How to create a Ladder Stitch - Beading

I'm really having a hard time understanding this! I only want to do the two bead row but I can't figure out how to do this from the different version with more beads. Can someone help me?? I've been trying everything and I just can't get it. I've tried every other video and find them all different!! Thanks much.
