My girlfriends father (the biological one) has paranoid schizofrenia and is in a psychiatric clinic in Germany. She was four years old when her killed her mother in front of hers and her two sisters eyes. The girls including my girlfriend got adopted by aunt and uncle. My STUPID question (but I love her and care about our future) is if she will develop this disease like her father if there is a risk. They said that its 10% if one of the parents is schizofrenic. Is that something to worry about?
If you are schizophrenic, I don't think you should of had a baby...That's very selfish. I'm Bi Polar. I don't have kids because I don't want them to suffer like me.
You are a beautiful being. I'm isolated from reality like you, and I think in '3D' as you clearly define the sensation. I'm 25 years old, living alone without family/girlfriend/friends and having the same problem and I think you are strong for sharing those thoughts. thankyou.
What meds do you take? My girlfriend is sciziodeffective and bipolar also.the meds shes on help a little. you seem to be doing very well. e-meister@live.com
finding a good medication can take a long time. Are you getting better? i tried hiding in bed the other day, for another reason, and I had a bad relapse. After I graduate university, which I am hoping to do in the next three weeks, I want to take a leap and get out and make friends. I have my family and they are great, but I was encouraged to make friends. Sometimes I keep trying to do stuff that I hope will stop voices- have you had any successful strategies to stop voices at all?
You sound like everyone else on this planet to me. I don't know anyone who hasn't felt exactly like you have at some point. Whoever diagnosed you sounds like an idiot to me.
Thank you for sharing both your difficulties and things you do to help cope. I have experienced strong anxiety and depression, but I have had few symptoms of schizophrenia. But I sense that those of us who have a mental illness can encourage and support one another. Your videos help me to better understand the broader scope of mental illness. I hope to be able to support and help more people as I learn. So again, thank you. May God bless you and grant you peace.
Listen to the Italians, they know how to live. There is actually alot of mental illness in Italy, but they are very good at helping them. A healthy lifestyle really keeps you functioning well.
The mind is very deep, and its easy to sink into the zillions of different thought paths, along with the accompanied emotions. Basically you don't want to give yourself the time to think of this rubbish. Devote your time and energy towards 'doing' and not contemplating.
Yes ! The best way is to distract yourself. It works for all types of depression also.
Be selfish for a while. Find something you like. Get really involved in it. Enjoy it, be confident in it, make it into a hobby and aim to acheive something with it. Make it an enjoyable and respectable part of your life.
Excercise, get fresh air, swimming is really good, eat well, have a drink once in a while, wine is really good for feeling the blood pump through your body.
I feel so sorry for people with schizophrenia I really never knew about this disorder I heard my dad had it. But I'm clear. but my Girlfriend has it. In fact she has allot more then that and I really do love her and its really sad to know she has that or anybody for that matter. but since finding she has it I am very interested in learning about it. like I have some major health problems with my body but this disorder has really caught my eye. I hope they can find a cure
hello Sarah , i have schizophrenia i live in Poland i am 30 years old my name is Maciek , i feel like i have found my brother soul when i hear you , you are very beautifull inteligent girl , you are yourself that is the most important message for me from your videos , i also take medications and i am also bipolar :)

Your outlook is refreshing and you are more balanced and focused in your comments than many people I know, schizophrenic or otherwise. All the best to you. Be well. . .
when i was child i saw visions (no imagination) (horrible things)
but now has been disappeared, (no medication)
But this is good to draw bilds etc.. write stories etc..
I am not Skizo but I have too much depressions, I dont feel that I pertain to this planet, but is important to help others, and help persons with problems

great videos. I really liked hearing you talk about your experiences with schizophrenia. I am not diagnozed but I have some symtoms very similar to what you are talking about. It feels easier for me really to live to hear you speak about this. I get to hear it from someone who is a person.
Although I don't have Schizophrenia, I have had lots of mental struggles over the years and know that sense of futility too :-/ I diagnose you as an intelligent young lady with a very busy mind :) Hang in there kiddo and thanks for sharing :)
When you said, ''I'm trying not to think of myself as having this illness...'' I agree with you 100 percent. I know it may be hard, but you seem like a very strong person, you will get through this. I also have a mental illness, I understand how hard it is.
Dear Sarah, I feel like you are doing your best. It's good that you are staying with the meds. Jesus said "Don't be afraid, only believe" The holes in our heads can be very deep, dark and cold, and yes they are lonely. But you know that you are not alone as long as you can pray or reach out to another human being for interaction. Take baby steps, stay on your medication, and make some more videos!!!!! I'd like to see how you are doing now
I was diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression in 1997. After three different medications and seven years of struggling with it finally the symptoms went away. It took forever but it did happen.
You're doing really well, Sarha. Better than you think. Recovery is a long process and can seem slow but i've got got good news for you. It is possible to recover completely from this illness. It just takes time. Don't doubt yourself - you're making progress every day.
She is such an adorable and beautiful being in both her mind and body.
Now a doctor comes;'you are mentally ill,you are alot like something my fellow colleagues and books call schizophrenia(but honestly I really don't know what it is)' now you come;'you are ill, I'm a lot like you'

I don't know what she suffers from. I don't know how her world looks like and I never will. I don't know anything. All I do is saying to her, with my innermost feelings of heart;
my daughter was taken from her home to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. It was against her will. From there they took her to the carrier clinic in Belle meade, NJ.. She wants to continue on with vitamins.. but they want to push drugs on her! As her father, I am heart broken that she does not have that right.
i have paranoid schizofrenia and i have no way to break throughi saw a syciatrist for it once and i was saposd to keep going so i can get meds i also have social paranoia before i was diagnosed with schizo now and agein i see crow like animals crawling out of drans and i vomit blood i get verry deppress i tend to lay in bed alot and i here someone narating wut i do when i do it and sometimes i go into a dark world wher thers only me and nuthing around me, ppl say i fall asleep with my eyes open
you guys are the worst off. I'm sorry, man. No offense. I'm thankful to just be in lala land most of the time, or on an imaginary quest. I feel like my soul has been sucked out if it happens too much though, a lot of energy goes into delusions, especially if people start pushing my buttons, and they do bc they see me as weak. What can I do? I'm crazy, right?
You might want to think about trying something physically grounding, like gardening, riding a bike, etc. - something that can help you balance and re-find yourself in the midst of those extreme mental forces. I've found that simple activities and simple thoughts, also gently reasoning through thoughts as they become troublesome, are what helps me the most with my condition. Dance, Tai Chi, music, drumming, anything to vent out that excess neural/physical energy. I wish you the best!
I have to congratulate you for posting this video of your experiences! My friend was diagnosed 8 years ago and was put on meds. She was doing wonderful the whole time. Three weeks ago her doctor changed her meds and she is now back to 8 years ago. I love my friend and am very worried for her and her two children if she doesn't get back on her old meds!
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.
was diagonised at 20 but i didnt react to well to medication have a big love for motorbikes and wish i could say it helped me get threw but instead resulted in an accident was earwigs all over my hands and in my helmet, what can you do heh but i collect them for the yard my daughter whos now 10 laughs at me because she knows im terrified crossing a road even when theres no cars but she dosnt see what i see heh but shes who i stay strong for id be lost else, having a sence of humor helps too
I experienced a lot of what you've said. I believe a lot of what I have to do to cope is to continue functioning socially and mentally. I feel as though I need to sleep or I feel so awful I deserve to sleep an entire day away. Exercising and maintaining a good sleep wake cycle are important. A lot of my pain seems somatic, I feel pain on the left side of my head, I never feel quite awake, I was wondering if you had any of these physical symptoms.
Schizophrenia can be cured. I got it when i was eighteen. For two and a half years i felt like shit.letting silly things get in on me. My mind was always in deep thoughts. I could'nt remember where i left things. Thought the T.V and radio where talking to mehow i was feeling. I used to wake up in the mornings and the first thing i would think off is how to make it to the next day. 23 now and feel happy. My thoughts are fine. I look forward to each day. I've been off the med now for over a year.
hey wanna all good for you..to be happy and stuff..and release from demons...i also have schizo and demons...so and i hope for myself same like for you...wanna good luck for you dont give uo be sad..fuck that itl craps in your head..kises
2. you have always dressed different than main stream
3. your very aware of whats going on around you
4. you have nightmares since child hood If this is you Your just unique who wants to be like a clone robots that you see folling trends and with no brains/opions
i would almost agree. i think you are deep and smart...it is easy to get trapped in emotions/self...its a big dark place this world and even i get lost sometimes....i get moody..i hope its not bi-polar...mum is a bit but she uses too
i made a blog about my entire experience with schizophrenia over ten years (not on the channl i'm using for this) that was used by a lawyer who owned a lawfirm and used it to train the other lawyers in his lawfirm who advocate for the mentally ill. and it's been placed on forums. so i do what i can to help too. me and you have a lot of the same things like it's coming out of my mouth but my problem is not sleeping in bed enough. i delay taking my meds so i can be w/o sleep.
You right about not focusing on the fact about having schizophrenia It makes me depressed. I have been trying to take each day as it comes and try and avoid stressful situations, even if it means leave a social situation. You have some great advice, like small goals. I am guilty about being abit stuck though I do alot more than I used to. like you staying bed.
I see where your coming from. Good job on focusing skills and right meds! Your right about a lot of stuff. I was recently diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder but since ive changed doctors, therapists, etc, they are thinking like maybe im schizophrenic.
I'm really sorry about some of the asinine comments written by the morons who responded to your blog. Hopefully now there are better ways to cure mental illness, some years ago was horrible.
When a person have a problem like that, needs help of others, because be alone is like 50 times worse, when you have depression or illness.

you guys are the worst off.

And remember:
when life starts to get really bad, it could always get worse!
By which I don't mean we should anticipate how much worse things will get in the future,
but that we should just learn to accept the things that can't be changed... and learn to be happy no matter the circumstances....
I also have mental disorders (not skizo tho),
many which I have gotten under control simply by being mindful: to refuse to be controlled by the mind & to instead be the controller.
Good luck everyone

I've been off the med now for over a year.

i made a blog about my entire experience with schizophrenia over ten years (not on the channl i'm using for this) that was used by a lawyer who owned a lawfirm and used it to train the other lawyers in his lawfirm who advocate for the mentally ill. and it's been placed on forums. so i do what i can to help too. me and you have a lot of the same things like it's coming out of my mouth but my problem is not sleeping in bed enough. i delay taking my meds so i can be w/o sleep.
