i have read about Cleopatra's family, Man, why hasn't any film companies done a film on them, always the same story, over and over again. Get some good writters together (along with what is known today) and you've got a BlockBuster, and please use actors from the region, we are in the 21st Century now, and to tell the truth, i doubt that Cleopatra looked ANYTHING like Elizabeth Taylor or many of the other actors that hollywood has had playing her.
Her brother was a kid at 13 and by all accounts a puppet of his older sister or councilors. By all rights, Cleopatra was the rightful queen by blood, If Ptolemy had lived he would have killed Egypt by trying to fight Rome, he was an ignorant child. I'm sure fighting the Romans would've appealed to Braveheart, but Cleopatra was the smarter one. How do you know those bones aren't hers? Cleopatra was subject to double standard; if ptolemy had taken a roman wife no one would've said anything.
she was originaly greek, but her greek people have been living in Egypt for over 300 years and that makes her fully fledged Egyptian, the same as someone Irish immigrate to america and his great grand childeren become fully fledged americans. the greeks came to egypt and saw a civilization far older and superior to their's so they aspired to be Egyptians and to adapt egyptian culture which is also superior to the greek one.
Why do they make Arsinoe seem innocent and Cleopatra evil? I'm sure Arsinoe did terrible things as well and the stuff Cleopatra did is not really all that terrible. In fact, it happened all the time and no one cared. Killed or be killed, people.
Caesar was Egypt's enemy. Cleo slept with Egypt's enemy just to kick her brother out of power. If true...Cleo's brother and sister... were used as pussy armor... to protect Caesar from getting killed. Which he should have been. Cleo betrayed Egypt. Gee... I wonder why the Roman's are the only ones.... who have stories about Cleo. She helped them. History IS written by the victors. They made Cleo into a beauty... because Julie Caeser would look bad.. if he screwed a dog who betrayed her own.
4:00 "The owner of the skull was young and classically beautiful...it ties in with ancient accounts of her sister...cleo... as a beautiful queen." Cleo was the eldest child. Eldest children usually aren't the 'better looking of the children. And it doesn't mean that all the children... were attractive. Cleo could have had buck teeth... or crooked lips... or a limp . Know what I mean? No one's found Cleo's bones. She may have been jealous of her sisters beauty.
@frickadele Actually, Cleopatra had two older sisters, Bernice, decapitated by her father for claiming the throne when he was in Rome, and Cleopatra Tryphoena, who was strangled for the same reason

Just human codition power is like that.
At that time and today.
But before killing for power was more savage it was phisical death nowdays it can be physical in extreme cases and mostly political death

Hopefully the remains of another Ptolemy will be found someday, then scientists can verify the bones of Arsinoe IV for sure.

@frickadele
She actually used seduction as a ploy to form an alliance with Rome.
As opposed to being enemies with a super power of their time, she tried to befriend them.
Both Cleopatra and Caesar had interests in being rulers of the most powerful nations,
Why not work together instead of fighting each other? (It would be inevitable)
Cleopatra was smarter than this video ultimately gives her credit for.
She was a queen of Egypt, having political interests.
They just fail to mention that here
