the 400xt is a great quad and has decent power for a 400. It is very comfy and handles great. Keep an eye on the rubber boots on the CVT. The older ones were prone to weather cracking. Other than that, I never had any problems.

@elmerocuetero i had the 400 and believe me it will perform. i put 26's on it and lost hardly any performance. (stock is 25). i bought a 800xt-p a few months ago and man is it a beast! hard to go wrong with can-am. unless you need something 100% reliable all the time, then look at the solid axle honda's

@elmerocuetero i love my 400xt, its been buried to the handle bars in peatmoss, and still drives like the day we bought it. main problem with can-am is fouled spark plugs, which is a really cheap fix, just keep a spare in it and you'll be good to go! oh and we have a push blade on ours for snow in the winter... it makes it harder to wiggle back and forth in the snow, you usually end up burying the front end haha. so take that off if you get one =] and the apache track system looks kickass!

A 400 outlander is a xtreme machine for a 400cc. It got 32HP while a Yamaha Grizzly 450 only got 27HP..

I got my own Outlander 400 HO, and I havent had any problems :)

i got both a 800 outlander and a 800 polaris..the OUtlander is twice the avt the polaris is....you can't even compare the power betweent the two...thats why my wife drives the polaris

@Binbrook78 Mines on the front a-arms. It slightly bend on the left side which it's hard to steer to the left at high speed. The shocks of my 05 were out soon after and still havent replace. Will do when hitting the black diamon trails again. I think Can-am should do some recalls when more than 50 % of its customers have the same issue. It's not cheap to fix a can-am too.

I've got a 500cc 2000 model Suzuki Quad-Runner that I keep well maintained and a killer set of "wing" tires on. It's fulltime 4wd and I'vd been driving it mud and snow and ditches and winching it and digging it out for 10 years now and it just keeps on clawing up mountains taking me places I probably shouldn't be going. 10 years old and I've had only 1 carb job done on it and it starts in zero degree weather like a brand new bike. Go Sukuzi Quadrunner, I speak from experience!! It's a beast.

cool i have an arctic cat 500 it has wicked mud and snow tires. i have the bearings destroyed doing to same thing that you did riding in the mudd with a torn cv boot. it happened like 4 months ago and i still haven't fixed the bearings but i got a new cv boot. my friend crashed it in to a stump and bent the frame. so now i have an arctic cat 500 2003 with an 2008 frame. haha

post some more vids i really liked the in the xtreme playground and the outlander in snow.

None so far! I blew the bearings out of a front one on my 400 when I rode in the mud, not knowing that I had torn the cv boot. I have three friends with grizzlys who have had multiple broken cv joints and drive shafts. One even blew the rear diff with stock tires. Yet they still trash talk anything that doesn't say Yamaha on the side!
