I use 30lb braid and have never broke off EVER and I have landed multiple 6-9 lb bass... I fish a lot with frogs and buzz baits.. I have found a good tip to making ur presentation more natural is to throw it on the bank and then bring it into the water.. It looks lie a frog jumping into the water and it makes the bass go nuts
This is exactly the video I was looking for. A top angler from the lake I fish on said Spro Bronze eyes are the best lure to use in summer on our lake. But I have NO idea how to fish it. This was extremely helpful
@neatococa when you're frog fishing, you want to use braid cuz you're throwing into heavy cover a lot. mono has a lot of stretch and is more likely to break if you snag the line on some pads or some other exposed cover. braid on the other hand, is stronger and is more likely to rip through that cover without breaking because it has less elastisity. mono is great if you're fishing open water where there's little chance of hanging up on something. all line types have their uses.
one question why do you use such very very heavy line like 30lb braid even 50lb braid??????? i just use15-20 lb mono for saltwater and cat fish and i use 12lb mono for my bass reels ive cought a 50lb stingray on 15 lb mono theres no reason to use anything over 20lb braid for bass.
@AARbassboss because braid lacks abrasion resistance so if it brushes up agains objects its more inclinded to snap, where as mono doesnt. Plus braid is thinner so why not beef it up a little, if your lure gets snagged you have more chance of retreiving it
nive videos john.... thanks for givin tips on how to walk the dog & wat to use braid or line.. cus i had had bought som spro frogs just 2 try them out but didnt know how to use them... after watching ur video i tried ur tips & actually caught a few 3 pound bass naow i dont use nothing but frogs..... thanks.....
@golfer15963 Buddy this is some peoples jobs and they HAVE to catch fish, they cant afford to lose fish. Most people dont want to lose fish so they use the heavy braid to get the fish out. Also most people dont have the money to lose baits from line breaking so braid in heavy cover also gives you that extra strength.
nice video! thanks. i have a general question not directed at you but if you could give me your thoughts id appreciate it. "if you skip a bait under a dock/boat/w.e and have a bite, how do you go about setting the hook?" my only concern here is if i have a fish hit my bait i dont want to set the hook and have my line fray and weaken from rubbing against the dock or boat.
@golfer15963 I dont even go above 30# powerpro in the surf. all my surf setups are spooled with 30lb braid. even casting up to 6oz lead ive never had problem either. braid is tough shit!
dont use 30lb braid? it will break>?? bull shit man I use nothing but 30lb power pro braided line and ive used it for fishing with these fromgs my hole life and its never broken on me and ive caught just about everything on 30lb braid great video but buy some power pro it will never break unless it is realy old line
I do like the snagproof bleeding frog but I like the ishs phat frog alot better. I walk better than any frog and it doesn't fill up with water. 30 lb braid is strong and maybe all u guys who use it never broke a fish off yet but when u do hook a 7lb bass and he breaks u off you'll wish u woulda listened. Learn the hard way, as long as u learn.
Uglystick95 u must b a fuckin retard and don't know shit. I can cast my frog twice as far with 55lb braid than I can with 10lb mono. Another reason u want heavy braid is cause it helps with the hookset cause it has no stretch and u need heavy line when fishing a frog in thick vegetation!!!!
@golfer15963 I agree! I've used 20lb braid salt water fishing for HUGE Red fish and Snook. They will put a 10lb large mouth to shame! These fish haul you into mangroves around pillings, docks and rocks! I had no problems reeling in Gag Grouper with the same rod as the Reds and Snook. So I say you fish with what ya got I wouldn't go by what these guys say as far as gear and such. Maybe the lures and different baits sure the pro's know. They are not however the last word on some things!
@golfer15963 the zero stretch charictoristic of braid makes it so if you pitch the bait hard and your reel locks up the sudden stop will often just break 30lb and send your bait flying into the water while 50 or higher will not throw your bait
@orionclayton94 that has happened to me a few times since im still a learner baitcaster but my braid has never snaped even whe i cast it hard out to 30 yeards and such and the line stops imidiately and it has never snaped on me yet.... even casting my 4-5 inch swimbaits and get backlash and the line stops in midair the line has not snaped feels like my reel would flyoff before my line would snap!
every time i frog fish i always set the hook after 2-3 secs, hook em hard, and they always come off like 6 seconds later,i lost like my 8th fish including a good trophy a few days ago.Anyone got any tips?

Uglystick55 another thing is that 55lb braid is as thin as 12lb mono and believe me, u can cast braid wayyyyyyyy farther than u can mono or fluro!!!!

@johnnythunderbass 30 pound test has a breaking strength of close to 80 pounds. Braid is stronger than it's labeled test weight.
