  • The problem I had with the book was the following;

    Static's new ugly ass costume!

The fact that they didn't start the series off with using familiar villains from the original comics and the cartoon.

I hate the fact that they cut Static's hair somewhat by at least 15%.

Also that they didn't start off where the cartoon left off and just abruptly ended.

  • at least we still got batwing

  • one of the big reason that static shock was canned was 1. the creative team didn't agree with each other at all one wanted fast(McDaniel) and the other wanted a build up(Rozum). 2nd it wasn't promoted properly. and 3rd and the most important the story wasn't solid in my reviews i complain about "sister clones" i read the Static comics and seen the show. strangely i enjoyed the new comic till the 3rd issue but overall static shock had way too much action with less story and character development.

  • I can't help but think conspiracy. Why would you hire the dude that worked closely with the creator but couple him with two others that not only don't know that character but have more authority? Rozum said most of his ideas were shot down and he felt the project became substandard. Almost as if it was meant to be a kamikaze. Reboot DC, put a couple of nonwhite books so no one says they're racist and then cancel them shortly later on as if to say, "See? We tried but nonwhite books don't sell".

  • @DaRunningMan I hear you.

This kinda shit was my reason for pointing out the racism in comics aimed at the brown skinned characters.

This dude isn't real, and they served him up a nice batch of "ROADBLOCK" just like he was a real black man before the civil rights movement.

    It's a shame.

And people need to take notice. This is a constantly occuring pattern. So many folks think it's just aimless talk...but here's a perfect example.

    We gotta stop this shit.

  • Static was and still is a corny ass hero, i see enough of his "twins" anyway all over america, a bunch of fucking dread heads lol.

  • @JayTekken1 LOL!!!

    REALLY?

The dreads don't define the character brother!

He"s actually one of the only black characters that doesn't really fall into any stereotype except "everyman".

You should read the older milestone issues.

  • @STRYDENT what about blade and green lantern, actually more so what about blade? They say he didn't get his respect but i think he did, he was on another level compared to this guy, plus he was more of a vigilante like batman just in a vampire universe.

  • @JayTekken1 fuck you.

  • i was so sad when this fail i couldn't even read this after the 3rd issue became so stupid i was a fan of the cartoon and a fan of the character kinda wanted grifter 2 get cancel or green arrow boy are those boring btw when i heard about the new 52 coming with static shock i was kinda hoping it would done a crossover with the blue beetle comic another of my favorite character now tht would have been sweet but now we well nvr know

  • @heartbirthbysleep I hear you. I had hopes of seeing Icon and Rocket in this series, but we'll never know what could've been.

  • keep hope alive

  • After McDuffie death, it seems DC feels the pressure is off, Static apart of the Justice League. I'm impressed with his success and at San Diego Comic Con would speak on his "personal" frustrations Static in the DC. I might get some flack, but "to me" after a certain point of his success Dwayne McDuffie should have focused on his Static character. His lineage are all the stories of OTHERS characters, instead his own. This is why there's isn't a strong personal universe around Static. So Sad!

  • @RyasukeRealm The funny thing is, John Rozum was a part of McDuffie's legacy in a way. They worked together professionally and Rozum went the extra mile trying to keep the whole ball rolling.

It's just a shame that the "Powers that be" at DC are still on that old generic comic mindset that they can't see potential when it's right in front of them.

  • A pipe dream for me would be purchasing the Milestone Imprint or "name" from Warners / DC some day and rebuilding the company ... Their are great artists out there who have stories to tell & really don't have an outlet at this junction for mainstream recognition & acceptance. Once the money starts raining in ... That's when the "establishment" comes calling with that large check that so many of us want. Be 2 damn good and watch 4 the knee-jerk reaction that gets you paid.

  • @dageekundaground I feel you 100%!

If I had it like that I'd have done that long ago!

  • When Static first priemered, although I wasn't a fan of John Paul Leon's muddy artwork ... the title kind of grew on me until it became apparent that they were gonna tell crap stories like the issue where Virgil's best buddy comes out of the closet. Static has the potential to be this generation's Spider-man, butt short sightedness mucked up the works. Its a shame really because DC is simply throwing potential revenue into the furnace.

  • I knew it would happen. Mr. Terrific was canceled shortly before this. Never read Mr. Terrific nor knew he existed until 2 years ago. Was into static from the TV series. Out of the billions of brown dudes with electric powers he was my fav. Blue Beetle is still hanging in there and I guess Bat wing is next to drop.

  • @DarkShadowM99 The sad thing is that the characters this happens to are not purely Wack characters. Good writers could work wonders with em. Kirkman or even Clairmont(love im or hate im) just for starters, coulda done amazing things with a character like Static or even Mr Terriffic.

    It's a shame.

  • @STRYDENT agree have u read animal man or swamp thing both c-list character but with great writer made them so much fun 2 read

  • @heartbirthbysleep OH YEAH! Definitely! I mostly read Swamp thing. I loved how deep his stories were. The fact that he was like an Earth-spirit shaman hybrid of sorts was awesome!

I only read a few books that guest starred Animal man. But I've heard his book was cool.

  • this is a major blow, my favorite episodes when he teamed up with the future batman and justice league.

  • @THEBURNINGPUNCHX Yeah. He was real cool in JLU.

It really saddens me that shit like this is still happening.
