And I would not even classify Within Temptation as Gothic really. they just have some traits that are Gothic, but really they are just trying to be themselves. Just cause somebody sings in the symphonic metal style doesn't mean it has anything to do with Gothic.
I'll say this again. MY classification of it falls into Gothic. WT, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish...they all sound alike to me, and they all have this really dark yet incredibly beautiful. The cathedral-like symphony sounds also remind me of old Gothic Churches, hence the "Gothic" label TO ME.

Most goths draw influences from anything classic like she does, and mixes it with modern, and her own personal touch, and her own dark creativity. That doesn't mean she's not an indivual, she's probably the most unique artist I've ever listened to.
Yep, the whole point of being a goth being true to yourself, and drawing inspiration from dark and haunting aesthetics and historical/classical aesthetics, era and music, while combinding it with your own personal touch and dark creativity. That's EXACTLY what Miss Autumn does. And no problem.
I would say she's Gothic because she accepts that for every amount of light there is an equal amount of darkness that is not being talked about. But even that can't really define, can it? In my opinion, Emilie is the TOP Gothic singer. She opens your eyes a little bit.

Just a few things about EA that I have picked up, the style she created was Victoriandustrial, which is her music based on the harpsichord and violin. She is also not 'goth' or 'gothic lolita', she says in one of her interviews that she doesn't follow those styles, and the only reason their looks are similar is because they all stem for the same thing, the Victorian Era :) Sorry if that seemed a little harsh but I just love her music and find it hard to not comment when people aren't quite right
She truely does defy labling, one of the few artists I've found that do. But, again, when striving to label something to fit my image of it, then usually EA falls into the "Goth" category, as much for her tone of music (and by this I mean lyrics as much as anything else) as the way she looks. Also please remember that when I made this video, I had no idea who she was.

You goths say that you're non-conformists and that you don't care about labels... but you clearly do if you keep saying: "NIGHTWISH ISN'T GOTH! EVANESCENCE IS NOT GOTH!.." and so on. Why should you have to fit an image? Who cares about what you are? Just listen to what you like.
True, I am not a huge fan of labels, but when doing a "themed" vid such as this one (rather than a fan vid of a tv show/movie/etc) I have to come up with some kind of label for the music to make it fit what I want out of the vid.

Evanesence is NOT Gothic, nor is Lacuna Coil or Flyleaf. People can be so ignorant. Amy Lee has no idea the difference between goth-rock, pop-rock, or metal. the video was really good but (minor criticism only) you missed Emily Autumn of the list of artists pictures you used. she is the girl playing the violin at 02:29. Maybe if you like all of the above bands you should check her out.
