knocking with the rubber side will damage the floor ... u are supossed to use the hard side by hitting with the hammer sliding on the floor witch will knock only the locking part and not touch the visible part ...

I have one of these. It works great. Don't think I'll ever put in another floor without it. Works especially well with pre-finished hardwood.
