Albert Anastasia is my great great great uncle. I come from a long line of the Anastasia family with Tony, Frank, Albert. Albert lived in NYC and was very distant to my great great uncle and other relatives around his time period. It's pretty suprising to find out your uncle was a big-time hitman for the mob but then again my family has grown up with the mob.
Albert Anastasia had to be taken out he tried to muscle in on other Mobsters like Lucky Luciano and Frank Costello. I think this is why he had to be wacked he was greedy and didnt care who had what all he wanted for was himself...go fig?????
@Ballerfella2007 Nah he was actually friends with luciano and costello. i've heard a few different theories on who killed him. i've heard gambino killed him because anastasia was out of control and so gambino could take over what was then the mangano family, i've heard vito genovese had him killed becuase he was allies with costello who genovese hated and tried to have killed, and i've heard meyer lansky ordered the hit after anastasia tried to muscle in on his gambling empire in cuba. who knows
