I can help with questions. I was there. I was his crew chief. It was Formula Atlantic, not Indycar. The roll hoop didn't fail. In fact his worst injury was his hand. It got caught between the hoop over the steering wheel and the track. Kinda wore a hole of sorts. I, honest to God, thought he was dead. and this was my best friend. Very surreal to see the footage again. Sickly feeling actually. We quit racing after this. Was to be a hobby, not this serious.
@papakilleen I'm glad he wasn't hurt that badly, and that you guys quit. I wish Dan Wheldon had quit after his Indy win. Makes you wonder when they have everything...why isn't that enough?
His roll hoop failed, you can see his head bouncing off the track and when upside down the weight of his car was on his head. He's very lucky this didn't kill him or make him wheelchair bound.
