My sister and i saw Jerry and the Dead many times together. It was only fitting to play this song at the close of her funeral. Heidie we'll all be together forvever and ever when we make it to the promise land! until then i miss you lil sis so much =*(
My brother and I danced to this at my wedding. Our dad passed away 12 years ago and he stood in to walk me down the aisle and for the father/daughter dance :) Great song!
to qoute Wavy Gravy from Jer's memorial "where do we go for the song , now that the singer has gone ?" Hunter's lyrics will live on forever . unfortunately there is a limited supply of Garcia . he was prolific thank heavens and shared with his fans most all of his work . Viva Garcia !
Crossed Market Street, knew Jerry was playing the warfield, bought some tickets on the street, got a gin and tonic, went to the floor and got floored. Whatever it was Jerry had it. Next show was backstage Oakland. The only time I ever saw Hells Angels and Housewives rubbing shoulders. Very cool and wierd. Then he was gone. Jerry had love and those who were there knew it. Say what you will, but Jerry was here and now, forget about tomorrow because it does not exist.
@sharegrace I once heard an interview where Jerry said he was working on a film project- trying to make Vonnegut's great book Sirens of Titan into a movie.
Just a wild guess: a dude who worshiped an agnostic like Vonnegut probably wasn't all that big on Jesus.
It's cool that you are- well, not really. I find Christians, on the whole, to be either very afraid or very lazy intellectually.
Jerry was no fool, nor was Vonnegut, nor I pray you when the end comes. Like Silvio says, one of these days and it wont be long going down to the valley and sing my song....let the echo decide if I was right or wrong.
Check out Divine Mercy. Faustina, Poland, 1930s. Just Bing it.
Purgatory is more of a process than a place. Pray for Jerry, Brent, Ron, Vince, Keith and all deceased souls.
@sharegrace I have studied the odds at great length my cocksure fool of a friend. The current odds that ANY story humans have concocted for how we got here and where we go when we die, and there are THOUSANDS of them, is actually correct is under 1%.
The odds on Christianity, specifically, being the correct story are approximately 12 billion to one.
Not a very good bet.
I would talk to your bookie before making any permanent decisions.
My soul sister sent me this link and I'm so glad she did! I love and miss Jerry so much. Can you believe it has been 15 years since his passing? My Sisters and brothers is a great song sang so beautifully by J.G.

NO dislikes on this...
Brothers and Sisters of Jesus Christ, as we travel through this land, work and pray for peace. Be reconciled with one another.
Jerry was no fool. When Jesus Christ offered him salvation and love, I am sure Jerry went to the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ.
I pray for his soul. They can't pray for themselves anymore, thus they need our prayers. Souls in purgatory can pray for us..
I love you but Jesus Christ loves you the best.

@tristramshandy3 I made my wager, Pascal's wager my friend.
No worries. If you are right, no worries, if I am right no worries for you and I.
Everything in the world turns to dust....except the human soul. Pope Benedict XVI.
Peace to you... The music was nice to listen to.

@sharegrace if you are right, I will burn in eternal hellfire. Thank GOD you aren't right :)
"Socrates said the best opinion to have about the gods is to have no opinion at all"- from the essays of Montaigne.
So that is the conclusion the two smartest human beings of all time have reached. I'm glad you were smart enough to figure out what they couldn't
