@shortstuf1991 I just saw a documentary on this based on the autopsy reports 80-90 percent were found bearing needle marks to the back also based on reports from survivors claims were made that the military started using heavy enforcement in ensuring everyone would die.some were haunted and murdered trying to escape as well so to call it a mass suicide should seem obvious but it was more like a mass murder massacre.A few were blind followers and drank willingly but the majority were killed.

@ltuomela They didnt for my 'God' as you put jim jones used God to justify what he was doing which is very sad because they trusted him was he took advantage of naive andvulnerable people thats what people like him to they look for people who feel let down by family,peers and society in general provide them with false hope make them feel that they are loved and then take advantage, i personally think he killed them in his last effort to show that he had control over them

@shortstuf1991 well it was all about control..just like religion...and he killed them all cause he lost it...but not them all...maybe 80% were suicide..he was losing control, knew he was gonna be exposed knew folk didn't want to be there, knew the congressmen was gonna rat his ass out...and he was high as hell all the time..funny all use this god to justify any deed...after all this time, from roman times to now, you would think humanity stupid ass would wake up..unbelievable..

@shortstuf1991 I just saw a documentary on this based on the autopsy reports 80-90 percent were found bearing needle marks to the back also based on reports from survivors claims were made that the military started using heavy enforcement in ensuring everyone would die.some were haunted and murdered trying to escape as well so to call it a mass suicide should seem obvious but it was more like a mass murder massacre.A few were blind followers and drank willingly but the majority were killed.

I've read that there might be a chance that he didn't shoot himself. a survivor said that later they found suitcases with money and several passports belonging to jim jones. that maybe he wanted to make everyone kill themselves and then he would escape to somewhere else and start over. This person also said that it might have been possible a guard shot him when he saw his own family dying and knew jim was trying to escape the fate he gave the others

Jones had brought in guns that few people knew about and his "security force" (they has some name he used for them) were the ones who brandished the weapons when needed as insutrcted by Jones. That is presumed as there is very little documented evidence of when the guns were brought in and who knew about them.
