  • ARNETT BELONGS TO THE GODS His beauty blows me away

  • great video, great players and thanks COBB !!

  • Thanks so much for posting this video- I have been seaching for videos of Jimmy

Ford for sometime-I first saw Jimmy at a coffee house in Houston called "Pucho's

Purple Onion" in the late Fifty's or early Sixty's -my friends and i were doing Beat

Poetry to jazz - one of my fondest memories is Jimmy standing in the middle

of this coffe house on a Sat. night blowing "There Will Never Be Another You"

  • Clarence Seay is on Bass. He played with Lou Donaldson for over five years.

  • Troy, I can share some stories with you. Met your father a couple of times. Very sweet men both of them. So happy to see this!

  • Finding these few videos of Jimmy and Arnett brought tears to my eyes. My Dad Ira Bertrand, aka Big Hearted Bert, and Jimmy were runnin' buddies for years in Houston, in fact he was my Godfather. I grew up with him around both at home and the many times we went to hear him blow, (could I tell you some stories). I have numerous pics of him in my office and will cherish these videos.

Thank you so much for sharing

  • I last saw Arnett Cobb in the early 80's at the Keystone Korner. I still can't get it out of my head. One of the all time greats. Lou too!!

  • Great Arnett Cobb ! ! !

  • I have heard of Arnett cobb before but this is the

1st time ive seen or heard him play; Nice Arnett solo.

Great Old School set, truly enjoyable.

    Thank you BOB.

  • La buena musica no tiene edad ni fronteras ,me encanto este video que leccion ver tocar a Arnett Cobb con muletas!

  • Did the first tenor sax solo open with a whole tone scale riff?

  • Who is the White Guy?? Awesome

  • @mj13243

The alto player is Jimmy Ford. He played in Maynards early Birdland Dreamband. quite a player. Get the Ferguson album "Message from newport" and hear Jimmy play some outstanding solos, in particular, a track called "The Fugue"

  • arnett cobb is amazing. and I'm embarassed to say I didn't know who he was.

  • My absolute favourite tune
