  • I'm German, I live in Germany, I sometimes get up after 6 o'clock (most of the time actually).....and there's nothing wrong with me.... I hope.

    ;-))

  • i love Henning, saw him on Qi and wasnt quite sure. but i was able to catch a brief stand up he did and was in stitches. i love the way he uses the german stereotype and plays off it.

  • @RyanGiggsOBE he is really really good in The Unbelievable Truth - there should be episodes on youtube

  • anyone know where i can get free episodes onlien of this show...

  • How can one man represent the whole of Germany? Germany has a diverse culture that cannot be expresse by one man alone. Germany has a diverse culture whereas one German's idea of being a German may differ to anothers. Some hate the cliches and others embrace it.

Having said that David Mitchell perfectly represents everything brilliant about being English.

  • Acht Funf Null Funf Acht jawohl!!

  • Ensures stability of government my arse.

  • @demonliberal well it does. so fuck off.

  • @GermanEfficiency Sorry, I disagree. He DOES represent German behaviour perfectly. I was raised to think like that and it took me ten years in UK to be a lot more relaxed about life. You need to see us Germans from a distance to realise how funny we are ;))

  • I thought he was Dutch or really strong South African when he started speaking. I must admit that I thought he was hilarious. I love that kind of understated humour that kind of tricks you. I think it's clever. It gets on my nerves the way people in the uk (I'm from the UK) don't think Germans or French (etc) are funny. I think it'll change as more European comedians come into the uk though. I heard there's a few Scandinavian ones around London.

  • I am a German teacher, and lived there for three years, and Henning's accent is in no way a typical German accent. Where on earth does he come from.?Never heard a German talk like that.

  • @curonevans I think maybe his accent is affected by where he learnt English

  • @curonevans ruuuhrpott:D

  • @curonevans ruuuuuuhrpott :D

  • @keepXonXrockin Meinst du? I go the Ruhrpott every year and stay with different people. I still say his accent is vey unusual and has some kind of affectation.

  • @curonevans well, his wikipedia page says he was born in Hagen... but agree he's got a funny accent. i guess that once you have learned a language to a certain degree (but not to a degree of perfection) you develop your "own" accent, like a compostite of where you're from and a way of talking that is specific to you

  • Henning is funny but he scares me a little. It's like his head is slowly pulling apart like two tectonic plates outwards, with a widening seam in the middle of his head. Seriously, I can't stop staring at it and it's not good because he's actually really funny. >_<

  • the crowd is obvo biased towards the british comedian, classic arrogance. henning wehn is very funny, and david mitchell is an overrated prick

  • What... I thought that was called first-past-the-post? I thought proportional representation was what we DON'T have? I'm certain David knows more about politics than me, but this I thought I had right.

  • @amiablesnowman He meant henning was talking about PR being better. But then David said why FPTP has it's advantages.

  • @pigsnoutman So much for that theory though...

  • @pigsnoutman Or he just misspoke. He's a clever man, but he's not God, you know...

  • @amiablesnowman i think he meant "as opposed" to proportional representation it ensure some sort of parliamentary stability

  • Hes good. Love the German accent when they speak English.

  • i love frankie boyle just teetering in the background

  • I'm not sure about the accuracy of this statement, but I have read that the United States is the most overworked country in the world. If that's what Germany is like, I can't imagine how the U.S.A. could be any worse.

  • @RuskePerson Sure...and you ENVY us.

  • This show was soo good.. Henning was a legend.. and I don't think I remember Frankie Boyle being on it.. maybe he was a bit shyier back then..:)

  • AWFUL SOUND!

  • henning wehn is one of the funniest people in britain.

    hes awesome

  • i saw frankie boyle sitting there... what show is this from, and where can I see the full episode?

  • @fowad27 FAQ U

  • I can't fucking stand First Past the Post. And no it's not an issue of the 'chattering classes'. I just have this quaint idea that if most people HAVEN''T voted for you, then you shouldn't be able to take over the whole sodding country for four or five years.

  • I only found this because I was looking for David Mitchell. I’m German and I’ve never heard of Henning Wehn and I cringed first time I saw this. But I’m slowly getting used to him and I have to admit that he represents Germans quite well in a very embarrassing way: ”some people have got duties” aaahhh How does he manage to keep his German accent to this extend while living in London? Must be hard work.

I love the way David says “You lazy bastard”: I know why I’m not living in Germany any more

  • @anerley123 Yes I agree, however I think he has certainly picked up the Cockney accent - if you listen to some of his other videos you can definitely hear the 'sauf' in his accent.

  • @anerley123

All the good Germans were killed in the war.

  • @TomStraub That's not at all a bad thing to say to a German.

  • @anerley123 This is evidence of a lack of humour!

  • I love them both!

  • ... Everytime I see Henning I expect him to shout "HEEYYY YOU GUUUUUUYYYYSSS"

  • lol i love the way henning talks

  • @astroboirap

Him and david having a conversation is great :D

  • lmao, i wonder what was going through frankies mind xD

  • @MichaelBradley1988 probably something like "should I say the nazi joke with a german this close to me?"

  • Basil Fawlty "Ah you're German! I'm sorry, I thought there was something wrong with you"

  • boyle's on this... when did he first start doin tv?

  • You lazy bastard

    lmao

  • For Christs sake, why are there so many negative comments, it's just f***ing comedy, take it easy and don't go talking about politics (sorry for this negative comment).

  • No, David, it's not proportional representation, rather it is First Past The Post (FPTP) complete opposite!!!

  • Well done. Did you read that on Wikipedia or do you have a Politics A-Level? Shame that neither of them taught you that people in videos cannot read what you are saying.

  • Snap! Government & Politics Alevel

  • Ha Snap!

  • @ProtectTheDamned David Mitch said "that's a proportional representation thing" i.e. "your question refers to the proportional representation issue" i.e. he managed to be correct while speaking on-the-hoof - correctness being something you struggle to achieve even in the several minutes you spent ensuring we know what the initials of First Past The Post are.

  • was this on more4?

  • originally on Channel 4 at about midnight, but has since been repeated...

or vise versa, i watched it when it was on C4.

  • i always thought it was good of them to get a comedian with a handicap on until after a few shows i realised he was just german!

  • You`re so full of crap...

  • I thought it was rather amusing. :'D

  • Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha

  • @tbennett450

We sent him to Britain on parole.

  • What show was this on?

  • "I felt so bad".....lmao

  • he sounds south african

  • lol, have you ever heard a south african?

  • to be fair south african accents are like a mix europeans talking english and english people talking bad english.

  • Yeah, they sound like deaf retards.

  • There is no doubt, I have long noticed this.

  • Freaking hell! I certainly hope this isn't how South African accents sound. We're not quite so easily mistaken for being mentally retarded, I don't think.

  • So how does the south African accent sound? I'm sure it varies and I'm sure not everyone's ancestor came were dutch.

  • They're not, I'm British. But to be fair I'm from Zimbabwe mainly but the accent is pretty much the same.

There's some really strong accent which foreigners might think sounds similar to a German accent but it's very different to my ears. Mostly it's like most accents, a lot less strong than foreigners think. I live in Australia and get defensive when British people mimic the accent because I don't know anyone 9except for Steve Irwin) who sounds like that.

  • Nar, no need to get defensive. xD

When people mimic us we either sound like Prince Charlies or a gangster from a Guy Ritchie film. :D

  • Henning is German? Phew... thank god for that. I thought he had something wrong with him.

  • He does, he's german

  • Nice Fawlty Towers reference there.

  • At least someone noticed :S

  • 'You lazy bastard.'

    David Mitchell is amazing. X

  • What the fuck is wrong with the sound? It's impossible to listen to.

  • david mitchell is legend

  • Henning Wehn is awsome, "IN IT TO WIN IT!!!"

  • Was this supposed to be something like Colin Quinn's Tough Talk, or Tough Crowd? wow I'd forgotten about that show...

I suspect David Mitchell has misspoken and said proportional representation instead of First Past the Post but he's pretty great on the whole so I'll pretend I didn't notice

  • Oh my god, I LOVED Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. I was so angry when Comedy Central canceled it. It was such a good show. I wish they'd release dvds.

  • He was just saying that he thinks proporsional rep would be a better system - he said it WOULD ensure a fir voting system...

  • No, the joke was that Hitler came to power with 37% of the vote.

  • @DukeofWellington91

Man, you are way ahead of your time.

  • oh well done for noticing, how intelligent you are

    fag

  • not funny but is true...FACT

  • Where did u find this? Been trying to find some old FAQ U clips for ages. Desperatley trying to find David Mitchells Rant about "Dares". The funniest thing he's ever done and yet i cant find it anywhere! :(

  • sad comment, but its not proportional representation its first past the post thats the british electoral system, but mitchell is right about the stability comment.

  • Too right there, although first past the post is representational.

  • shame this shown was only on for a brief period. it was really good :)

  • You lazy bastard

  • What show is this from? And is that Frankie Boyle sitting next to DM? More info pls!

  • This was from FAQ U, shown in 2005 or 2006 I've forgot. It was on for 3 weeks.

  • And yes it is Frankie

  • was that frankie boyle next too them lol

  • henning owns the game

  • David Mitchell ftw!

  • what does ftw stand for?

  • for the win

    lol

  • fuck you dumbass

  • what the fact that i actually use the proper english langauge?

oh yeah that classes me as a "dumbass"

you know, it's people like you with your stupid shortend words that has ruined society. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • haha! calm down! its not like i talk like that in real life, its the internet mate. lolz

  • thegoodcocklife is correct, you lot should hang your heads in shame. Perhaps harm yourselves a little or go into the cupboard under the stairs to hide the shame. just be ashamed...

  • Hahahahaha this guy is great..me and my german mate had a massive discussion one day about how the comedy scene is lacking a german comedian with this exact style of humour and then i find this..he is really genuinely funny and doesnt even seem to have to try very hard!

  • We are all like that, we just do not feel the need to show off all the time ;)

  • Didn't David Mitchell originally study politics at Cambridge??

  • No, history I think

  • History

  • Well my mistake..

  • hat henning ein doppelkinn? :-O :-P

  • why do i find it sexy when david mitchell talks about proportional representation? what is wrong with me?

  • You're not the only one... <3

    ^-^

  • Definately not!

  • he barely mentioned it, weirdo.

  • Doesn't mean it can't be sexy if only briefly, arsehole!

  • I find David Mitchell sexy all the time

  • you should have gone too specs savers

  • @scatterbrainedfloozy

it errrr.... provides a more STABLE form of government.... yeah stable, ooh ;)

  • hes a german comedian who always gets quoted on those 100 greatest goals and greatest adverts and anything like

  • "You lazy bastard..."

    PMSL

  • Who is this Henning guy?

  • he's a german comedian.

  • he's sounds like bruce lee, in that interview he did

  • Henning..as usual u f let ze Fatherland down..vit your inefficiency..Frank Sanazi

  • why?

  • henning said how come labour only got 37% of the vote in the general election but still have an absolute majority in the house of commons and david said its a proportional representation thing which is wrong because we don't have a proportional representation system we have a first past the post system which is based on the amount of constituencies a party wins not the amount of votes they get

  • Mitchell said "That's a proportional representation thing" because we don't employ the system, while Germany does. Henning is from Germany.

He didn't say we used PR, he simply used the term as he was beginning to explain it; and stopped himself when he realised it wasn't funny.

David Mitchell knows what he's talking about, and it is "a proportional representation thing"... the fact we don't have it.

You, sir, are a pedant. Good day.

  • ok why, when asked a question about the british voting system, would david mitchell give an answer about the german system?

didn't think that through did you?

  • Because the guy asking the question is German.

  • but he wasn't asking about the german system you berk. henning asked the question about the british system so he wants an answer about the british system. he already knos about the german one which is why he didn't ask about it you cretin

  • He asked because the systems are different.

    The answer was...

    "That's a proportional representation thing..."

big pause. (realising that it's not funny)...

"It ensures stablility of government." (talking about FPTP)

It was badly expressed. All I am saying is that, having seen a lot of David Mitchell, he knows his stuff.

Just take my word for it.

    Good day.

  • but he was saying it in such a way that implied that it was inferior to the german system, which uses p.r., hence the acknowledgement from mitchell, who then (correctly) suggested a reason for why the UK form of election is a valid form. which is fine, the only person who has a problem with this is you, everyone else can understand it perfectly.

  • Allmodcons6:

I always consider that if a joke or whatever needs to be explained then it isn't going to be funny. This needed explaining, Mitchell recognised that and aborted his gag, why is it even under scrutiny?!

Mitchell knows the score and he is one of the funniest men we are lucky enough to see on tv these days...

  • not sure you get it mate, it's post-post modern. and that's not me being poncy. it's avant garde stuff. I think it's funny to explain the joke even if i got it the first time coz it gives a sideways look at comedy itself, that idea of breaking the 4th wall.

there is an audience that wants that sort of comedy.

  • actually we have the first past the post system not proportional representation, but i reckon mitchell would rape me in a history conversation so i wont hold it against him lol

  • The point he was making was that we DON'T have propotional representation, that's why he made a comment about "stability of government", proportional representation tends to lead to weak coalition governments.

  • "it's a proportional representation thing" - i.e. it's an argument for proportional representation.

  • Do you have the whole episode? In Quebec we can't get brit tv and David Mitchell Frankie Boyle are hilarious and this German seems really interesting. If you could upload it please thanks much love.

  • That lazy (Ger)man has got my Ikea cushion. DM is top. x ;)

  • Hehehe so funny :) DM rocks.

  • I loved this programme when it was on! mitchell was hilarious.

  • Henning Wehn...LEGEND!

  • "It's not funny but it's true" LOL

  • 'You lazy bastard...' lol! David Mitchell is wizard!

  • fuck David?

    Yes please :)

  • Ladies and gentlemen, someone pretending to be drunk.

  • true lol.

  • lolol 0:-)
