  • Great slideshow - obviously not working within the usual limited and/or narrow-minded definitions. So many gone though - more people gotta step up!

Check "Rosetta West - Underground" for some raw slide guitar blues, btw

  • Booker white in the photo

  • whats the songs name?

  • Is posible that some one could write the name of each of them please ^^

  • @Cri5stian 1.Muddy Waters,2.Robert Johnson,3.??,4.Buddy Guy,5.John Lee Hooker,6.B.B.King,7.??,8.Eric Clapton,9.Chuck Berry,10.Jack White(in this video with the song"Ball And Biscuit",11.Bo Diddley,12.Stevie Ray Vaughan,13.Gary Moore,14.Willie Dixon,15.??,16.??,17.??,18.Johnny Winter,19.Sonny Boy Williamson II,20.?,21.Rory Gallagher,22.Jeff Beck,23.Jimmy Page,24.,25.Jeff Healey,26.,27.Ray Charles,28.(at the front with guitar,again)Buddy Guy,29.(also again)Robert Johnson,30.Albert King,31.,32.,33.

  • @Patrishaify ..........№3Howlin Wolf

  • @vovagrigoriev .№3 Freddie King:)

  • @Cri5stian so that're nearly all :)

  • Obviously you guys don't know how good of a guitarist Jack White is.

  • Comment removed

  • I could only name half of them. I am ashamed of myself.

  • awesome song, man . could you pls. tell me the name and artist of the song.

    thanks

  • @sakutasu It's The White Stripes with Ball and biscuit awesome song indeed :D.

  • WTF?? where is jimi hendrix?? how u can say that jack white, can be consider as blues legend? this is CRAP and bullshit..F**K jack white..he doesnt deserve the title..replace him with hendrix..thats how fucking it should be..

  • @FatalFrame06 look in the tags. This person most likely meant to put jimi hendrix instead of jack white. just saying. :)

  • @FatalFrame06 It's just a list, on youtube. Nothing official. So I don't know why you're crying.

  • jack white has no "independence of feel"

    in his guitar playing

if you dont know what "that" is

    you dont have it either

any guitar player can do this

its sorta like the nirvana of the blues

  • @flexmuse yea it is sort of like the nirvana type blues but it does have a lot of feeling in my point of view. this song at least. im not too familiar with his other songs. it doesnt have nearly as much feeling as some other songs but i can tell he was feeling the song when he was playing it. feeling from the heart i mean. granted its not all out broken hearted blues, in my opinion its still good blues though

  • @NANDO218

white's cover of son house's "death letter" is about his best blues cover

as far as accurately imitating guitar technique

but son was old, drunk broken and had a stroke by the time this video of house was filmed

in house's younger days he had quite the technique and tons of "independance of feel"

    definition of independance of feel

playing two or more guitar licks simultaneously

  • who plays the music??????????????

  • jack is too cold.......hes a blues man!!!

  • @DANizDAN I understand.

  • if you dont think the whites stripes played blues you dont know the white stripes, they were the band that turned me onto robert johnson

  • perfectly done ! good video with a great song

    thanks

  • Where are ZZ Top and Jim Vaughan ? Jack White and Blues are 2 different things.....

  • ye the solo is Jack White signature.

  • @telebluesful 1:50 - 2:30 is pretty wicked I may say. My last name is White and I like to consider myselft the butter on the biscuit =) Jack is a bad ass . Rory Gallagher is a legend .

  • More than 160k people should see this.

  • Jack White deserves to be on the list of blues legends. no doubt.

  • Did I miss him or have you forgot Jimi Hendrix?!!

  • Rory Gallagher should def be on the list. So glad I was exposed to him 10 years ago.. Tattooed Lady never gets old..whole album!

  • Hmm, passion. To think much of this would have, could have been lost forever. God's been good to us all letting the blues live on. Thank you to all who live it and breathe it. Thanks to Albert Lee for carrying Clapton a lot of the time; thanks to John Mayall for bringing so many musicians through in one piece; thanks to Len & Phil Chess and The Voice of The Negro and thanks most of all to all those dudes who just did it. Who should be on this list? Obviously too many to make a list!

  • @Hector3251

Hi, RORY is indeed included,as he should be !!! Maybe you`ve overlooked. Check at 2.55,he`s shown before Jeff beck and Jimmy Page ;-)

    RORY FOREVER !!!

  • Man... I can't believe how many times i listen 2 this song. I've been living in the blues all my life; playing harp over 32 yrs; & Mr White & his Sis(?) are doing a dis-service to blues history not lettin me & the Blue Star Spirit sit in on a recording.

Can hear it already; the ability to cut loose... I'll keep my foot on this here... block of wood until some One who knows them sees this n passes the message =)

    Great songs...

  • onde está SLASH ?!?!?!?!

  • if he not hes still dam good

  • wtf this rocks...kinda too much for being blues? xD

  • If Jack White is the One playing this song then I'd have 2 say yeah Baby; "& its a fact that I'm the seventh son" <3

  • F'n rights "He's a Bluesman"... Mr Johnny Winter played with Muddy Waters &c. He has got the Mississippi Blues. =)

  • lol

  • good job. thanks for thinkin out of the box.

  • What no Jimi Hendrix????? He was all blues and the very best ever. Bad video if you omit the master.

  • @hesmon

    Indeed

  • yeah baby when you got it... you got it thanks for sharing

  • Jack may not be a legend of ole, but he fuhqin rocks and will be a legend in good ole time.

  • Who is the guy in the second picture with the cigarette in his mouth and he's holding a guitar?

  • @hatwearinghockeyplay robert johnson. hes pretty great

  • Ball and Biscuit by White Stripes morons.

  • nice switch to distortion before doing your lame bar chord chorus. You should be playing with a class D metal act in my son's band you might just fit in. Oh ya, average age is about 14 do you qualify? keep practicing thats right where I was 35yrs. ago

  • @sonofpregnant I don't think he can hear you

  • @sonofpregnant fuck off, tosser

  • What's this song?

  • Excellent....!!!!

  • posted on christmas! :D

  • what aboute Brian Setzer ?

  • if they only knew

  • I can't stand music snobs. Lets try encouraging people to explore the genre instead of trying to force them into a narrow perspective of what's good or not. When I was seven I thought The Fabulous Thunderbirds were....... fabulous. I don't feel the same way now but I do credit them with broadening my horizons. Lets try not to put labels on things and focus more on enjoying and sharing the music. Seems like alot of Blues "experts" are missing the point of the Blues.

  • Excelent!!!

  • Vet coole band!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @PeopleLetMe

if you're such an authority on blues gods why do you need names?

  • Jack White has now been elevated to a Blues Legend ? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • There are only 3 legends 3 kings :)

  • where is Lemmy?

  • Thank you,kindly!(mind over matter,those that mind,don't matter...;)

  • TAMBIEN. AL CAFE DEL CERRO. ALGUNOS VA HABER QUE DESENTERRARLOS. Y A OTROS DESCUBRIR. PERO ESA MUSICA VA A ESTAR. THE BEST OF BESTIAS DEL BLUESSSSSSSSS. GENIAL EL TEMA. Y ELTRABAJO. MIS felicitaciones. GRAN TRABAJO.....

  • This song & video... wOo I want to have hot freaky fun sex to this song!!

  • Nice!!

  • the names? am new how the fuck i look for them!

  • Brilliant video my friend...........and a nice bluesy track to go with it.

    nice job.

  • Great compilation !

  • 1: 48 to 1 : 55 ?

  • @ukraininoak gary moore

  • real legends mixed with real shit . sorry ....

  • Err... these are NOT blues legends.

These are great musicians, but not the legendary pre-war founders of the south.

  • @RascalKyng

what? You may not agree with all of his picks, but how can you say muddy, freddie, rj etc arent blues legends? LOL

  • check out the youtube video 26 Best Blues and Jazz Guitarist's

  • hoow dont u not have jimi hendrix.. jimi should be on there more then jimmy page

  • whats the song name?

  • @FuckStaub ball and biscuit, check out the live version it's awesome

  • you put all toghether, the teachers, the students and the robbers!!

  • I'm no were near as good as these guys but, can any of you guys check my blues improvisation out I really want some good advice and feedback, much appreciated.

  • Not usually a white stripes fan, but this is pretty cool. Don't get me wrong I recognize their niche and talent, just not my thing.

  • JSLLH - What the fuck is he talking about. If this ain't the blues then they ain't never been done. He should check out everything about Jack White, the man is as raw and honest as a player can be, relying on skills instead of technology.

  • adorei o som... da hora... muito loko.... =D

  • Where is Rev. Willy Gibbons?

  • Jack White as Blues Legend?

    Weird....

  • @zzfanhun

How? White Stripes and Raconteurs are both blues inspired.

  • @zzfanhun i don't think so, i was thinking the same when i just saw him in there.. :S

  • @SiempreAnomimo :-) Little bit funny.....

  • @zzfanhun not weird ACCURATE!

  • Ball and BIscuit!! love it, and love this slide show man! great job!

  • Nice

  • anybody can pick up an insrument and play blues form all their life ! it doesnt make you a bluesman though ! there is only a handfull of real honest to god bluesmen left ! playing blues licks all up and down your guitar or whatever the media or you tell the world aint gonna turn you into a bluesman ! all of your heros , if they are being honest , may let you in on a little secret ! like i said before , and this is a clue ! check out honeyboy edwards ! he is real ! not you or i ! thank you

  • @JSLLH honeyboy edwards homesick james buddy guy robert lockwood james cotton some of the true bluesmen I have seen, pretty real I get what you mean

  • honeyboy edwards is a bluesman ! he has a full understanding on this topic ! he can tell if someone is a bluesman or not ! there are not many left just look around ! that era will soon be over for real ! once that happens everybody that wants to be called a bluesman or blues woman can jump out and say I AM THE BLUES even more so than they do now ! goofy huh ? it is a waste of everybodies time boys and girls ! it has been like this forever ! it will never change ! thats showbiz !

  • who's singing?

  • pretty sure that's Jack White.

  • Jack White from the White Stripes: Ball and Biscuit

  • Can't belive it, do you have any idea what the blues is?

  • fly farm blues...???

  • 1:22? wtf?

  • the best perfect show de bola

  • Ya know i'm kinda tired of everyone getting down on Mayer and Joe B. Are they not really "traditionalists" in the blues?

    No. not really.

But are they trying to bring blues back into a generation overrun with pop, emo, no-balls-rock, and thousands of different "metal"

    Yes.

So even if they are a little on the pop side, you still have to give them credit, where credit is due.

  • Your point is reasonably persuasive.

  • clapton, beck, srv, p.green - good whites

mayer - too pop, and not good

bonamassa - too heavy, too technical, not good :-)

  • agreed.... :)

  • @youreok88 totally agree but don't forget page. he used to play really nice blues

  • why do we have to compare guitar players? its so pointless. they dont make songs so that we can compare their skills with others, thats just ridiculous.

mayer, bonamassa, SRV, they all sound fantastic. who cares if mayer plays pop or bonamassa doesnt play blues right, THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS THAT THEY SOUND GOOD.

  • Very groovy! Great!

  • Did u mean "rulezzzzzzzzzz" ?

  • This may sound sorta weird and contradictory, and matter of fact i like a number of white blues guitar players(clapton, beck, srv,p.green etc.), but there is something that disturbs me about these new white kids like john mayer and bonamassa, shepperd and lang playing blues music, idk why but id just doesn't sit well...

  • Yeah, i don't find that with people like SRV or Jack White. The whole 'whites cant play blues' thing is annoying too, look at seasick steve haha :D.

I do agree with you about mayer and bonamassa, it's not gritty enough for my liking :\

  • yeah man I agree, whites CAN play blues, and I like seasick steve very much, its just something so not genuine about mayer and bonawhatever

  • Bonamassa and mayer sound way too clean cut like pop music tbh. This song, ball and biscuit is real raw bluesy sounding even if it is non traditional, this is what i think of when i think 'modern blues'. The elements are all there but its got a modern take on it curtoursy of jack white ;).

Bonamassa sounds like someone 'playing the blues' and not feeling it , SRV for instance put his heart and soul into it and of course, was influenced by lightnin hopkins who he always admired.

  • Are you saying white people should only play "white" music and blacks should only play "black" music? What the heck does a persons color have to do with the music they play? Sounds racist against blacks and whites. Contradictory is an understatement.

  • I know sounds contradictory... on the one hand I like white men who played with their soul(SRV) but on the other hate bogus BS (john bubblegum pop your body is a wonderland mayer) hmmm...wait! it has nothing to do with race. It got something to do with whether they PLAY WITH THEIR FUCKING HEART! or whether they're just bogus pop drivel...

  • Jack White isn't a legend. YET.

  • Jack White ??? Legend ???hahahhaahhaahhaha

  • WHat the hell, joe Bonamassa is next generations blues man, hes at the top of the heirarchy! period!

  • oh and by the way. Joe Bonamassa is the most over rated guitar player ever. he sounds like every other SRV copy except he plays a Les Paul. John Mayer at least takes the influence of SRV and makes it HIS OWN by doing HIS OWN THINGS. AND John Mayer is the closest to bringing the blues in the mainstream. a ton of his songs have a blues influence and he is a successful musician. WTF has Joe done to bring the blues back? Being unoriginal?

    John Mayer > Joe Bonamassa

  • Well I've tried to write this about 3 times trying to be civilized, but I really can't do it. John Mayer cannot touch Bonamassa. Not in a million fucking years. That man is a true down to earth, bonafide blues man with skills that rival every guitarist to date and the feeling to back it up. John Mayer is a pretty boy sellout who was inspired by SRV. Get in line, Mayer.

Really man, go ahead and compare Fall Out Boy to Led Zeppelin while you're fucking at it.

    Long live the blues.

  • bro i dont wanna be hating on eachother. we both love the blues. we just have different opinons about guitar players. i hate starting confilcts but i like expressing my opinon. i pretty sure we would acutally get along if we knew eachother but we dont, there for u have no right to say my opinon is wrong neither do the people i know but anyway im sorry if i offened u.

  • thats fair man.

  • I love John Campbell's mojo, he left us way too soon. His voice was sheer blues too.

  • i totally take back what i said about jack white. i started really listening to him and i started loving him. John Mayer makes those POP songs to pay the bills like i said as for the tabloids, your right. When i say "no blues players i mean no one to make it main stream like B.B. King did. I mean everyone's got there own opinion on who's the best blues player of the modern era. Who do you think the best NEW blues player is?

  • Well he may not be new but ever listened to Keb Mo?

  • Its hard to say - I think most blues followers hate to say it - We hate John Mayer for his public life in the tabloids and POP songs, but that guy can play. Definately one of the best blues artists today.

  • John Mayer can't touch Joe Bonamassa anyway, anyhow.

  • You can't say ther aren't any blues players left. Buddy Guy stands out instantly, as well as BB King, Guitar Shorty, our English blues greats Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. there is always someone quick to learn those old licks and turn them into fire, such as this song here. I think Jack White did a fine job representing the blues. Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and Duane Allman are a few, as well as Eric Sardinas...many greats left to carry the blues.

  • madmex2k: Duane Allman's been dead for years. Think before you write.

  • Why the fuck did you put jack white with all of the best guitarists in world? Hes ok but he shouldn't be even close to these guys. i mean there really isnt any blues guitarist now. there is Davy Knowles from back door slam but hes not really popular. The best blues guitarist around now is John Mayer. I know hes a pop guy, but thats only to pay the bills. check out TRY! buy the John Mayer trio. A ton of great blues stuff on that one.

  • Jeff Healey, Rory Gallagher! Can you send me a list of all the blues artist listed in the slide? It'd be awesome, thanks.

  • Who's playing??

  • jack white.

  • Where´s Hendrix....

  • fail. Blues. This is blues legends, like real blues. Although Hendrix is one of the greatest guitar players, i dont immediately consider him a 'blues' guitarist.

  • Mmm guess is the perspective.

  • this was great what song is playing

  • she does not need any more complicated drum techniques than this! It isn't how complicated it is, it is what fits to the music!

  • this is blues

  • I wonder when Meg White is gonna get those drum lessons...

  • why not music from one/some of the old masters??

  • Love how you mixed the NON-Blues Legends

    wth the "REAL" Blues Legends

    Same old story

  • The blues... music with pure soul. Something a lot of today's music is missing.

  • wise words!

  • This is amazing; thanks for posting and remembering all the great blues musicians! Keep the blues alive!

  • cold blooded blues toon, white stripes...who would of known!! If old rockers played the bues, then we'd hear some great stuff like this toon.........

  • very awsome job man

and you couldnt have picked a better song

still my favorite little riff of all time

    Jack White is God

and he will be on that slide someday

    later

  • uh...he is.

  • that song makes me want to throw up

  • I think you just did.

  • crapy music for that great slide..

  • dude, white stripes are awesome, don't be so close minded

  • I know it's good, but not for this size of musicians, besides how can put a pic of jack white on there....

  • well, you are right with that, jack isn't one of the big blues musicians, but his music is certainly not crappy...

  • wheres jimi hendrix, albert colins....

  • Jimi's there

  • hey you should name some of the pictures

  • dead

  • fuck u

  • nice job!...could you tell me the name of the song in the video?

    it's great..

  • sure it's Ball And Biscuit by The White Stripes

  • thanks, great song and video..

  • superb slideshow!!

  • Nice Pictures.

    Good Music.

    Loved it.
