  • so adorable, you must pick up beads all the time

  • I love all the hairstyles but are those beads sore at night?? I got my hair done like that when I was really little but I can't remember anyway good job :)

  • You do such a great job! And it also looks like you are doing a great job raising your children♥ Cutos!

  • @guineapiglove444 - personal preference. I just didn't like the way the turned out. They look better in the pictures than in real life and I didn't like the way the felt, or the way they tangled up over time etc.

  • are B and V the same age?

  • @lebriae - no, B is 2 years older than V. People think they are twins or can't tell who is older all the time. Poor B. She is taller than V, but not by much. If you knew their personalities, you would know that B is older :)

  • i love the hair.. yeah the but all that work to get it to grow the you lock it..

  • I love her styles!!!

  • You won't have to worry about it for B, because of her locs, but doing the "latch hook" thing is actually easier if you use a crochet hook. It is a nice way to get two or three looks out of a single set of cornrows. Look it up and see what you think.

  • There's a pic I noticed in another persons video "hairandbeautydirect black and mixed race children.." She took a pic from your slide and ur daughter and added to hers!

  • are these little girls your step kids ?

  • You do such a great job! I am a black mother and am not a very good braider but my sister is. Watching your videos has taught and helped me alot! Thanks for these!!

  • Y lock her hair up?

  • Wow her hair looks so great!! I'm trying to learn how to do that with my daughter right now lol. I'm trying to figure out how to do her hair though cause my daughter doesn't have the kinky hair that bi-racial kids get her hair is just curly and soft lol. So when I do put braids in it they are out the same day. Her hair is really fine. Do you have any suggestions to products that I could use in her hair?

  • you got really good

  • cute!!!

  • 1:20 thats looks sore......

  • @MrPuddlesLikesPink3 you mean the scalp? Idiot.

  • did your daughter choose to have braidlocs? and does she still have them?

  • hi

  • Wow...excellent job!

  • You do a great job with their hair & I LOVE the choice of song.

  • you do a great job on their hair!

  • You do a fantastic job! The more u braid it the longer it will get too. My daughter lost all her hair @ 6 months and now its down to her neck and she is 5. Keep up the great work.

  • Oh snap, you're white ? OMG . I thought that was a Black Mama doing these cute hair styles on their little girls , well damn, you go girl, pretty damn good. I LOVE IT . I wish i could corn row, though i dont have any little girls only a boy. I wish i could learn how to do this on my own hair, Does anyone know if it's possible to do these kind of styles on your own hair or does someone else have to do it for you ?

  • it looks like she was in a hurry

  • I love all of these styles!!

  • wow so pretty. you should do a step-by-step tutorial for the veil style with Halloween coming and many girls will want to be Princesses.

  • You are truly talented. By just watching your clips I am now able to cornrow and style my grand niece`s hair! Thanx.

  • You have created some amazing styles. Kudos to you for learning how to work with African American hair without adding chemicals. Your girls are gorgeous and you have done an awesome job with their hair. Keep up the great work.

  • I have done my hair like the first one and my mom called it spider braids so thats what i have been calling lol.

  • wow! You're such a caring and patient mommy!

  • dont you think that you pull her hair too tight.. there is more scalp then hair in some pictures??

  • @KiwiMangoHusband - no, I think the way I cornrow actually prevents the hair from being pulled to tight. I think the reason so much scalp shows on B is just because she has extremely fine hair and it isn't that thick.

  • @Katelynylyn I really commend you for taking the time out to learn how to do your daughter's hair the correct way and keeping it healthy. God Bless

  • @Katelynylyn Scalpiness is one of my problems with my own hair. I look at other girls with thick heads of hair and I'm like, no fair lol. Your daughters are just so cute, and you are doing such an amazing job with their hair, wanna do mine? lol jk.

  • @KiwiMangoHusband Also, the exposure on the pictures makes it look worse than it looks in reality. Believe me.

  • You did a wonderful job, i loved all the style you showed, loved it. what shampoo, and Conditioner you use on your daughters hair. There hair looks so healthy.

  • Great work Mom!!!

  • i'm sorry...but i am in shock and awe that you know how to do this...i am soooo not prejudiced...i love all races, and have friends of different ethnic backgrounds..but I have never seen a white person or any other race other than black be able to do this...i am proud of you..lol....i will be trying these on my daughter..that is the reason i always wanted one, to do her hair...a real-life doll baby...anyways..i hope you see this as a compliment...God bless you and your family...

  • Can you do a tutorial on the veil style?

  • @RosieBear1203 - yes I have a tutorial on the veil style - click up at the top where it says Katelynylyn in blue and it will take you to my channel page. Scroll through all of my videos and you will find it near the bottom!

  • I love the fact that you have take the approach to keep your baby's hair...it's amazing how someone of a different ethnicity has enough respect for her baby's hair to keep it as is...as a young girl my mother relaxed my hair and at age 20 i find myself having to start over at 19 to achieve natural hair again!!! Kudos to you for taking the effort to learning how to do little black girls hair instead of taking the easy aproach and slapping a relaxer in it...thank you for keeping her heritage!!

  • @Katelynylyn: your an awesome mother and just because of that......isubscribe! lol

  • @IndiaDiana - Thanks!

  • @IndiaDiana how do you know shes a good mother

bc she knows how to braid??

stupid comment on a hair* video

  • @JamaicanCutie18 well thanks for your concern with my comment that was not directed towards you....if you look at the comments previously, you would realize that the comment you see above is part 2 to another comment I wrote earlier ( i ran out of space for writing the rest) commending her on taking initiative to learn how to braid her adopted daughter's hair and learn hair care for someone that doesn't have hair like hers...sooooooo yea, thanks for your negative comment!:)

  • Katie I love the videos of the hair journeys. For one thing, they give me such inspiration as to what I could possibly do, and for another, it gets me so excited to be able to do my baby girls hair someday. If only she would sit still now, but really I'm lucky if I can do just a bit of finger coils in the front of her hair since she's a busy 12 month old. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

    Many blessings,

    Andreana

  • i love what your doing with the girls hair, it growing sooo much!! (i wish my hair grew like that!) lol. But i must give you this tip. The braidlocks: good idea, but they are way too small when they start to get really long they'll get heavy and pop. Im not saying its going to happen, just telling you as a precaution!! over time you may want to combine the smaller ones. =]

  • @luvfunnyflix - we have already combine a few of the really tiny ones - we will see if she needs to do more in the future

  • You can get the hair bead slyder from thehairbeadslyder website to apply beads to the end of the braid or twist.

  • WOW!!! you have inspired me to try some new hair styles.... on my God daughter! Thanks for all the videos! <3

  • what made you decide to lock her hair? ='( Was this something she decided? Oh btw...her braided hairstyles were very creative and cute!

  • I must applaud you sister for showing your love for these babies through how you care for them. For all the negative comments you receive just pray for them because hurting, insecure people don't like to see others free from bondage and doing something positive. So I want to tell you thank you as Christian first and African American woman second for taking care of two precious babies sent from God. God bless you and continue being the awesome example to other women.

  • VERY CUTE BUT HER EDGES ARE THIN FROM PULLED BRAIDS BUT SHE'S ADORABLE

  • If you need a tool to apply beads try thehairbeadslyder , that's also the name of the site. Good Luck :) beautiful styles here. The tool is not expensive and very durable.

  • Is she really Liberian? I have three Liberian children. Two boys and a girl. Adopted three years ago from Acres of Hope.

  • You have got major skills. I really enjoyed watching your vid. Gave me great ideas for my four year old daughter!

  • aww why did yu lock it?? =[

  • you have major talent! very cute hairstyles!

  • why wont u do the latch hook extenshions they are soo cute i love that look its fancy and elegant

  • wow ur really good :)

  • you are a sweet lady for adopting them

  • I ended up in tears when this vid was done. Beautiful human beings sharing a wonderful journey. Great hair. Vids were awesomely helpful to me as well :-) Oh gawd, I'm tearing up again lol...

  • i really liked the faux french braids! that was an amazing hair journey too btw

  • Her hair is gorgeous!! I love all of the styles. Very neat! :)

  • wut song is this

  • I believe it is called "Liberian Girl" - it's Michael Jackson. The second song is by Jack Jackson and I think it is just called "Angel"

  • when are yu guna make new videos? i realy love them

  • I was just wondering, are your children Adopted ? I was adopted, and My mother who is white only knew how to do really one style. She would braid in weave with the box braids, and she would add the beads at the end, and I would like to show her these styles so she could try on my younger sister -

  • Her Braidlocs look awesome. I have been sisterlocked for 3 years now and I truly love my journey. I think it's the best thing I ever could have done. Thanks for sharing. If you ever get a chance I would love to see B's progress with the braidlocs. It's almost a year!

  • omg I love it

  • nice i did mi girls hair like that

  • how you do them braid lockzzzz?????????themmmm hot

  • Just put her hair into a bunch of tiny braids and left that way permanently! About once every 6 weeks we tighten them with a latch hook which keeps them looking nice.

  • i just want to say i love what you have done...and i loooooove this song by mj!!!!

  • never mind the question in my last comment

  • i love your cornrows what song is this?

  • wow! i'm blown away. i'm more than blown away actually. this is too beautiful. i wished u would have continued with this journey though instead of giving her the locks - you have some beautiful style ideas! but i still love it anyway! God bless you!

  • Its fantastic you want your girl to look fantastic all the time with her hair! I try to do the same with my daughters hair! I dont know what braid locks are though!

  • beautiful styles!

  • beautiful

  • wow! her hair has come a long way! good job = )

  • You are amazing. You have a beautiful

    family. God Bless!!

  • 5 stars 4 the song!!!! U put so much luv&care into her hair....i luv it!!!! Great Job =)

  • her hair looks healthy! its very well kept up and im sure its growing a lot!

  • Now I really have some hair ideas I braid my daughter's hair and my sons so I want to be able to have some very cute styles that my son can rock too. I'm doing some of these on my son but instead of barretes I'm going to use beads if I have to if not I'll just let it be plain :)

  • Aww! Her hair is gorgeous! It just saddens me that if she wanted her hair unlocked she would have to cut it. If locks were not forever I would probably them.

  • you can remove locks. It takes a while but it's possible

  • Before this journey were you two perming your hair

  • I have never used any kind of perms or relaxers on my girls hair

  • "YOUR GIRLS"....I love it...I wish you all the best in your lives...God Bless!!!

  • lovely pics...oh and great track...xx

  • so does she have locks know?

  • yes, for over a year now

  • your braids got perfect!! her hair got long

  • nice hair dos

  • what products do you use?

  • Absolutely beautiful!!!!

  • Interesting

  • hello, im learning to corn braid but cant get the hang of it, ive been doing loose braid on my daughters hair, when i try to corn braid i start fine until going down and need to pick up hair, and advice, also how long did it take you to learn, you do a beautiful job on your daughter's hair, wonderful job.

  • hey. im looking to adopt. but finances are low and these people are taking forever just to send me a simple letter (and we are in the same county). so, was the process easy for you? were the costs low? what state? thanks.

  • All is beatiful, ...

    sorry my inglish

  • WOW you ar talented.

  • You are so talented. these hairstyle are amazing so neat and beautiful.

  • love the song choice for this video. beautiful hair!

  • lundha hair styles on 4:07 and on 4:16 those r my fave one

  • im sure she doesnt want to post the childrens names all over youtube given the number of perverts in this world!

  • yeah cuz its more dangerous to post a name than a FACE. either way the woman is clearly talented. i've been braiding since i was 7 and my cornrows dnt come out half as pretty.

  • u are doing a great job. many non-african americans would opt out for relaxers for simplicity. you put in time and boy does it show. kudos to you!

  • Phenomenal work! I'm totally inspired to do my girls hair for this school year. I have 3 daughters (7/5/5) and I did not look forward to doing their hair because my cornrow technique took too long and I didn't have many style ideas.

I look forward to seeing more videos - could you show how to part the hair for cornrows into pigtails style. How long does it take you to do a style? It took me 1 1/2 hours just to do cornrows into ponytail (and my girls are patient like yours.)

  • Pretty much every style I do takes 3 or 4 hours. I have one style that is like 8 large cornrows and that takes about 2 hours, but everything else is at least 3. And of course extensions are even longer!!

It depends on the length of hair. V has REALLY long hair now so it takes forever to comb and then really long to braid just due to length. But, I think I am a bit slow, and I take a long time to put in parts because I am a perfectionist :)

  • i love the fact that even though your white and have black kids you didnt let them run around looking crazy you kept their heritage and thats beautiful i see it all the time even white women that have bi racial kids they dont know what the hell to do with their hair and the fact that you was like im gona keep them looking tight and practice until i get it i admire that hell im black and know black women that dont take pride into their kids hair like that i do though i love to do my daughter hair

  • @prettyeyez301 I agree and its all races in my opinion it took me awhile to learn how to braid cornrows, but I always kept my daughter shair combed not flying everywhere some moms just are lazy take PRIDE In your kids its G-ds blessing to you!have a magical one ºoº

  • Man I need to start braiding styles like now i am so impressed, I mean seriously impressed you go girl. you know the crazy part is I didn't know you were not the same race until I went to your page. I was like now I know I need to get it popping on these styles for my daughter. I know how to braid its just styles and parting kill me. Not to mention taking it down. I had to laugh when I saw the 1 style you said you said you would never do I totally understand. Awesome Job

  • May God bless you and your babies

u do a really good job with their hair

  • maybe u should try not straightening the hair because ive see many black/asian get their hair braided without getting it straightened

  • I love how u do their hair!

  • you should do a "how to" videos

  • you should look at her videos before telling her what to do

  • lol...

  • You truly have beautiful children.

I wish more people in this world were like you, and I have so much respect for you girl.

And I'm just curious, if you don't mind me asking, I really truly am not trying to be rude, but I hear the MJ song..Where are you children from?

  • yes - my kids are Liberian :)

  • All I can do is applaud you. These are amazing videos!

  • hiya d styles u done are so cute. is ur husband white or black or what? xx

  • the kids are adopted.....

  • Yeah I know that. They are clearly black and not mixed. I was still interested to know.

  • You can really do hair... Are u ever going to update b's braidlocs??

  • Truly a blessing for you baby girls. What a woman to keep their culture so alive and vibrant. More women need to see this because there's still little girls runnin around looking a hot mess b/c their moms don't want to do their hair while THEIR'S is done! Keep it comin Katelynlyn

  • did you adopt your daughter ? and all your cornrows are AMAZING i love them (: you should show a tutorial video on how to do some of them (:

  • ok I watch your videos all the time over and over again can you please put up a video of showing youtube how to do that swirl thing in your hair or can you put a video up about doing letters in peoples hair pleeeeeeease your a hero thanks so muxch if you do.

  • Wow. Just wow. I am in awe. I first saw you vid on how to add beads. Way easier than I thought! Then I looked at the yarn braiding tutorial and just tried it earlier this week. I'm very impressed with my first try! I'll do much better the next time. Please elaborate on coconut oil. I have some in my pantry for cooking. It's pretty expensive. Do you use a particular brand or type and do you mix it with anything?

  • These styles are amazingly cute! So is your daughter. You kid great job learning over the years and keeping her hair beautiful!

  • the styles are beautiful...i really love the cornrow styles a little better thatn the braidlocs though but that's just my opinion. You are truly gifted. I wish i could braid so i could keep my daughter hair braided. I think i am gonna be bold and try ot braid it on my own rather than keep paying someone. My only flaw is that i can boxbraid but can't cornrow. Keep up the great work.

  • You are wonderful I love the way you take care of your girls hair, and I like the braidlocs.

  • i love these styles

  • I love these hair styles. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old girls and i will be copying some of these styles and trying it on them.

  • I think it is so awesome that you have learned to style your children's hair. I wish more mothers would learn to style their daughter's natural hair instead of relaxing it or having their daughters wearing weave. Good job!

  • You are absolutely awesome!

  • Great Job, i love every picture and i want to say adopting the girls and learning how to do african american hair styles was very special and keep up the good work.

  • All the styles are sooo beautiful & artistic!~

If I could get my hair even half as lovely as that, I'd be content.

  • i am cosmetologist. Kate is doing great. Not too tight there is no bumping. Both V and B hair is healthy shiny strong and thick. Their hair is growing so fast.ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. The unique way in which she braids from the middle of the strand allows the braid to be secure to the scalp without putting excessive tension on the scalp not to mention the underhand braiding allows you to secure without pulling. GO GIRL.!

  • cute...........good job.

  • nice stay sweet love it

  • argh, my mum needs to learn a few things from you, this is great

  • first i want to say you and your daughters a very beautiful, i think adoption is a serious way of showing true love for another human being. thank God you're there for them and they"re there for you too,lol i love you skills honey and then locking one of the babies hair wonderful idea! God bless you and your whole family, and keep the vids coming.I like how precise you are. I love how you took the time to learn how to work with their natural hair, again pure love.

  • y would u never do the extensions again

  • to tikiandmandy09,

extensions are not good for childrens hair it is tacky and doesn't look well.

  • ohhh thanx alot

  • oh n' another thing, the tension/tightness on the hair is too much for a child, also some weave hair is not a good look for kids, like the latch hook extensions in this video but all of the other styles that she did in this video were beautiful, she did a great job on their hair

  • very nice and and very creative styles

  • her hair is gona b longer then her sisters

  • Kate, why did you decie to lock b's hair vs V's? I love locs and hers are beautiful, just curiousas to why one and not both? Thx

  • Her locs are going to be so long and beautiful by the time she gets in middle school. They are already full right now. And for the ppl worrying about ther permancy of locs. I wouldn't worry about it. Locs can be taken down and detangled. It is just a long process but it can be done where you retain the length you've grown.

  • How beautiful and thanks for sharing. You are really talented with hair

  • Ese video me dan ganas de tener una hijita para hacerle peinados así xD

  • u do better an some blacks i have seen. i bet they hair is always right, some need to learn that

  • i love the faux french braids

  • damnn braidlocks wud cause major hair loss for me...omg...i bet that took foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • God Bless you! Really beautiful!!!!

    Peace and love, Angie

  • THOSSE FAUX FRENCH BRAIDS ARE RAW!!!! I LOVE THEM. You are truly talented, keep up the good work!!!

  • OMG....can you totally teach us how to do the "Faux French Braids" at 3:22!!!!

  • this is why i want to have a baby girl, pretty hair styles.

  • Absolutely stunning. Thank you for your videos! I can't wait for more!!!

  • Thanks so much for sharing, you are clearly a great teacher, your explanations and well defined methodology make it so easy to learn!

Your dedication and love shows and I am glad you take the time to post for us all

  • You and your girls' hair have come a long way in 3 1/2 yrs. My 2yr old and I just love watching ur videos. She even pointed out a couple of styles she wanted while we were watching B and V's hair journeys.Could u do vids of the faux french braids and the splits braids? Those look so amazing. God's really blessed u with a gift for braiding and u in turn are blessing not only ur girls but ppl u'll probably never meet. Don't stop!! xx

  • You've done a wonderful job with her hair. I Love your styles and have used them on my neices. Thanks

  • katelynlyn...i think the braidlocs are pretty you are soo talented!

  • beautiful girls, beautiful hair, and you have a talent for braiding. however ... please dont loc their hair. locking is permanent and can only be removed by cutting them off and they will have gone thru the growth process for naught. the decision to loc if not by reasons of faith should be a personal choice made by someone old enough to understand the implications of non-reversal. if you are gonna do braid locs...take them down before the hair locs into place.

  • locs can be taken down without having to cut them off, there are several methods of how to do so here on youtube. It is timely however, but it can be done without having to cut the hair off, what you lose is hair that would have shed in the natural process anyway.

  • I spent a good year weighing out the pros and cons and discussing the options with my daughter before we made the decision. She loves her locs! They suit her personality well, and she looks adorable with them. I hope she decides to keep them for a really long time, but if the time comes that she wants them out, we will try to take them out, or we will stop latching for a while and when we cut them she will have at least a few inches to start with.

  • We have grown her hair once, I know it can be done again, and I know many beautiful styles I can put her hair in while it grows. I don't see that as being a problem.

  • There is definitely nothing wrong with locking your babies' hair. Locs are beautiful!!! There are many different types with varying symbolic meaning associated with them. The most important one is a simple one: It says, "I'm going to do what I want with my hair or my child's hair and express what I believe to be beautiful despite anyone's opinion" Your work is beautiful and we can see that you clearly take the time to do what you do :) Have you ever heard of Sisterlocks? I love them!

  • Yes I have heard of sisterlocks. They are beautiful. I think B's braid locs look similar and are maintained pretty much the same way.

  • wow thats amazing very nice job

  • Her hair is really growing!! Fantastic job.

  • I love all the styles you do. I've copied many of these styles on my daughter's hair. You are truly a blessing. Thanks for posting.

  • YOU are amazing! I admire you!! Her hair is never been healthier! Im soo glad you didnt decide to relax her hair!
