@timforsyth89 yeah, and the trailbalzer was I6 and 4.2liter ... the escalade was 5.7 v8. big difference in size. if you compare other cars like 2002 ford explorer with a 4.0 liter v6, it only has around 200hp. huge difference. this is why chevy vortec engine's are supieror!
@StarzXFP until the guy buying the explorer checks the box saying "4.6L V8"...then he suddently didnt care about the I6 in the TB...and yes it was better to get the explorer with a v8 otherwise gm wouldnt have needed the 5.3L a few years later.
@k2sb20033 It's funny how you say the 4.6L V8 wins compared to the Vortec 4.2L I6. The V8 4.6, a bigger and 8 cylinder engine which burns more gas then a 4.2 I6 - only has 239 horsepower which is a joke compared to the I6 in trailblazers which produce 291hp and burn less gas. Smaller engine and more power. The optional 5.3L V8 is a small block 302hp engine and GM didn't create this because of the "v8 explorer"... the I6 engine was already dominant.
@StarzXFP im guessing you havent had both, but im sure your "buddy" has...horse power doesnt mean sh*t unless its in a useful power band...look at what rpm the I6 gets all that horse power at...then compare it to the fords v6. its all about usefulness. the other issues include an outdated 4 speed trans, the front diff runs through the oil pan, but hey at leasts its a true body on frame SUV.
@k2sb20033 Actually my dad has had a trailblazer and explorer... all I can say is that the trailblazer is fast and accelerates in a heartbeat and the 270-290 horses really kick in at all times.. you are wrong there. The explorer was okay, but pretty much only from like 0-50... after that it really wasn't as strong like the trailblazer which just eats up to the governor. Horsepower does mean "shit".
@StarzXFP been there too...and id have to say the opposite. gearing on the explorer does make a difference, if it doesnt have the 3.73, and only the 3.55 then yeah the v8 isnt much help. but outside of that no way, your nuts...
yea and i knew someone that had a 2007 with chrome 20s. good vehicle and with that optional 5.3 liter v8 damn good acceleration. the 6 cylinder of the old blazer was also a good motor
@timforsyth89 lolll stupid comment..... an escalade has a 8 cylinder engine and trailblazer inline 6 so please know you shit...trailblazer i a fucking good suv burn less gas than your escalade

@k2sb20033 I agree that the gearing on the explorer is much better then the trailblazer, in fact I prefer Ford transmissions way over Chevy's..
