My they sure did downsize the the Z-906..My buddy bought the unit and what an over all difference to the Z-5500 the center speaker & the Sub is noticeably smaller when you have them side by side.And when there running the subs sound the same but there is a difference in the center speaker plus the controler on the 906 looks well will say simple so over all you kind look towards the Z-5500..

What iv notice sense the Z-906 came out the price of the Z-5500 has gone through the roof check Amazon.com where the Z-5500 is going for close to a $1000 bucks pose to the Z-906 for $294.99 so what does this tell you..

@igrenade It also has a lot to do with the "newer" 906s being absolute crap compared to the 5500s..or even the z-680s. Seriously, they are cheap sounding pieces of garbage. I'd bet half the reviews from people saying they're awesome are either planted or from some1 who went from laptop speakers, to the 906. Logitech skimped out on everything big time with the 906s. The 5500s were the best speaker set Logitech ever made and "they don't make them like they used to"..people want em.

@igrenade Are you talking about the Z-5500 being in low supply...Im from Canada & its real easy to find the Z-5500 just about every computer store iv been in still has the unit still around..why they will be around is because of the Z-906 when people see the unit they want somthing better so they look towards the Z-5500 plus sense the z-906 came out the z-5500's price went through the Roof..I bought mine for $399.00 & check out Amazon.com there almost a thousand bucks.

@saidalex Do you like quality then the Z-5500..They only made the Z-906 because they had problems selling the Z-5500 there price Range was 399 to 500 pose to the Z-906 was 250 to 300 and weight was also an issue with the 5500 couriers services were charging $150 for delivering so this is why they downsized the Z-906 but if you compare specs there the same but the 906 has more plastic.

i heard that the z5500D's are actually better...i know the 5500's control pod looks classier and is easier to use (even though the backlight has failed on nearly every unit i've owned/gotten replaced), but i'd have to hear the z906 system to believe it's of worse quality. either way, i don't see a reason to let my 5500's go unless they stop working altogether. absolute monster of a system, with fantastic audio quality.

I currently have a 5.1 phillips system but really lacking. so I want a new system but I cant decide if I want the 5.1 z906 or the 2.1 z623. I mostly want bass but still appreciate sound quality (duh). Will it be worth it to get the surround sound effects of the 5.1 for gaming? I don't watch many movies on my pc (not until I get a better tv to set it up with). I'm not sure if it's worth it spending another 200+ bones.

What is the deal with Logitec making such throwaway controls? They look ugly as sin. I've had the z680s but man, these haven't changed much to keep with the times. No HDMI, no connectivity wifi, etc.

@dave777blaster boy, since is individual analogs cables, the home theater doesnt decode the sound. the pc do it, and send pcm decoded to the speakers. which is very good, since no matter the source, if connect correctly, youll have 5.1 6.1, 7.1 sound for any source, real time decode gaming, dolby and dts... you must worry if the the speakers can offer 192000hz and 24 bits. im confused with this things too

Also from what i buy from corsair (psu's and mesured them) they were always correctly rated (sometimes even underrated by corsair themselves). They're a good brand at the moment

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I'm very disappointed in this set. I know it has nothing to do with the performance or experience of listening to these speakers but for this price they really should look better. The tiny satellites, huge front-facing screws and the 1980's looking control panel are a step down in every way it's predecessor. Considering they also reduce the wattage and sub woofer size this really sucks. No one else has entered this segment of the market and Logitech got lazy
