"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Fellow Christians, a word of advice: Those who don't believe in God aren't likely to change their minds after reading comments on You Tube. Especially if they're from Christians who are abruprt, condescending and/or trying to push others beleive in God when they've clearly already made up their mind. So rather than argue about whose right, whose wrong ,or if He does or doesn't exist, let's just respect what each other believes. We are called to love others...not to judge or condemn them.
Talk is cheap. Messages like the one in this movie are priceless. Remember, it takes strong language to support weak ideas. Freedom of speech is essential to our free society. Pray for those who curse you. They have been blinded by the prince of the age.
God, like Santa, is a childlike concept. A small lie to inspire, motivate, and to promote a greater universal truth. Do with it what you will. It's up to each of us whether we use such a vice as a tool to unite with others or as a weapon to conquer others.
@sweetheart92115 Good to know that there are other Christians defending their faith in god. And you're all right. To be a Christian doesn't mean that your life is simple at once. But God helps you all the time to carry the burden of your life. And all this because he loves us, all of us. Not only those who belives in him. He loves everyone! Only his grace do us save.
Good to know that there are other Zeusians defending their faith in Zeus. And you're all right. To be a Zeusian doesn't mean that your life is simple at once. But Zeus helps you all the time to carry the burden of your life. And all this because he loves us, all of us. Not only those who believe in him. He loves everyone! Only his grace do us save.
@sweetheart92115 U kno .....ON a completely unrelated topic ...its really funny how most people, including me , think that all these comments are from boys aged 13-22 .....Is it just me , or all who comment are really teenagers ?
@papermashedy619 I don't think that I did. To me, religion is about conformity and standarization and I'm not a fan of that at ALL. "Following Christ and living a life that brings Him honor and glory" is what Christianity is SUPPOSED to be about. It's supposed to be about love and compassion and grace and mercy.
@sweetheart92115 Are you for real dude? Then how the hell arent you a fan of religion......Plus there is no god my man............Just do good in life if you can cos at the end there are no penalty's after life.........
@MrSaberq I thought I explained in my post above why I'm not a fan of religion, but I'll say it again. I'm not a fan of it because it has been misrepresented by people who claim to follow God. As a result religion has become associated with conformity & condemnation and that really upsets me. Christianity is supposed to be about loving others, not condeming them. I totally respect that fact that you don't believe in God, but you should respect that there are those who do. Btw, I'm a woman.
@sweetheart92115 alright i dissagree that there is no god. but sweetheart, again all ur doing is describing religion.. maybe not christanity but u are describing, budism, and islamic traditions. love and compassion goes through every religion, and whether u want to believe it or not, u are describing religion.. and not just one form, but multiple. ur only thining christanity is bad cuz of what some people do, the moral still is the same as what ur describing.
@papermashedy619 Well, you and I have a different definition of religion then, so let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. Random off topic question...does the 619 in your user name stand for the area code in San Diego?
@sweetheart92115 I agree with you completely girl.........If you act like that than yes religion can have it's uses but all those rules about a God and what not those rules are fake and built for sole purpose of controlling people.....
If you have faith in Jesus, you have faith in religion because that's where the whole concept of Jesus came from.
You've already thrown all the religious BS to the wayside so why not finish the job and throw the Jesus stories where they belong, in a desk drawer with other stories about Zeus and Ra and Mitra and Kali and a million other deities who never were and never will be.
@LibertyAtYourService Are you saying that I can't have faith in somthing unless its a recognised religion or its Jesus himself?
I like stories but the only one I wish was true is Harry Potter because I would be one bad ass wizard who would make hot women polish my poles all day long (I am a pole collector).
Anyway, I'm off to meet my 572 Virgins. Later all you infidels.
Of course GOD chooses sides. For instance, it is written that HE loved Jacob more than Esau. HE also creates some men with more talent and ability than others. Read the parables if Christ. If the other team has a coach that believes only in himself and hard work, GOD may choose to have the believers beat them. Or, HE may make the believers lose so that they keep striving to be closer to HIM.
They didn't get there from God they got there from personal, hard work. They didn't win because of God.
Why doesn't anybody consider the other team? Do you think God chose one team over the other? Do you think the other team didn't deserve to win? Do you not think they worked just as hard to get where they were?
God doesn't choose sides folks. Now I'm not saying a God exists or not. That.. none of us have the answer to. But please be considerate of the whole picture not just one point of view.
i dont believe that all things are possible.... i lost my job and everything is shattered into pieces...if he is god why did he do this to me...im a baptist and a bible believer ill be the one who played piano in our church..but why can this be happened to me? :(
@dotakingist I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my job too last year and have been dealing with numerous medical issues. However, God doesn't 'do" these things to us. Yes, He allows hardships to happen in our lives, but what He wants is for us to trust His reasons for doing so. And I know that's very hard to do. There have been many times that I've been angry with God and have questioned what He's doing in my life, but regardless of my frustrations I still believe that He knows better than me.
@dotakingist You're welcome. Just know that it's okay to be mad at God and even yell at Him. He can handle it. Just don't let your anger separate yourself from Him.
@sweetheart92115 I think you hit the nail on the head. We live in a fallen world. God doesn't create the hardships in life, but can use these situations for his glory or to strengthen our relationship with him. Dotakingist I think the story of Job will give you comfort. God allowed Job to go through a temendous amount of pain, but in the end Job was very blessed. Job questioned (not blamed) God throughout his trials and ultimately God explained to Job that he knows best. See Job 38:4-7
@sweetheart92115 I don't believe in god at all. Sorry to say to all the religious people my life is incredible. I have the most loving family I've ever met. I'm a male fitness model and my career is going well an my best friend won $70,000 in the lottery three months ago. I know some fool is going to message me and spout faith faith faith, I find faith is the same thing as blindess. If you were born in any other part of the world you wouldn't in this religion. I am thankful to have the truth.
@dotakingist Hi there dear brother (or sister... I don't know) in faith. My english is far from good cause I'm from Portugal but I'll try my best. I wanna encorage you to read Psalm 103, specially from verse 3 to 5 where it says all the things that God does in our lives (individually). I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your job, but instead of foccusing on that lost, try to see how good God has been to you... Have you ever skiped a meal because you didn't have anything to eat? Or somehow ...
@dotakingist ... you still have food on your table? I havent lost a job (cause I'm still a student - last year in college) but i lost my mother in the beggining of this year... better said: I won my mother to Christ. I spent 7 years praying for her salvation and despite of a terrible disease (cancer) God preserved her life till she accepted Him. It wasn't 7 days... it was 7 years!! God is glorious... He waited for her. Wait for Him to change your life too! cause it is possible...
--God is God... Just trust him. in all you do ask strength from him.
Don't question God because i know that u know that God has his Own purpose why it is happening to you and if you really believe in God just TRUST him!
Just because maybe you don't have enough faith, when everything is falling down in our lives, it's when God tests us to know if we'll have faith to believe that he is the one who can fix everything and every situations which make us desperate.
@rationalperspective Or a muslim in that team :-) In the middle of his speech I'd be like "ah excuse me coach, when you say God do you mean Allah the Almighty - just checking coach"
Great speech! i love the message! and for all those doubters, Steve Young, lead the 49ers to more than one super bowl victory, and was admitted to the hall of fame. Hey went to church every chance and was a man of great faith, the fact that this man had god in his life and did so well in football is not a coincidence
everything happens for a reason and he makes all things work together for our good. My school spends 15 minutes praying before every game (not a private school) and has a devotional at a nearby church right after school on gameday. We made it into 2nd round of last years playoffs 11-2 overall with 6 shutouts without near as much size as most schools
football is a sport that teaches brotherhood and discipline. god gives us strength to play this game. putting faith in yourself, your team, and god is all a part of the game
I watched this with my friends not knowing this was a christian propaganda movie at first and really think this is the best bad movie I have seen in a long time.
.. I honestly didn't think there were any fans of this movie until now.
it's about both. being a team and putting your faith in god. it's about putting in all your effort. giving your best, and trusting in god for everything else.
To all negativity toward this comment, it seems you don't have God in your heart and you need to let him in. He loves you and died just for you, remember that. It may come in handy
Why can God determine the outcome of a stupid football game, but no matter how hard someone prays they can never regrow a damaged nerve cell that has left them paralyzed? It seems like he needs to reevaluate his priorities.
@ryan84160 this is just a movie, I haven't even seen it. I can't pretend to know why God chooses to do things. I had leukemia, and God healed me. God does intervene and he doesn't have to prioritize because He is God. Just because He does one thing, doesn't mean He doesn't have the time or ability to do something else at the same time.
@candcbennett So God gave you leukemia, demanded that you pray to him and then he fixed the problem for you? Does that not seem like a bit like extortion? Why does he not heal everyone with cancer instead of a select few?
Why does he heal approximately 0 percent of people with spinal cord injuries ? Why can he not regrow lost limbs ?
@ryan84160 In a prefect world, what you are saying might make sense. This is not a perfect world, when sin entered in, so did death, etc. God loves us and has a plan for us. You sound like you have a lot of bitterness toward God, only when you let go of that will you be open to understanding. If you don't believe me, try it.
@cannonxgoat If you're referring to the movie then I think you misunderstood the meaning of it because the whole movie is about God and the faith we put in Him.
@sweetheart92115 >>yeah am agree with you heart. i don't really understand why people do not how to interpret the passage of God. Maybe these kind of people do not know how to read bible.
@cannonxgoat sorry ita also about God...yea?then how did they do it without God?it even says never give up never lose faith never back out with God all things are possible and its true :)
Pull your head out of your rear end, chronation! Alex Kendrick didn't even come close to saying the "f" word. He asked: "Who will go FIGHT the giants with me?" Maybe you need to get a hearing add you smart elek!!
I loved this movie! it had heart and was powerful and raw in the emotions each charater felt, also it just shows what can happen when you let God have control...a winning season in football is just the beginning!
I loved the movie and I love god. Football really is a tool to honor god and have faith. Its also a tool to build confidence in life. They say that football builds caracter, I 50% agree. For some people, it builds caracter, however for other people, football reveals caracter.
@boxer6305 you really think that if god was real he would give a shit about an american football game? There are children starving in africa, people dieing of aids and hundreds of other terrible illnesses, devestating natural disasters like hurricanes and countless other examples of unfairness and poor treatment around the world yet you genuinly believe "god" would grace you and your football game? Wow, just fucking WOW.
I'd like to point out that you ALWAYS choose for yourself, even if you submit yourself to the will of god you still do that by choice, so unless you are forced to (which god doesn't do, only some of his followers do, that's propably one reason many people dislike religion and I admit sometimes the church goes too far in "encouraging" people to believe) do something you always "choose for yourself" so that's not in any way contradictory to the believe in god. Just wanted to share that thought :)
In fact God let us choose ,but when you choose for yourself ,youre making choose for those around you,and you can take them to the top or bounce ém to the utter darkness...so important to choose lioght my dear friends
I have no problem with people believing in god, by all means do so. But could you please, please stop trying to convince us that we have to do so as well and that if we don't don't we're sinners. Rsally get's on ym nervs!
I don't know if this was a generalization towards Christians or if it was geared towards me. But I want to clarify that it's not my intent to tell anyone that he/she HAS to believe. Also, it's not my place call someone a sinner, which is why I don't do it. If you've ever been "harassed" by someone who claims to be a Christian I sincerely apologize. To me, the Christian faith is about love & trying to "force" someone to believe in something they're not ready to, or don't want to, isn't loving.
it was not geared towards you, sorry of there was a misunderstanding there. I respect your faith in every way. It is just not mine. Your reply shows me that you are an edcucated man/woman, and I respect your belief and apologize if I have "attacked" you in any way.
I'm a woman =) and I didn't feel attacked by your post. I took it as more of a plea, which I completely support. You have every right to believe what you want, as does everyone else. So it DOES bother me when my fellow brothers & sisters in Christ show judgement or condemnation to those who don't share our faith. And I TOTALLY understand why so many ppl are turned off by God & Christianity. That's why I'm so gung ho about showing others the love & compassion God wants His followers to display...
...Thank you for the clarification though. I respect the sincerity you used in your response. I wish all conversations between people, who share different faiths, would go this smoothly, but I know that's unrealisitc. All we can do is continue displaying respect towards one another in hopes that the "trend" will catch on =)
Everyone born is a sinner in need of forgiveness. I have stood in the presence of our Creator and believe me only He is good. I thought I was a good person until I stood before Him. I ask you this "don't compare yourself to man like I did because if you do you will stay the wretched one that you and I are. There is a better love and goodness and that is God. Can a murderer rapist psycho come live with your family? well think about it can we come live with God in the state we are in?Find Him
@MultiTrollHunter No we don't have starbucks in Australia. You are born body and soul this is called soulish or fleshly appetites. But Jesus came to give us the Spirit and when you get that boy the adventure or should I say the battle begins. Firstly you have an appetite for the things of God for the first time in your life, you become so sensitive to your soulish or sinful nature that the war on that alone is fun. God loves us so much. Learn about the gifts and the fruits of the spirit.
@listening2all Nice, you attack one insignificant point of his and then clobber the rest of your answer with bullshit. I'm not even attacking any point you might have been making, the sentences literally don't make any sense. But they seem like completely empty preaching, which.. just really just doesn't work with us skeptics. sorry. Might as well bring out a bible reference.
@DisembowelMe Correct!!! the sentences literally don't make any sense to those only born of body and soul. I bet you love heavy metal, violence and rage? Right?
because I see this as the new body and soul appetite of the 21st Century. Hopefully you will come to know Jesus and then you will literally understand what I was stating. Satan has blinded the minds of the unbeliever.
@listening2all Hahah, what? First of all, your sentences literally don't make sense, perhaps punctuation would rectify this. Secondly, yes, I do love heavy metal, but how you came to the conclusion that I love violence and rage I don't know. Seems like you too have been blinded by something that one might file under "satan's work".. prejudice.
Don't think didn't spend time trying to reach god either, a few times even crying out to him to reveal himself. He hasn't ever, which is okay really.
@DisembowelMe You like heavy metal check out Thirty3Victims - husbands nephew's band. God cannot respond to you without first you believing His son Jesus came in His name to deliver us from the evil one. You have to repent, which means you desire to change your life from the way it is now to the way of God. Then water baptism which is representing the grave, the old you dies under the water and when you come up you are "born again". Then asking to receive the free gift of the Spirit. New you:)
@listening2all I DID believe, I DID pray, I DID search and never found anything. You must also understand that skeptics like me need actual empirical proof to follow something as vaguely defined as "god". More than preaching, philosophical theology and bible quotations.
Don't think I'm bitter or something either, I think not believing in an afterlife does me good, since what gets me out of bed is the fact that there is no second chance. Different fuel works for different cars, I guess. :)
@DisembowelMe I always believed in God, for me, creation, which is so amazing, confirmed it, but I NEVER believed anyone could have an encounter with God, that all changed when it happened to me almost 20 yrs ago for 6 days. He was more than I could ever have imagined, there is no one to compare with Him, He really is so loving, humble and gentle. I wept, I said sorry and thanked Him. He asked me to tell people He loves them & to come out of ignorance & into the knowledge of Him. He is there
Trumanz, God isn't a wheelchair for some of us. He is real in my life and my family's. I know from where I was at, unsaved and away from the Father, now saved. My life has changed 110% by my faith in God. I battled severe depression for over 10yrs without God, when I was saved my depression is gone I have hope again and can actually enjoy things in my life. UNTIL I FOUND GOD I had no happiness or joy in me. No my friend GOD IS ABSOLUTELY ALIVE IN ME. He created everything I will never leave him.
God is a very loving Father. All he wants is for us to love and honor him. He has given me so much since accepting him. Peace, Love, Compassion. When I was in depression I hated myself and everyone else, but God opened my eyes. I tried for 10yrs for me to cure my depression. Didn't work, but with God, I have so much enjoyment in my life. Yes there is still struggles, but I know he is with me and imagine how worse it could be WITHOUT him in. Everyone who knows me can see God is in me by my change
Due to recent discussions about this clip I'm laying down some guidelines. I'm all for having civil conversations, but if I see any name calling or rude statements made, I will block you from further posting on this clip. Whether you believe in God or not, if I see any negativity here, I will not hesitate to take action.
Your guidelines are based on your beliefs and your beliefs alone, I dont have to agree with that. II think it's totally ok to swear, be rude, and calling people names. It's part the natural way of how people communicate with each other in real life, around the world. How can arguing not generating negativity? When you parents are arguing, you think they're complimenting each other? Get real.
No, my guidelines are NOT based on my beliefs. I said I'd block ANYONE who is rude, critical or judgemental REGARDLESS of whether or not they believe in God. In the past I've warned my fellow believers who were judgemental to those who don't share our Christian beliefs & removed their comments. Also, there's a difference between aruging & having a civil discussion where view points can be stated without criticism. I have no problem with civil discussions, but not tolerance for negativity.
lol I dont judge people for having Christian or Buddishm or whatever beliefs, I judge people for having stupid beliefs. When you claim something and you can't back it up with facts, real life example, or at least logic, and the only argument is because God said so, then it's just plain dumb.
Again, Christianity is not meant to be backed up by facts or logic, it's about faith. You disagree with that perspective & that's fine. However, judging people for their beliefs is wrong. If someone got up in your face & called you an idiot for not believing in God, I think you'd be rather offended. Therefore, I'm offended when people tell me, or my fellow Christians, that what we believe is stupid. Again, everyone is entitled to his or her own beliefs and shouldn't be criticized for them.
Alrite, let me put things this way for you. Faith has to be evaluated. Blind faith is stupidity unquestioned. The guys who crashed the plane into the NY building, well he BELIEVES in God, and from his perspective it was a good move. Is not what you believe that makes you stupid, is HOW.
I DO agree with that. People can & DO take Christianity out of context & use it for their own personal gain. It's during those times that God & Christians are given a bad name. But God shouldn't be judged for the inappropriate actions made by someone who claims to believe in Him. Neither should all Christians be lumped together as being judgemental, hypocrites, bible thumpers, etc. just because one or more Christians has. People will always make bad decisions regardless of what they believe.
Look, this argument is not maintaining its original focus. Original focus was, I believe, on morality. Okay? Now it's "God does exist, no he doesn't, Belief A is stupid, Belief B is correct". We base our morality on God, you base yours on personal preference.
Saying you don't judge people for being Christian, but for being "stupid" is absolute bull. Obviously you think Christianity is stupid, so yes. If they're Christian you think they're stupid. Whether it's in the Christian name or not.
Did i say anything about believing in morality is wrong? did i call u stupid because of it? NO i havent. Again, dont put words in my mouth, else we can both play this game. My WHOLE argument was, stop and think for yourself for a second. Choose your own path, and know why you believe in what you do. Being Christian is not being stupid, being Christian because someone told you God said so IS stupid.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm NOT a Christian because God or someone else told me I should be. I'm a Christian because God has shown me that there's more to life than the everyday. I'm a Christian because there have been numerous occassions where I should have died, but I'm still living. I'm a Christian because I've witnessed genuine love in circumstances where hate should have resulted...
So basically you believe in God because he's been good to you, how about people who shouldn't die but they did, people who is hated when all they do is love ... does God have something to do with that too? He must be, in that case God is selective and unfair doesnt he?
I don't believe in God just because "He's been good to me." He's actually allowed a lot of suffering in my life. I was recently very angry with Him because something completely mortifying happened to me towards the end of last year. I was angry, bitter and felt abandoned by Him. Like many who don't believe in God, I kept wondering how He could allow something so humiliating to happen to someone He loves...
...but I was then reminded of how God allowed Jesus, His one and only son, to be mocked, shamed, treated cruelly, and then die a brutal death on the cross, despite how much He loved Him. There was a greater purpose in the shame and suffering God was allowing Jesus to endure. It was during that reminder that I remembered that God has a bigger purpose in all the crap that has occured in my life...
...and though I may not always understand it, though I may be angry with Him for allowing it to happen, I truly believe that God knows what's best for me. As someone already said, I consider God to be my ultimate parent. A Father who won't always give me what I want because He knows it's not good for me. A father who will make decisions I don't understand because He sees the bigger picture. I just have to trust that He knows what's best...
Now, I know you don't believe in God or Jesus dying on the cross. But for me to explain why I believe that there's a bigger purpose behind all the suffering in my life (really in everyone's life), I had to use it as an example. I don't expect you to agree with me because you're very set in your beliefs, as I am in mine. But again, it's not my intent to change your opinions. My intent is to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
(part 1 of response) I'm not set in my beliefs, just dont feed me with things that doesnt make sense. When a man is talking in the name of God, is is still a man talking. The way I look at it, God is a wheelchair for some of you. A symbol you can clinch on, to give you courage to go through the hard time. God gives you a purpose, a reason, sometimes an excuse for your success and/or failure. Is it stupid? No. Is it necessary? In my case the answer is also no.
(part 2 of response) I'm open to the idea that there may be a God, but I've seen too much bullshit to believe in religion. There's a saying that "God invented man, and to thank him, man invented God". Because man need a reason for his existence, because he needs a purpose in life, because sometimes it's just too hard for you to fight things on your own, man has tried to interpret God, but man is not God nor he can pretend he can interpret him. I dont think the human mind is capable of that.
(part 3 of response) Finally, God (to go with your argument that he exists) has given man free will. And with that free will, comes the responsibility of our actions. If Man are truly free then we are responsible of the good and the bad in this world, and we don't need God. If man is not free, since God is behind everything then every good or bad in this world is God fault. If God bless a team to win and make them happy, then he's responsible of making the other team lose and unhappy. That's it.
To be honest with you, I'm surprised that you said that you're open to the idea there may be a God because you seem very dedicated to the fact that you don't believe in Him. Now, you said that you've seen too much BS to believe in religion. For clarification purposes, what is your definition of religion? I want to know that first because I can give you a more detailed response when I have that information.
@sweetheart92115 I don't know if God exist or not, it is logic to think that everything cant be created out of nothing, so yeah maybe there's a creator behind all this. BUT I do think that people who speak in God behalf need an dose of GET REAL injection. Religion is any form of (mis)interpretation of God existence. It's every bible, quran, buddist of this world. Religion is man way to honor God, it doesnt mean that God wants man to honor him THAT way.
@Trumanz I DO agree with you in that I believe Religion is man's way of honoring God. It's how an individual carries out what he/she believes is the way to practice his/her faith: whether it's taking communion, going to confession, lighting candles, etc. However, Religion can be taken out of context, i.e., The Holocaust. But God shouldn't be blamed for the unwise actions of those who claim to follow Him. As you said, He gave us free will & people who use it sometimes make dumb choices.
@sweetheart92115 I never blame God. What you do to honor God is one thing, and I can respect that. But what you are telling OTHERS to do to honor your God is another thing. Worst, some go as far as to forbid others to do things they claim God has said. You see it's not God I have a problem with, it's his dumb fan club
It is your choice, all your call because God loves you so much he allows you to choose. Believe in Him and live. Choose not to and be separated from Him and die. Totally your call man. Think it through. Listen to your heart. Look at the ocean, the galaxies, the heavens and the earth and decide if it all magically happened or was designed by our creator. It is your call and all on you. The BS is all man's doing. Jump into it or choose a different direction. Your call. Cool
@DoloLLC you bet it is my choice. Exactly my point, if you think God loves man so much that he let him choose THEN let us choose. Let us choose NOT to believe in him. We have the capacity to think for ourself, that's a gift animals dont have, we dont need morality to be bestowed upon us by a man who speak in God behalf. God gave man the capacity to walk on his own. It would be a shame not to use that gift.
(part 2 of response) You may say it's coincidence, you may say the result came from naturual causes, but I chose to believe that God is the reason for the aforementioned things. You don't agree with that & that's fine. But please don't don't say it's stupid for me, or anyone else, to believe that. It's my/our choice. You're entitled to what you believe & no one should judge/criticize you for that. If I see it happening to you I'll say something. But I'll say something when you do it too.
wuts funny is the other team is thanking god for their success and praying for victory as well soo WTF does god choose sides or does he/she/Morgan Freeman even give a shit get real
God doesn't take sides; we give Him the glory for success because God helps us all equally if we shoulder our part of the burden. God doesn't do things FOR anybody, but He gives us what we need and then lets us make of it what we will. In short, the one who fights harder wins.
In other words we don't need God. If God intend for men to make his own choices, and deal with the consequences of his own action, as a free being, then we don't need God approval of our actions. Let him exist, and do our own thing.
God gives us moral guidelines, the ways we should behave so that humankind doesn't fall into hate and chaos. Do we have to follow them? Technically, no. But there will be temporal and eternal punishment. Also, don't you think we would owe God something after He created us?
Morality is a man notion. Man defines what's good and what's bad for them. Man goes as far as to claim what he thinks God would define as good or bad for them. Humankind HAD fallen into hate and chaos in the name of God. I dont know how old you are but your view of the world seem rather naive.
Naive? No. I'm talking about how I think things should be, regardless of what they are.
Morality may appear to be a man notion, but it's an ingrained instinct. It goes against our deeper nature to kill or steal or lie, whether we consciously approve of it or not. You're never very comfortable with any of those things, no matter how much you think you are. I think this is an instinct ingrained into us by God.
Now you're starting to not making sense at all. How things SHOULD be are defined by one own moral standard, and I hope you do realize there's no universal morality. What you think is right can be view as wrong by someone else. Morality has changed over time, between different cultures, even people within the same society can have a very different opinion about how things SHOULD be. The only ingrained instinct we have is to survive, beside that it's just your assumption about the human nature.
Agree. Its not necessarily morality, but rather perspective. perspective as a process of social interaction defines what society deems "moral" or "immoral". Althogh TerminalVelocity offers an interesting point from his perspective, he relies heavily upon his dogmatic beliefs - a major downfall. In a sense, Terminal is not wrong, nor is he right, but he rather lacks the experience of life (and perspective) to truly understand what you, Trumanz, are arguing. Its like comparing apples and oranges
What Trumanz is arguing has nothing to do with life experience. As you said, it's perspective. TerminalVelocity's views are based on his Christian beliefs & not everyone will agree with them. That's fine, but they shouldn't be called "a major downfall." Everyone is entitled to what he/she believes when it comes to the existence of a higher power, but no one should be judged/called names for doing so. We just need to agree to disagree because trying to change another's beliefs causes aggravation.
What i'm arguing has EVERYTHING to do with life experience. It's about not following blindly but learn to judge, analyse and think for yourself once you're old enough. How about having views based on YOUR beliefs for a change? Instead of Christian beliefs, or Jewish beliefs or Voodoo beliefs? I know Christian who molested kids in my community. Would he still be right, or it's just a matter of perspective again?
why does everything on youtube that invovles reglilon, have to have a fucking debate, its a movie!! its your comment, you don't need a debate on what is real and who is right

MrSaberq 11 months ago
@MrSaberq I thought I explained in my post above why I'm not a fan of religion, but I'll say it again. I'm not a fan of it because it has been misrepresented by people who claim to follow God. As a result religion has become associated with conformity & condemnation and that really upsets me. Christianity is supposed to be about loving others, not condeming them. I totally respect that fact that you don't believe in God, but you should respect that there are those who do. Btw, I'm a woman.
sweetheart92115 11 months ago
@sweetheart92115 alright i dissagree that there is no god. but sweetheart, again all ur doing is describing religion.. maybe not christanity but u are describing, budism, and islamic traditions. love and compassion goes through every religion, and whether u want to believe it or not, u are describing religion.. and not just one form, but multiple. ur only thining christanity is bad cuz of what some people do, the moral still is the same as what ur describing.

Rodnus 1 year ago
They didn't get there from God they got there from personal, hard work. They didn't win because of God.
Why doesn't anybody consider the other team? Do you think God chose one team over the other? Do you think the other team didn't deserve to win? Do you not think they worked just as hard to get where they were?
God doesn't choose sides folks. Now I'm not saying a God exists or not. That.. none of us have the answer to. But please be considerate of the whole picture not just one point of view.

dotakingist 1 year ago
@dotakingist I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my job too last year and have been dealing with numerous medical issues. However, God doesn't 'do" these things to us. Yes, He allows hardships to happen in our lives, but what He wants is for us to trust His reasons for doing so. And I know that's very hard to do. There have been many times that I've been angry with God and have questioned what He's doing in my life, but regardless of my frustrations I still believe that He knows better than me.

@ryan84160 this is just a movie, I haven't even seen it. I can't pretend to know why God chooses to do things. I had leukemia, and God healed me. God does intervene and he doesn't have to prioritize because He is God. Just because He does one thing, doesn't mean He doesn't have the time or ability to do something else at the same time.
candcbennett 1 year ago
@candcbennett So God gave you leukemia, demanded that you pray to him and then he fixed the problem for you? Does that not seem like a bit like extortion? Why does he not heal everyone with cancer instead of a select few?
Why does he heal approximately 0 percent of people with spinal cord injuries ? Why can he not regrow lost limbs ?
ryan84160 1 year ago
@ryan84160 In a prefect world, what you are saying might make sense. This is not a perfect world, when sin entered in, so did death, etc. God loves us and has a plan for us. You sound like you have a lot of bitterness toward God, only when you let go of that will you be open to understanding. If you don't believe me, try it.
candcbennett 1 year ago
@candcbennett So every generation must pay for the sins of one man? That does not seem very just to me.
You did not answer my question. Why does he heal some and not others ? Shouldn't you thank science and western medicine instead of God?

I'd like to point out that you ALWAYS choose for yourself, even if you submit yourself to the will of god you still do that by choice, so unless you are forced to (which god doesn't do, only some of his followers do, that's propably one reason many people dislike religion and I admit sometimes the church goes too far in "encouraging" people to believe) do something you always "choose for yourself" so that's not in any way contradictory to the believe in god. Just wanted to share that thought :)

To me, the Christian faith is about love & trying to "force" someone to believe in something they're not ready to, or don't want to, isn't loving.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
it was not geared towards you, sorry of there was a misunderstanding there.

MultiTrollHunter 1 year ago

DisembowelMe 1 year ago
@DisembowelMe Correct!!! the sentences literally don't make any sense to those only born of body and soul. I bet you love heavy metal, violence and rage? Right?
because I see this as the new body and soul appetite of the 21st Century. Hopefully you will come to know Jesus and then you will literally understand what I was stating. Satan has blinded the minds of the unbeliever.
listening2all 1 year ago
@listening2all Hahah, what? First of all, your sentences literally don't make sense, perhaps punctuation would rectify this. Secondly, yes, I do love heavy metal, but how you came to the conclusion that I love violence and rage I don't know. Seems like you too have been blinded by something that one might file under "satan's work".. prejudice.
Don't think didn't spend time trying to reach god either, a few times even crying out to him to reveal himself. He hasn't ever, which is okay really.
DisembowelMe 1 year ago
@DisembowelMe You like heavy metal check out Thirty3Victims - husbands nephew's band. God cannot respond to you without first you believing His son Jesus came in His name to deliver us from the evil one. You have to repent, which means you desire to change your life from the way it is now to the way of God. Then water baptism which is representing the grave, the old you dies under the water and when you come up you are "born again". Then asking to receive the free gift of the Spirit. New you:)
listening2all 1 year ago
@listening2all I DID believe, I DID pray, I DID search and never found anything. You must also understand that skeptics like me need actual empirical proof to follow something as vaguely defined as "god". More than preaching, philosophical theology and bible quotations.
Don't think I'm bitter or something either, I think not believing in an afterlife does me good, since what gets me out of bed is the fact that there is no second chance. Different fuel works for different cars, I guess. :)

He created everything I will never leave him.
fourwheelhunter42 2 years ago 2

Whether you believe in God or not, if I see any negativity here, I will not hesitate to take action.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
Your guidelines are based on your beliefs and your beliefs alone, I dont have to agree with that. II think it's totally ok to swear, be rude, and calling people names. It's part the natural way of how people communicate with each other in real life, around the world. How can arguing not generating negativity? When you parents are arguing, you think they're complimenting each other? Get real.
Trumanz 2 years ago
No, my guidelines are NOT based on my beliefs. I said I'd block ANYONE who is rude, critical or judgemental REGARDLESS of whether or not they believe in God. In the past I've warned my fellow believers who were judgemental to those who don't share our Christian beliefs & removed their comments. Also, there's a difference between aruging & having a civil discussion where view points can be stated without criticism. I have no problem with civil discussions, but not tolerance for negativity.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
lol I dont judge people for having Christian or Buddishm or whatever beliefs, I judge people for having stupid beliefs. When you claim something and you can't back it up with facts, real life example, or at least logic, and the only argument is because God said so, then it's just plain dumb.
Trumanz 2 years ago
Again, Christianity is not meant to be backed up by facts or logic, it's about faith. You disagree with that perspective & that's fine. However, judging people for their beliefs is wrong. If someone got up in your face & called you an idiot for not believing in God, I think you'd be rather offended. Therefore, I'm offended when people tell me, or my fellow Christians, that what we believe is stupid. Again, everyone is entitled to his or her own beliefs and shouldn't be criticized for them.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
Alrite, let me put things this way for you. Faith has to be evaluated. Blind faith is stupidity unquestioned. The guys who crashed the plane into the NY building, well he BELIEVES in God, and from his perspective it was a good move. Is not what you believe that makes you stupid, is HOW.
Trumanz 2 years ago
I DO agree with that. People can & DO take Christianity out of context & use it for their own personal gain. It's during those times that God & Christians are given a bad name. But God shouldn't be judged for the inappropriate actions made by someone who claims to believe in Him. Neither should all Christians be lumped together as being judgemental, hypocrites, bible thumpers, etc. just because one or more Christians has. People will always make bad decisions regardless of what they believe.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
Look, this argument is not maintaining its original focus. Original focus was, I believe, on morality. Okay? Now it's "God does exist, no he doesn't, Belief A is stupid, Belief B is correct". We base our morality on God, you base yours on personal preference.
Saying you don't judge people for being Christian, but for being "stupid" is absolute bull. Obviously you think Christianity is stupid, so yes. If they're Christian you think they're stupid. Whether it's in the Christian name or not.
TerminalVelocity14 2 years ago
Did i say anything about believing in morality is wrong? did i call u stupid because of it? NO i havent. Again, dont put words in my mouth, else we can both play this game. My WHOLE argument was, stop and think for yourself for a second. Choose your own path, and know why you believe in what you do. Being Christian is not being stupid, being Christian because someone told you God said so IS stupid.
Trumanz 2 years ago
(Part 1 of response)
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm NOT a Christian because God or someone else told me I should be. I'm a Christian because God has shown me that there's more to life than the everyday. I'm a Christian because there have been numerous occassions where I should have died, but I'm still living. I'm a Christian because I've witnessed genuine love in circumstances where hate should have resulted...
(continue to part 2)
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
So basically you believe in God because he's been good to you, how about people who shouldn't die but they did, people who is hated when all they do is love ... does God have something to do with that too? He must be, in that case God is selective and unfair doesnt he?
Trumanz 2 years ago
(part 1 of response)
I don't believe in God just because "He's been good to me." He's actually allowed a lot of suffering in my life. I was recently very angry with Him because something completely mortifying happened to me towards the end of last year. I was angry, bitter and felt abandoned by Him. Like many who don't believe in God, I kept wondering how He could allow something so humiliating to happen to someone He loves...
(continue to part 2)
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
(part 2 of response)
...but I was then reminded of how God allowed Jesus, His one and only son, to be mocked, shamed, treated cruelly, and then die a brutal death on the cross, despite how much He loved Him. There was a greater purpose in the shame and suffering God was allowing Jesus to endure. It was during that reminder that I remembered that God has a bigger purpose in all the crap that has occured in my life...
(continue to part 3)
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
(part 3 of response)
...and though I may not always understand it, though I may be angry with Him for allowing it to happen, I truly believe that God knows what's best for me. As someone already said, I consider God to be my ultimate parent. A Father who won't always give me what I want because He knows it's not good for me. A father who will make decisions I don't understand because He sees the bigger picture. I just have to trust that He knows what's best...
(continue to part 4)
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
(part 4 of response)
Now, I know you don't believe in God or Jesus dying on the cross. But for me to explain why I believe that there's a bigger purpose behind all the suffering in my life (really in everyone's life), I had to use it as an example. I don't expect you to agree with me because you're very set in your beliefs, as I am in mine. But again, it's not my intent to change your opinions. My intent is to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
(part 1 of response) I'm not set in my beliefs, just dont feed me with things that doesnt make sense. When a man is talking in the name of God, is is still a man talking. The way I look at it, God is a wheelchair for some of you. A symbol you can clinch on, to give you courage to go through the hard time. God gives you a purpose, a reason, sometimes an excuse for your success and/or failure. Is it stupid? No. Is it necessary? In my case the answer is also no.
Trumanz 2 years ago
(part 2 of response) I'm open to the idea that there may be a God, but I've seen too much bullshit to believe in religion. There's a saying that "God invented man, and to thank him, man invented God". Because man need a reason for his existence, because he needs a purpose in life, because sometimes it's just too hard for you to fight things on your own, man has tried to interpret God, but man is not God nor he can pretend he can interpret him. I dont think the human mind is capable of that.
Trumanz 2 years ago
(part 3 of response) Finally, God (to go with your argument that he exists) has given man free will. And with that free will, comes the responsibility of our actions. If Man are truly free then we are responsible of the good and the bad in this world, and we don't need God. If man is not free, since God is behind everything then every good or bad in this world is God fault. If God bless a team to win and make them happy, then he's responsible of making the other team lose and unhappy. That's it.
Trumanz 2 years ago
To be honest with you, I'm surprised that you said that you're open to the idea there may be a God because you seem very dedicated to the fact that you don't believe in Him. Now, you said that you've seen too much BS to believe in religion. For clarification purposes, what is your definition of religion? I want to know that first because I can give you a more detailed response when I have that information.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
@sweetheart92115 I don't know if God exist or not, it is logic to think that everything cant be created out of nothing, so yeah maybe there's a creator behind all this. BUT I do think that people who speak in God behalf need an dose of GET REAL injection. Religion is any form of (mis)interpretation of God existence. It's every bible, quran, buddist of this world. Religion is man way to honor God, it doesnt mean that God wants man to honor him THAT way.
Trumanz 2 years ago
@Trumanz I DO agree with you in that I believe Religion is man's way of honoring God. It's how an individual carries out what he/she believes is the way to practice his/her faith: whether it's taking communion, going to confession, lighting candles, etc. However, Religion can be taken out of context, i.e., The Holocaust. But God shouldn't be blamed for the unwise actions of those who claim to follow Him. As you said, He gave us free will & people who use it sometimes make dumb choices.
sweetheart92115 1 year ago
@sweetheart92115 I never blame God. What you do to honor God is one thing, and I can respect that. But what you are telling OTHERS to do to honor your God is another thing. Worst, some go as far as to forbid others to do things they claim God has said. You see it's not God I have a problem with, it's his dumb fan club
Trumanz 1 year ago 2
@Trumanz Were you referring to me personally when you said, "What you are telling OTHERS to do to honor your God is another thing?"
sweetheart92115 1 year ago
@sweetheart92115 nope, that was generally speaking

@Trumanz

Trumanz 1 year ago
It is your choice, all your call because God loves you so much he allows you to choose. Believe in Him and live. Choose not to and be separated from Him and die. Totally your call man. Think it through. Listen to your heart. Look at the ocean, the galaxies, the heavens and the earth and decide if it all magically happened or was designed by our creator. It is your call and all on you. The BS is all man's doing. Jump into it or choose a different direction. Your call. Cool
DoloLLC 2 years ago
@DoloLLC you bet it is my choice. Exactly my point, if you think God loves man so much that he let him choose THEN let us choose. Let us choose NOT to believe in him. We have the capacity to think for ourself, that's a gift animals dont have, we dont need morality to be bestowed upon us by a man who speak in God behalf. God gave man the capacity to walk on his own. It would be a shame not to use that gift.
Trumanz 2 years ago
(part 2 of response) You may say it's coincidence, you may say the result came from naturual causes, but I chose to believe that God is the reason for the aforementioned things. You don't agree with that & that's fine. But please don't don't say it's stupid for me, or anyone else, to believe that. It's my/our choice. You're entitled to what you believe & no one should judge/criticize you for that. If I see it happening to you I'll say something. But I'll say something when you do it too.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
...something tells me that this speech is something similar to what the Cowboys heard right before the game against the Saints yesterday! LOL
itsthatgirl09 2 years ago
Make it simple:
If we (Christians) are right, we gain everything.
If we're wrong, we lose nothing.
If you (non-Christians) are right, you gain nothing.
And if you're wrong, you lose it all.
agwin27 2 years ago
wuts funny is the other team is thanking god for their success and praying for victory as well soo WTF does god choose sides or does he/she/Morgan Freeman even give a shit get real
PhillyPhan17 2 years ago
God doesn't take sides; we give Him the glory for success because God helps us all equally if we shoulder our part of the burden. God doesn't do things FOR anybody, but He gives us what we need and then lets us make of it what we will. In short, the one who fights harder wins.
TerminalVelocity14 2 years ago
In other words we don't need God. If God intend for men to make his own choices, and deal with the consequences of his own action, as a free being, then we don't need God approval of our actions. Let him exist, and do our own thing.
Trumanz 2 years ago
God gives us moral guidelines, the ways we should behave so that humankind doesn't fall into hate and chaos. Do we have to follow them? Technically, no. But there will be temporal and eternal punishment. Also, don't you think we would owe God something after He created us?
TerminalVelocity14 2 years ago
Morality is a man notion. Man defines what's good and what's bad for them. Man goes as far as to claim what he thinks God would define as good or bad for them. Humankind HAD fallen into hate and chaos in the name of God. I dont know how old you are but your view of the world seem rather naive.
Trumanz 2 years ago
Naive?
TerminalVelocity14 2 years ago
Now you're starting to not making sense at all. How things SHOULD be are defined by one own moral standard, and I hope you do realize there's no universal morality. What you think is right can be view as wrong by someone else. Morality has changed over time, between different cultures, even people within the same society can have a very different opinion about how things SHOULD be. The only ingrained instinct we have is to survive, beside that it's just your assumption about the human nature.
Trumanz 2 years ago
Its like comparing apples and oranges
caguirre622 2 years ago
What Trumanz is arguing has nothing to do with life experience. As you said, it's perspective. TerminalVelocity's views are based on his Christian beliefs & not everyone will agree with them. That's fine, but they shouldn't be called "a major downfall." Everyone is entitled to what he/she believes when it comes to the existence of a higher power, but no one should be judged/called names for doing so. We just need to agree to disagree because trying to change another's beliefs causes aggravation.
sweetheart92115 2 years ago
What i'm arguing has EVERYTHING to do with life experience. It's about not following blindly but learn to judge, analyse and think for yourself once you're old enough. How about having views based on YOUR beliefs for a change? Instead of Christian beliefs, or Jewish beliefs or Voodoo beliefs? I know Christian who molested kids in my community. Would he still be right, or it's just a matter of perspective again?
