This is right up there with 'Love Won't Let Me Wait' and all the other gem's from SOUL's golden era's rest in peace Sherrick it's a shame but your voice will live on.
I have never heard of him before. How could I not hear of such a talented man. This guy could truly sing. He's right there with Howard Hewitt and DeBarge - great vocal range!!!
I used to sit right next to him at our "day job" in about 1997. I knew he sang then but I had no idea he had such great talent...He was a fun guy to work with and I was just shocked when I learned he died.
Have been searching for Sherrick albums / songs for ages. Very sad to hear that he died. What a waste of talent cos his voice is the bomb! Almost as good as Luther lol.
Unfortunately that is the errie thing about you-tube-
Back in the 80's you hear good tunes from a particular artist, then nothing is heard from them again. Until you log on here years later and find out they have passed away.
Remember seeing him back in the day on soul train, was transfixed to the screen jaw to the floor. What a sad loss but never forgotten.
This is one of the most beautiful song ever composed and sung. So sensuous, so intense and meaningful. God may bless America: only you Americans can sing so well (in this musical repertoire.) So sexy! What a great album. Sherrick is unfortunately not well known in Europe, too bad. But his reputation in the US is sufficient: he's now a legend! What a lovely, perfectly controled voice! Many thanks for posting!
I first saw Sherrick on Soul Train back in the late 80's what a talent. I got his album, he's not the only artist that never made a big splash, but damn he was good
Thank you so much! I searched for such a long time for this song. for anyone who loves Sherrick, try Eugene Wilde, Glenn Jones, Howard Hewitt and colonel Abrams.
This cat was no joke back in the day....I was in college in Oneonta N.Y.....wow takes me back big time in a good way.....R.I.P my brother
