King Dedede THINKS that Meta Knight is on his side, yet Meta also constantly teams up with Kirby or keeps him from doing certain things (or tries to... in Squeak Squad for instance). It's hard to know Meta Knight's motives. For now, just to give a close equivalent to what he is now, he's like HAL's Shadow. His past is very unknown. He starts off looking like he's an enemy, but he keeps Kirby safe.

Metaknight isnt really a bad guy, in most fights(in anime) he actually is helping kirby, he is fighting to make him stronger, in squeak squad he was fighting to protect that treasure chest so kirby wouldnt open it(there was darkness inside) in amazing mirror its just copy of meta knight, and in super star(ultra) he is trying to take over dreamland because of how lazy people are and how helpess they are, but kirby proves him wrong, so yeah, meta knight is good guy

Meta Knight's goal was to overthrow the corrupt Dedede monarchy and make the lazy and helpless lifestyle of Dreamland's denizens a thing of the past. Kirby singlehandedly stopping his plan wouldn't covince him anything about the rest of Dreamland. All it shows to him is as long as Kirby is there, he won't be taking Dreamland.

His thoughts towards the rest might still be the same.
