  • Brent Spiner's machinist doppelganger.

  • you're no pro unless you've got a digital caliper with cracked display

  • What about the rest of the engine?

  • This guy really knows his stuff... Excellent video thanks for sharing

  • Is there no auto focus on that camera?

  • Nice info from bmw e46 Please try to show tips for VANOS SYSTEM. Do the video because the vanos has a lot think to said ! Like how changed? How repaired Vanos kit ? How mount the vanos back step by step ? And how work and what is so IMPORTANT the vanos in a bmw and. What kind a power has in the cam &time & stroke. Thanks I hope guys that videos. And more you are EXELLENT

  • you are great at it so they follow it,,, continue ans stiil like that PERFECT video you know what im talking about

  • couse everybody needs a 1000hp.. at the weels.. all the time +1 for that!

  • Awesome video. But seriously guys... did you have to film at F1.4 with such shallow depth of field. Looks great and all for music videos or commercials, but really irritating when the Camera operator keeps missing his focus marks and we can't see whats going on.

  • yes! everybody! )

  • must find song! what band is it?

  • @ 10:52 Brian is talking rubbish when he says they've DOUBLED the thickness. Im sure he's confusing a lot of people with that. Well... people who are paying attention, anyway.

  • AWESOME VID!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

  • I swear after watching this series, I'd happily pay any dollar amount to have this guy rebuild my engine, and I don't even drive a bmw

  • What a great series, I haven't seen anything like it. Will you show how you build the cylinder head too?

  • weird camera techniques give me a headache....

  • Basically the secret is building an absolutely perfect engine.

  • what is the name of the song in this video?

  • @exaro. If you could tell they're in America, you'd tell that he's talking in inches. If you also had a brain, you'd be able to guess what 100/1000ths of an inch was. If you still can't tell how much that is, look between your legs...Yeah, that thick. X

  • @William1st~ U clearly dont have much of a brain if you're resorting to "you have a small dick" insults.

  • so basically its around 100k to get the true 1000rwhp at the wheels? haha id still take a supra...

  • Because everybody needs over a 1000hp at the wheels at any time. LMAO

  • awesome videos, great info and very interesting watching a well thought out and maintained engine build.

Now I just need a better job so I can THINK about owning a HPF M3..... lol, j/k... a WAY better job.

  • this is great info. Thanks alot Chris!

  • I just can w8 part 5

  • @kenzocs~ im pretty sure theres not gonna be a part 5.

  • You guys should make a video installing the block and head together. great video. I want to get an M3 so bad.

  • amazing

  • Well done chris. These vids really explain how a motor is put together for me. Just one question......Why don't you ring the blocks and head ?? I've seen quite a few people do this to their turbo builds , Do you think theres not point iin doing this and why ?? Please please make some more engine building vids you are causin quite a stir over here in the uk.

  • @DonutManBMW There's no need to ring a properly mating block and head, using the proper head gasket, and clamping them together (at the proper torque) using extremely hard studs such as the L19 (L19 studs will hardly stretch at all, even under extreme boost). This means that the head will not lift from the block, even under extreme boost. Besides, you wouldn't want to ring the block and head with such narrow cylinder walls (between cylinder and cylinder).

  • You made a fan out of me with these videos! Thank you! ! !

  • Great video series.

  • a hundred thousands thicker? go metric instead so the rest of the world understands you.

  • @exaro as in 1/10 ? lol

  • @exaro i agree with you exaro. metric makes life easier, and more accurate.

  • @exaro sure he could of said 2.5mm but NOBODY engineers in metric try asking for a 0.5mm overbore, even in europe you will get laughed at. 20 thou no problem 0.5mm fuck off!

  • @exaro its hard to use metric when all of your cutting tools and gages are in English units. all of these parts are in metric because its a BMW his equipment is in English units thats why he uses them.

  • @exaro~ Metric FTW!!!

  • @exaro~ ye its really stupid. And its also really stupid the way they express it. Its really hard, for someone whos not familiar with it, to understand it.

Metric is so much easier, i dont know why they dont go with it?!

Whats even stupider is that they'll say, "one hundred thousandths of an inch", instead of just, "one tenth of an inch"!

  • @exaro go standard so everyone else is more accurate?

  • @exaro 0.232 inches = 5.8928 millimeters - 0.137 inches = 3.4798 millimeters

  • @exaro that is how they teach you to measure it and those are the STD. measurementes for those parts the rest of the world needs to LEARN and actually try to read a bit......

  • @exaro

Regardless of country the standard in machining is to still use the imperial system

  • NICE WORK, ABSOLUT PERFECT, HOPE TO SEE MORE,

    PRECISION LIKE IN SWISS-WATCH ;-)

    cheers rotexbmwdrift from swizerland ;-D

  • Looking forward to seeing the rest.

  • So now you know :D

  • JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • brians knows his sh*t!!!

  • Love the professional work Chris!! I can watch these vids all day... Can't wait to get my M3 over to u guys..
