having the same problem with my 887, it acts like it is not fully into battery even though I work the slide the same each shot, fires 2 or 3 fine then fails to fire, light primer stike.
yea i the black 887, first year it came out. the only problem i have with the gun is i cant keep shells in it. i have never had a problem with it. My opion is its the best gun on the market, all remingtons are.
I got one and It would shoot for me either. I googled the problem and it said you gotta push the forfend forward when you shoot it's another safety give it a try if not that really sucks brother
Remington is a huge company they have so many guns out there and I'm sure plenty of people like some of the folks that commented here send their guns back for multiple reasons. They can't get to your gun they day they get it back and just like everything in the world they can't make everyone perfect.
I have the 887 in black. It has given me many problems. The shell wont eject, therefore I can't shift the gun. So it jams. I take it apart and reassemble it. Same thing. This always happens to me
dude shut the fuck up ive been having my m887 for 3 years and put hundreds of shells threw it and it's stiil working fine so that means u don't know how to fucking put a bullet in right.
@Colby9545 relax princess. there are guns that are not that well made. you will have a few off the line that have issues. just because you haven't had any issues doesnt mean he's an idiot. it has nothing to do with putting the shell in correctly
Remington customer service sucks! ... My 870 finish was trash, sent it back for refinish and it took them 2 1/2 Months to get my gun back to me. To make a long story short, my 870 is still rest haven for rust, no matter how much I clean it, lube it, the rust returns. I have to clean the damn thing more than I clean myself.
Remington's quality has gone to shit in the last few years. I've seen several Remington firearms in the last while that are absolutely horrible when it comes to build quality. Just horrible. I will not, buy or recommend a remy ever again. Total Junk! If you want a Value minded gun, look elsewhere. If you want a top quality gun, get a Beretta!
@waubamikrider Bought a Winchester SXP Defender that was made in Turkey for $299. The quality is better than any Remington I have ever handled and action is tighter than an Mossberg (used to own a 590a1 sold it because it rattled). Anywho if Remington was going to copy the Benelli Nova, they could at least done it justice.
I've had the same issue with my 887, I find it does it less (still does it) with 3.5" shells and after a good, thorough cleaning. My buddy has also had the same issue. Disappointing, but I also like the way it shoulders, and it tends to pattern well.
my 887 works flawlessly since ive had it and i have put all kinds of shells through it target load, buckshot.tactical shot ,turkey shot ,duck shot........never had any problems
I had the same problem. If you take the rifle apart be careful to tighten the screw cap that holds the slide in. If it is even a smidgen loose the pin won't hit the primer. Happened repeatedly and I was cursing the gun until I figured it out. Worked great after that.
I had the same issue last year with my 887. My guess is that you keep taking your gun apart WRONG. I did that last year and I had to hold the pump all the way forward for it to fire. When you take that gun apart you will loose the pin placement and it will do that every time. I sent mine back to Remington, they fixed it for free. I hunted all duck season with it this year and haven't had a single issue with it. I hunt with 10 guys and all have the 887, it is the BEST waterfowl gun made!!!
@ACHUNKYSQUIRRELL654 now thats a dumb ass remark! Every gun definitively does not misfire......its no wonder there is so many antis out there. That has to be one of the dumbest comments posted on youtube.
Im a Remington fan, and a proud shooter of two 870's but this 887 has some major issues that need to be addressed. Remington's new rotating bolt on these shotguns are lose. You must have the pump in its most forward position or else you will get these light strikes on the primer. If you close the bolt and it locks, you will notice it still has some play in it. That is yor problem.
ive had my remington 887 for a while now hunted with it and all that and never misfired first time i shot it it never misfired a round yet mabey the paint or tape u put on it pushed it a lil to far away from the bullet or ur retarded and the gun is pritty much brand new and still working the problems out
Hey fike why don't you get a life and stop with your negativity bullshit on every single Remington 887 video!!! I've neveseen someone hate on a shotgun so much. It's a great gun I haven't seen a bad review yet about this gun. I bought it a while baxheérrtand shot it and it is a Only bad review I seen is from this video and it's probably the shells.
There are several videos with the same issue you have....one I laughed at was the video review that towards the end realized the sight bead was missing! I agree junk.
I have one and no problems. how old are those shells I had some old ones that the primers got hard and wouldn't take a strike from any 12 ga that i have
Check your firing pin for metal shavings, when guns are brand new every once in a while the factory accidently leaves small metal shavings preventing the pin from making a clean hit. Easy fix don't worry
I sent it back for the third time and took an 870 replacement. Ammo wasn't the issue, 6 out of 10 misfires with MULTIPLE different kinds of ammo. I sent it back to Remington 2 times for the same issue and ammo was my first assumption. I think mine was just a lemon. thanks for watching. God Bless
The rotating bolt design is what is giving people issues. If the pump has any weight pulling it back the pin wont strike the primer at all. I still think this is a great gun(when used properly)
I had a 870 for years and passed it down to my son when I bought the 877. We trap shoot, and I have well over 5000 rounds through my gun with no issues. It jammed once due to a defective shell casing. I love the gun.
I've had my 887 for almost a year now and I've easily put it through a good 1500 rounds over the last two duck seasons and I was shooting it to get it ready for this season and its doing the same thing yours is. I wouldn't say its a piece of junk but I have had problems
@wemakevidsMandD i had problems too, if you not forward well, be an space and it will not shoot. I solutionate forwarding strong and well, but the 887 its not reliable.
This video is hilarious. I had a problem with my 870. Trigger sear wasn't catching and hammer wasn't dropping. In my case though, remington was cool enough to send me a replacement trigger group (though it was used and not brand new). Gun now works perfectly. Don't get bogged down by the remington fanboys, no company is perfect. That being said, I personally own 3 remington guns hahaha.
I'll say this from one sportsman to sportsman.... if using the old paper super X shells try different shells not guns. (camera settings are off or you waxed your shells) the primers SUCK on the shiny ones. If Remington puts its name on it it will work. My 870 has had over 1500 1oz+ slugs put through it shot shells well you get the point.
ive put easily over 500 rounds through mine, with a mixture of remington, winchester, federal, and my reloads not a single problem bro if its happened twice to u there is something your doing or u have fucking awful luck
I have a benelli nova and also the 887. I choose the 887 b4 the nova every time. Every gun will potentially miss fire ( both of mine havent yet ) if the bolt isn't cleaned residue will build up on the firing pin and other components causing the "miss fire".
The 887 will never replace the 870. The 870 has earned its reliable track record and I dont see the 887 ever even coming close. If you want a shotgun that will never let you down buy an 870, not an 887.

you fucking asshole this gun gun is not a piece of junk i have one and would choose it over any overpriced benelli or beretta any day it is the best gun i have ever owned you dickface.
I had this problem last weekend for the first time in 3 years of owning the gun. I was using a very cheap brand of shells my buddy had because i ran out of shells in the blind. i believe it was only the shells because i have not had the same problem since
just got an 887 today love it already got a bird. Also today i was carrying the gun through deep muck and thick willows without a sling. its very lightweight and personally i think the forearm on the 887 feels better than the one on the nova. i think benellis are just over rated.
I don't know what is wrong with yours but I have the tactical one and I have yet to run into any of the problems that everyone else seems to be having and I've put well over a 1000 shells through it and all kinds of different loads so im thinking I got lucky
