Hang on a minute... this soundtrack was produced - yes, by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - for the British/Icelandic theatre production of Kafka's Metamorphosis (by Vesturport and Lyric Hammersmith theatre companies). I'm pretty sure it was not intended for the soundtrack to the film The Assassination of Jesse James as this video suggests.
Made me realise this world can produce perfect things. In some ways it's good that not everything is perfect. It means once they have been discovered, they still have the essence of being truly wonderful.
just having the names cave and ellis attached to means its magic to me........the oscar doesnt mean nothing......i haven;t even seen to the movie....yet.........i just here cause cave and ellis magic
I dont want to sound sappy, i should get a grip really, but im sitting here in the dark, with my computer and a drink, listening to this great great album... but this song is almost bringing me to tears! hahaha, its been a shit week and listening to this i feel a little better. Weird i know, i'll go get a grip and man up in a sec but thank's for posting this mate! ive thoroughly enjoyed just sitting here listening to these great pieces of music! :)
@GIMMEDANGERX1 Nothing unmanly about appreciating beauty, especially in a world as ugly as ours. The more of the latter a.k.a. the "deficiencies of existence" - the more you need beauty expressed or captured in art, including music and film. After all, if not to find beauty in life, what are we all living for really? Cheers :)
I have the soundtrack to this movie but it doesn't contain all the songs from the film. Is there somewhere I can get the entire soundtrack which includes the many songs not on the released version?
this soundtrack is so fitting for this movie. Not only is the movie set up as authentic but the music sets the movies tone throughout. Outstanding movie and soundtrack which transports you to an earlier time in our history.
This is the best score of the decade... and Atonement won the Oscar, which is almost equally as great, and my #2 score of the decade... check it out as well
@megaman8484 that was a false title, as the video description stated. I found the names Mary's Song and The Water Song and told the uploader of the video and he/she changed it to the correct title.
In my ideal world ALL the music used in the film from COMPLETE begining to the COMPLETE end would be on one CD, & then ALL the music written for the film & not used would be on a 2nd CD, & then it would be packaged and sold as a double CD. Ah go on please do it, want this music so much, just adore everything by Nick Cave, and this is no exception, it's fantastic. Thanks for this valuable post. X
do u know of a place where i can download the rst of the oundtrack?... wanted 2 burn thm 2 a cd 4 myself with the exception of a few of thm, but my fucking bearshare account erased thm and told me i needed 2 subscribe 2 sum kinda bullshit if i wanted thm back
It's not listed under Cave or Ellis because these songs are untitled. They didn't plan on releasing these songs on the soundtrack. Only Nick Cave and Warren Ellis did this score, nobody else. Don't tell me you can't find these songs because there's a giant whopping link on the side of the screen for you to download. And it's perfectly legal since these particular unreleased songs are not for sale in stores and therefore they are not losing profit from this. Enjoy them.
i've tried looking it up under both names Warren Ellis and Nick Cave and both together and i can't find it listed under any of them... and i can't find "Song For Charley" either... please help me!!
Watched this movie once, was intrigued. Watched it again, loved it. Watched it a third time, masterpiece.
Soundtrack beautiful, as much a part of the movie as the acting, direction, photograpy and writing which is inspired. The movie should sit with the likes of Citizen Kane. Flawless.
It's 1am, i still have an esay to do that will take me a good 3 hours and have to get up for school at 7.... listening to this song i can't help but be happy. The part at 1.29 is simply amazing. It almost makes me nostalgic for no real thing and no real reason, a true masterpiece that will probably be heard by so few people, makes it even more speacil for me : )
What should I google? Winzip, or the title of this song? I thought the links you provided in the description would work out fine, but it didn't work for me :P
this track is amazing!! it grows on me more and more every time i listen to it... its pretty much become what i go to to get away after a long and stressful day....
This soundtrack so doesn't match up with a western movie, think about it :P Its hard to describe exactly what genre of film best fits this score. This is maybe the main reason why the music is so indescribably beautiful, and the fact that it doesn't really match up with the film makes the film all the more brilliant, and really shows off the talent of Cave and Ellis.
Mate, I'm looking for the title of the very last song, the one on the final credits of the movie (which was incidentally my favourite one). Could you or anyone else help me out?
andrew dominik said in an interview that the first cut (4hours long) wasn't very good so there will be no director's cut because the cinema cut is the final cut
(thank you very much for the unreleased tracks BTW)
The good thing is that people are looking at this film as more than the simple story of the assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford, but as an art film and even a way at looking at life.
