So you gotta bare with a bad mic or you gotta waist 20$ to buy a new one. (unless you get a wireless; which in my opinion are horrible mics lol)

my problem is that its plugged in and its turned on but when i talk there arent the little lines showing me talking and no one can hear me. any suggestions as to fixing it?

Im not sure but for that one I think you need to wiggle it around and keep trying to plug it in & out makes take a few but once its in im sure it will work. If not then I have no clue buddy. :/ Wish I could be more helpful.

that happens to me il be talkin and it stops workin so i pull it in and out 4 about 4 min and it finally starts workin

It does it if I move the wire alot. My controller will restart to make the mic work but if I move it goes out again. I really hate it :/
