  • Yay! A 2001 and a 1000T--two of my favorite sirens heard in this video.

  • Is this rare to get a tornado waring at 1 am in your area?

On August 19, we had one in Minneapolis, MN just missing the heart of downtown. I don't think it was even hot on this day.

  • Well it's not common...but it's not unheard of either...

  • In the 1930's a tornado hit Topeka that destroyed the campus of washburn University and killed 17 people and destroyed 500 homes and 50 businesses.

  • I think you mean 1966 right?

  • no the music that started at 0:06

  • From :00 - :22 is H B F S by Daft Punk. Look it up.

  • what was the first music?

  • Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk...I think

  • yes. I love tornados! I now partly own a digital camera so I will try to record our next tornado warning. keep watching my channel! in fact here in ohio tomorrow 5-26-08 we might get severe storms so I hope to record the action! thankd for posting this video.

  • Yeah, We was in class (T-High) signing songs, about to go outside when the siren in Downtown wound up, it sounded so erie and it was stormy looking out. My teacher said "I would not choose today to test the sirens." We went outside about to go to the field and they went off again, and this time since we was outside i heard the one from RMS too, made an even scarier sound. Everyone was panicking thinking a TW was issued. I told the teach. it about 3 test thing. In all they went off 3 times.

  • Tomorrow at noon, you should go to Burnetts Center, or go down to the South Shawnee County Community Center. Those are a few of the ones that failed to go off that night. I know there won't be anything impressive about it, but CJOnline is interested in little clips like that. Supposed to have some good storms tomorrow night too, and Tuesday as well.

  • I would love to, believe me. But i have school tomorrow. We will be outside (hopely) at noon for Cinco de Mayo celebrations and i might be able to get some sirens then (audio) but i can't promise anything.

  • Eek! I removed one of your comments, sorry about that. As a responde to your last comment, yeah I don't think we will get anything either.

  • Wow thats scary. That Thunderbolt 1000T sounded the scaryest to me.

  • Yeah, i never hear a Thunderbolt 1000T but the winds were blowing really hard so i heard a super loud 2001 and a Thunderbolt 1000T.

  • I'm SUPER SCARED of tornados so it always amazes me that people go OUTSIDE when they hear tornado sirens! :) I would have been shaking, hiding in a closet...but I see you have an interest in tornado sirens from your videos.

  • Oh i was shaking. All i knew is that there was a report of a Funnel or something about 5 Miles to the south of me, and i had just woken up so i was kina in shock. I did not expect any storms like that to develope.

  • yepyep, good thing it didnt actually touch down.

i heard that a funnel cloud was spotted over Forbes, and eventually lead to that forming east of Berryton.

I might be going to Lawrence later to record damage west of town. You should check it out.

  • By the time the sirens had stopped sounding the warning was over, so i didn't see much of the Weather coverage.

  • Dude. Were you sleeping?

  • Yes, but had woke up becasue of a Severe Storm Warning for my county, i was shuting windows on the back part of the house(60MPH winds was comming in) when i heard TWC beep "Tornado Warning" and then i started filming.
