View my channel for a STEP BY STEP guide on how you can FIX YOUR PS3 in less than an hour! WITHOUT the need for Heat Guns, Voiding your Warranty, or wasting any of your TIME or MONEY!
my YLOD fix is 5 month old now running cooler new after cleaning the heat sync and new thermal compound remember to clean heat sync out dust works as an insulator
Loved the video and the comment part at the end lol...Specialy sinse GILKSY helped me, 1st timer noob here, look like a hero in front of my girlfriend :D
I have found the following very interesting: "Heat-conductive paste not dry" What is the significance of that statement? What does that mean? Heat sink not tight enough?
@gr0bd4 It must dry completely in order to prevent the YLOD from happening again. After hours and hours of use it hardens and after many many many hours it begins to melt again. So its not good to let your system heat up then power down and heat up again.
visit my website were i could fix the Yellow light of death for much less than Sony i charge around 35 dollars. please contact me at Dliss96@yahoo.com FixYLODforless.webs.com
@morjej4488 As long as it starts afterwards and still runs it's okay.
This used to happen from time to time with my old 40GB FAT, but also with my new 120GB SLIM.
So, don't worry, as long as the PS3 runs after an automatic restart, this does not mean that you have to be afraid of a YLOD within the next days or weeks.
@morjej4488 actually this happend to me various time bro and shortly after i got the ylod but im not saying you will get it that was just my experience i should have taken that into consideration
@backyardplaytime1 buy some rosin flux non clean and watch gilsky1's video on how to apply it .....and get some artic silver 5 thermal paste.. every thing u need can be bought on ebay
Damn, just disassembling this shit takes forever!! it's my first try and it took me something about 30 F****** minutes!!! Curse you Sony! you just do shit now!
i dont get why it wont last even with a bad design and soneys crap heat paste it lasted a couple of years shouldn't it last a couple of years again like it did at first
Well, I bought the Slim the day or two after the YLOD happened und didn't use my old PS3 very often since then. Estimately I used it for about 10 hours in total.
I will try to transfer some of my protected save games (which should be possible since fw 3.15), I only used the old PS3 to continue Soeldner X and Killzone 2 with my old save games.
@nimasag1: Same here. I'm trying to figure out how much I'm suppose use. I am using artic silver 5. It's my 3rd time doing this and its annoying. Please help.
Just put enough to cover the whole thing and make sure it's not thick. I put my ps3 together and now it doesn't turn on. Idk y either. It's so stupid. Now I have to go through the ps3 and check the power supply and everything. My dad said that if I get all A's this semester he will buy me a ps3 slim with any game I want. Can't wait. And good luck fixing ur ps3
You should just clear the two boards and replace the thermal paste/adheasive

@S1CKclan No, it isn't. Alltogether it ran for about 15 to 20 hours before it ylod'ed again. :(

@JanderPS3 You didnt do it properly, you cant use just the heat gun to fix it, you need to do a full reflow of the GPU and CPU.

After 4 month my old PS3 yloded again. Since my first repair I used it relatively seldom, because I've bought a Slim right after the YLOD.
I used it like 20 hours or so, before it broke again.
JanderPS3 2 years ago
How long has it been working after you did all this? I've fixed mine like 3 times and it only works for like 2 weeks then it breaks again
