I think this is a freaking great movie but it makes me want to hate it! This situation sucks! This is the only movie that has ever scarred me for life. Me being a "MAN" I dont cry over movies, Im too tuff and even old yeller never made me cry. Jennifer Connelly had me ballin like a baby. grrrrrr...... So freaking sad man. Hate it.

I get shivers everything I see this movie.. especially this scene... Jennifer and Billy are truly a fantastic couple in this film!

Too bad most people will never get to see it! It's Billy's and Jennifer's best performances ever, I think.

I think that Sarah really did die and she came back, in spirit, just this last time to say she moved on to a better place, and to say goodbye and give Fielding the strength to live on...

she went underground to help with chilean resistance. it's like being in witness protection. The book doesn't lead you to think it might be hallucination or coming back from the dead. It's quite clear. The movie played up that possibility for dramatic effect, but I don't think there's anything more dramatic than leaving the love of your life, or life as you know it, because of a political conviction.

The first time i watched this movie i could not stop crying, it is so beautiful and it just breaks my heart, Jennifer and Billy looked so wonderful together and i do want to believe that she really did come to see him just one last time to say the goodbye that they never got to say to one another

Jennifer Connelly should have won the Oscar for this instead of Beautiful Mind. It's a more powerful performance. Just heartbreaking.

I pretty sure she's his hallucination. She appears just when he needs her and closure so he can move on and do all the things she believed in and she believed he was capable of doing.. Jennifer is wonderful in this part and she had some lovely scenes in this - particularly the subway ride with Crudup and the beginnings of their courtship which ring true for those times.
