  • OKAY this is weird but i went to both of thoughs concerts

  • I loooved this show! I was very lightly into DEG before this show, but I am a srs fan now. I mainly went for TBM, but DEG was like whipped cream on an ice cream sundae; just purrfection!

  • OMFG you are SO lucky you saw them! I was soooo close to seeing them in Philly but my mom refused to pay for tickets and i was broke...

  • i wish i was there You made a greAt picture for me tho thumbs up

  • Thanks your review are always great

  • i remember you lol

i was the guy at the end who asked to see the pick and took it to get a better look but gave it back

i will admit that the idea of taking the pick and running did cross my mind, however, while i really wanted one, i decided not to cause i knew i'd feel really bad about it later, though if you decide to give the pick away i'll take it :D

while i love ruten no tou, i prefer it live (despite never hearing it till the concert) maybe its cause of how kyo sounds while singing live

  • Your bad with replies lol.

  • Toshiya... I had to LOL! I love your review & envy you so much, I'm always in the wrong place whenever Diru is on tour! ;-;

  • this is great... i subscribed ;3 because your reviews are awesome, i havent seen Dir en grey Live since 2007 when i was 14 and i was so gutted when i missed them doing the Uroboros tour. i so hope i get to see them again soon, but they dont really co to the UK much... which is a shame <3 x

  • Hahaha, DIR EN GREY fans be cray cray! XD (This referring specifically to the moshing girls, lol.)

  • They will never come to Australia ;_;

  • It was my friends and my first time seeing them and we enjoyed it. Sucks being short and not being able to move much though. XD Saw you there! ^^

  • Ugh, I hate having the shortness problem at concerts too. >.> Sounds like it was a lot of fun, though~

  • Kodou and rotting root were treats to the fans who weren't able to experience seeing them preform their older stuff live. Nothing they do is out of place. They didn't strictly set up a tour to only play hard songs nothing of the sort was ever said by any of the members.

  • @gow1021 actually I heard some people shouting play certain songs but I didn't hear anyone screaming it over and over nor did I hear anyone say "play something that doesn't suck"

  • I was reading on a blog that Dir en grey has been getting heckled by people on this tour. I read that in Baltimore Kyo visibly got pissed at the crowd for screaming things like "Play something that doesn't suck" or "play Yokan" over and over. If that's true it's really a shame. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this

  • @gow1021

I never saw anything of the sort. The response seemed great! and if somebody did say something like that it had no effect.

  • @TH3JROCKFAN Thank you for the response. Great video review! Can't wait to see these guys in Chicago.

  • @gow1021 I was there too and I didn't hear anything like that.

  • @gow1021 There are a couple of videos on youtube, kyo singing in Boston and it was really a shame. People have absolutely no respect and no taste whatsoever .

But I guess he BLEW their minds away at the end. He is such a genius

  • @cherrymak1992 That really is a shame! I just got back from their show here in Chicago. It was pretty amazing! Really good crowd. Didn't hear anything remotely disrespectful.

  • @gow1021 Well truth is to be told; Visual Kei is not THAT loved everywhere IF ever known.. People tend to "scorn" everything that is different .

Dir En Grey <3 <3 FOREVER

  • @gow1021 I didn't hear ANYTHING like that either. The crowd was loving it as far as I could tell.

  • Dude, I loved the show. It was cool actually getting to meet you there too. The performance of Hageshi and Lotus were so AMAZING. I got a full recording of Lotus with my phone.

I felt like there concert at Rams Head they were so unenergized. This time I felt like Kyo gave it his all.

I do feel like the Kodou was a little out of place, especially for the first encore song. However, they have never played that song live any of the times I've seen them. I was so happy to hear it live. <3

  • Oh yaaa!! I almost forgot that I'm going to get diru's remake of UROBOROS for new years this will be a way of supporting them and I can have something else of diru since I got different sense, uroboros, and dum spiro spero, and I also have proud by BORN! but I would also like to have that guitar pick ;)

  • Ahhhh ;() I'm so jealous of all of u ;( I wanted to see them in Chicago since its the nearest place to Memphis but I can't since I don't have money or a way to get their. If I could it would be awesome since it would have been my first concert and almost a gift since it would be the day of my winter break and also because I would have finished all these stupid semester exams.;( I just hope ill be able to see them one day ;)

  • (part 5) Apparently, the DVD Is going to be titled, "LIVE PERFORMANCE WORLD TOUR", it is confirmed that their recent show in Peru is most definantely going to be featured, and was recorded with 6 HD Cameras. I look foward to seeing that in all it's quality! Also, I'm hoping there's many clips from PARADOX OF RETALIATION too, so many flawless performances during that tour.

  • (part 4) I'm sure fans appreciate them touring so regularly despite the effect it can have on Kyo's vocals. I'm hoping he's in his best state for the "UROBOROS -that's where the truth is-" performance in Japan next year, seeing as it's going to be on a similar scale to the Budokan performances.. Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming Live DVD Jrockfan! It's going to be a compilation of performances all around the world. I had even noticed a camera-man filming the show in London.

  • (part 3) The reason they may have looked tired, specifically Kyo, is that his voice was adjusting to UROBOROS. An album that is the true origin of the varied techniques, the transitions from high-pitched bellows to deep growls.. He had alot of difficulty adjusting to it, I remember during 2009 in Japan, the tonality of his voice was completely different, sounded brittle and weak, and during that time I was really worried for him. Luckily, I feel they properly adjusted to UROBOROS during 2010.

  • (part 2) which really did not compliment the screaming parts. I do feel pretty bad for Kyo at times, I've kept updated with their live performances for years and, he tends to wear himself out. I've noticed he's having some difficulty reaching the highest notes recently, whereas during PARADOX OF RETALIATION, no trouble whatsoever. I do completely understand though, and regardless he's still a fantastic performer. And it's impressive for anyone to have so many attributes and techniques..

  • I was lucky in seeing them peform during PARADOX OF RETALIATION, in which Kyo's vocals where at a perfect state (considering it was after a short break), it was in London. Overall, the performance was superb. I mean, really perfect. However, the sound quality at the venue was simply awful. I had seen them a year before that, same venue.. And it sounded great. This year, the drums were way to loud, the guitars and bass were obscured, and kyo's vocals sounded fuzzy and distorted (part 1)

  • I saw them in 2007 when they had released Marrow of a Bone and last year when "Hageshi…" came out. Since I grew more attached to them since 2007, the one last year was amazing. They performed at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, which is also another small venue.

  • I saw them in Dallas! it was my first time and now I'm a fan :]

  • You got the pick???? I want one!

I missed their show last year and i'm kinda pissed i did. Next time they come i WILL go see them. I saw them back in 2008 and they were so intense and feeling at the venue was just amazing. Everyone was going nuts when they came out. Fun times..

  • I went to the London show. It was my first Dir En Grey concert actually and it was totally worth it. Actually the London show was focused on atmosphere, Kyo kept doing those atmospheric noises with the microphone and everyone was really quite while he did it. It was spooky.

Still, it was a brilliant show. The boys obviously knew what they were doing.

Those girls were really disrespectful. If they had a problem they should take it outside.

  • The NY show!!! 3rd time seeing them live, have to say it was their best show. Kyo's facial expressions alone were AMAZING. btw, didn't they play mazohyst of decadence at your show? That was amazing to hear live, a song off of Gauze...and one of their best songs in general

BTW I also caught Shinya's drumstick and fell to the floor with it! but a million people fell on top of me and after fighting for about 3 minutes with the stick on the floor i finally let it go, hahaha

  • -s pick. I would be honored for having such a prized possession. But at least I got splashed in the face by kaoru from his water bottle x3. Anyway man sorry for all the long comments I was just telling you my experience and it wouldn't let me fit it all on one post.

  • -pick.! I would be truly honored to have that pick! But on the bright side at least kaoru splashed me in the face with his water bottle lol.

  • As for the girls fighting that's truly disrespectful to the band and true fans of the band. Dir en grey preform for us. They care about fans and don't want bitches hurting each other. I had a great time I jumped no stop had my hands and horns up grabbed the back of peoples shirts getting them to jump with me and screamed, fell into people. It was great. I hope to go see exist trace in Phili in 2012 maybe you will be there? Haha. Anyway I can't wait for diru next year and your lucky having kaoru

  • Wow man I had no idea you were from baltimore Maryland. I was there also..man that concert was amazing.it was my 2nd time seeing them the first being at rams head live last year. I love this band so much I waited outside in the cold for an hour and 30 minutes with just my Uroboros shirt and a trench coat unzipped to see my favorite band. Bought 2 tickets to support them even more. I like your review you did a great job on it. You forgot to mention that they played rotting root. Another old song

  • I went to the NYC concert the 12th. I honestly didn't think it was going to be as mind-blowing as it was. Truly the greatest live band out there.

P.S. fan girls please stop standing in the middle of the mosh pits

  • I saw them in NY yesterday. It was... I can't even describe it.

  • I wish I could see them one day, not many Japanese bands come to Australia and when they do there isn't enough advertising, so I've never seen any :/

Great review as usual, I always look forward to watching them you do a great job :)

  • I saw them in Atlanta last week. It was amazing!! I sung along with every song.

It was my first time seeing them and I definitely gotta see them again. They had a sweet playlist at the one you went to. I wish they played Red Soil here because I woulda went crazy :D

  • DUDE!!!! IM FROM BALTIMORE MARYLAND TOO!!!!! OMG hahahaha I didnt know we live in the same state!!!!!!! X D
